I have my notepad ready, my pen poised and my specs perched sexily upon my nose (pout)...

So...female sexuality, then...?

Eowyn · 19/11/2007 20:23

is this survey results??? or am I confused?

SenoraPostrophe · 19/11/2007 20:24

this isn't The Influence of Medieval Spanish on the Politics of 1732-1734 then?

deenymcqueenygoreandguts · 19/11/2007 20:26

deeny wanders in, can of strong cider in one hand, fag in the other.
slides into chair next to monkey trousers, farts then sez to monkey..."awright bird?"

Madamez, I?m not sure what you have read. There is a lot of bastardised science out there. The theory you talk of is part of Darwin?s theory of sexual selection, which is part of, or contiguous with, Darwin?s theory of natural selection ? they are the two pillars of evolution. They are, unsurprisingly, extremely complex, yet quite elegantly simple too. The whole ?survival of the fittest? comes from natural selection and people who use it to justify some kind of natural order generally don?t understand it and definitely haven?t read up on sexual selection or the evolution of altruism and morality, for instance.

The chief of Enron, for example, was supposedly inspired in his venal ways by Richard Dawkin?s The Selfish Gene. It is plainly obvious to anyone who has read it however, that he?d only read the title and put 2 and 2 together to get 5.

BYW, thank you so much for giving me this chance to work and be on MN at the same time!!

I will be back to address the questions you had on the other thread re increased libido during ovulation. Women are certainly not "designed" to sleep around indiscriminately or cuckold their husbands - it is all contingent on environment.

Be back soon hopefully. Ds a bit poorly.

fullmoonfiend · 19/11/2007 20:28

zippitippitoes · 19/11/2007 20:29

Monkeytrousers · 19/11/2007 20:29

Oops, hello you lot. It's a continuation of the sex thread.

Sex thread? What sex thread? (LAG slumps in chair and looks at fingernails, thinking 'I am obviously not one of the cool kids' humpf)

LoveAngelGabriel · 19/11/2007 20:33

My 14 yr old niece thought Germaine Greer was a premiership footballer. No joke.

(goes back to sulking and sneaking Quavers from a craftily hidden packet under the desk)

Prunie · 19/11/2007 20:33

No I haven't seen any sex threads
Unless it's in "ante-natal clubs" - I've ticked the piss-off box for those (nothing personal)

LoveAngelGabriel · 19/11/2007 20:35

There's a sex thread in the ante-natal forum? What kind of freaks are they?

deenymcqueenygoreandguts · 19/11/2007 20:36

freaks indeed!
have you looked in on the porn one, thats a bit funny in bits.

whats this one all about then?

DumbledoresGirl · 19/11/2007 20:38

So there arent going to be any pictures here?

LoveAngelGabriel · 19/11/2007 20:39

No, I have avoided the porn one like the plague. I'm scared it will be chockablock with some of those scary people from 'In The News' who turn every thread into an 800 post rant. Argh.

southeastastra · 19/11/2007 20:39

what's enron got to do with female sexuality?

Monkeytrousers · 19/11/2007 20:39

If I can also, just to keep track, repost the specific questions.

1 from Madamez:

"MT (at the risk of hijacking) I am kind of fascinated by this, I have read some stuff about it elsewhere. Are you aware of the theories that, biologically, it makes sense for women to sleep with as many men as possible when they are fertile, and that this may be behind men's pathological desire to control women's sexuality? "

2 from Lucyellensmum:

"MT, that is interesting about the whole rape thing too, have you found anything out yet - sorry, ive only read your last few posts. I do find that area interesting as to what promotes someone to do that sort of thing, be it date rape (which is the worst kind IMO ) or stranger rape which i guess the perpetrator has deep psychological problems to want to be doing that. What intersts me actually, and not sure if you have any info on this, male rape by normally heterosexual males is rife in prison, do you think that is just a power thing? "

3 from Soph:

"MT you say you're 'trying to get as clear (and non ideologically biased) picture of human sexuality as I can.'

you do know the impossibility of that don't you? i'm assuming your research is quantitative but given that 'rape' is a meaning laden concept. with huge socio/cultural relevance, qualitative research would be more appropriate. at which point an explicit acknowledgement of your inevitable ideological bias is a part of the research process.

human sexuality, imo, is a subjective and intersubjective process rather than an empirically definable and categorisable activity? "

I am also going to invite a friend of mine who study's in this area - if that's okay with you?
