Big respect for SAHM's

As a full time working dad, I must admit that I have previously thought that SAHM's must have an easy life but after spending the last two days with 3 ds's under 4, I have to say ... "Please take me back to work !! " Never again will I be tempted to tell my wife that she must have it easy. In fact, I'd say, being a SAHM must be one of the hardest jobs in the world. I have the utmost respect for you all !

this makes a nice change!
what a nice sentiment and SOOOOOOO true

fairyfly · 16/11/2004 10:13

I get this a lot.
My mum ringing at 11 o clock in the morning
" what are you up to, did i just get you out of bed"
My friends
" It's alright for you we have to wait until the weekend before we can relax"
Mx
" have you any idea what pressure im under just now, while you just have the kids to contend with"

Burn them all, that's what i say

wobblyknicks · 16/11/2004 10:50

daddypops - I have a sneaky suspicion who your dw is - has she had a name change at any time in the past few months??

Angeliz · 16/11/2004 10:52

fairyfly, a girl my sister works with likened me to Victoria Beckham!!!!(I have 3 year old and am 6 months pregnant!!"
She actually said "Oh what does she do all day?"

I so wanna be there when she has kids!

carla · 16/11/2004 10:54

C'mon Daddypops tell us tell us!

wobblyknicks · 16/11/2004 10:55

carla - I think his dw's old name was a bit fishy!! HTH!!

fairyfly · 16/11/2004 10:56

Yes the first thing i will say when my friends have children is well at least you will have a couple of months off work now, to sleep all day and watch this morning, ha ha ha

codswallop · 16/11/2004 10:57

ff!

fairyfly · 16/11/2004 11:02

I would never do such a thing, i will send them flowers, buy them some arnica, and babysit

MummyToSteven · 16/11/2004 11:03

stuff the flowers, send them chocolate

carla · 16/11/2004 11:10

Too cryptic for me WK!

MummyToSteven · 16/11/2004 11:20

think of rinks, carla!

Flum · 16/11/2004 11:45

I stayed at home for 7 months after baby and really did sit around reading and watching telly (but then immobile baby v. easy to look after).

I never seemed to find time to get anything done!

Now I work, still no time. And can't decide which most tiring. End of day with baby leaves me more ragged than work does but I do miss day time telly.

Gobbledigook · 16/11/2004 11:58

Flum, yes but it's quite different being at home 24/7 with 3 boys under 4!!

Being at home on maternity leave with ds1 was quite frankly a complete doddle for me! I should stress he was an easy baby and v. settled so I know that's not the case for every new mother.

Now two of them are running about like loons AND I've got a new baby - THAT's more tiring that work!

Flum · 16/11/2004 12:04

Gobbledegook - yeah thats what I meant, a baby is well easy in comparison and they sleep all the time. I loved it but was under no illusions that it would stay that way!

Kids are exhausting.

I think they should share all the jobs out so everyone works 2.5 days a week so they stay sane and get time with kids.

Dear Mp..........................

Gobbledigook · 16/11/2004 12:07

Good idea Flum!

wobblyknicks · 16/11/2004 13:44

carla - if I say she's recently posted on this thread and JoolsToo will have seen her recently - does that help??......And then i find out I'm wrong - hahaha!!!

emmatmg · 16/11/2004 13:49

WK, I'm think the same as mumsnetter as you.

Infact I thought it on the first post I read of DP's.

Kinda wish my Dh would log on and join in too.
