hi pippi! packing is going okish, but they are coming from italy next monday and they'll do pretty much everything. the spirit is variabile. at times I'm happy, at times sad, at times angosciatissimo. this week is going to be hectic, have to do lots of stuff like de- register from gp practice... but the weather is so crap I wish i could stay in bed all day.
what happened with sil? come on just vent here .
I'm glad dd is sleeping better, bless her!
Yesterday night I watched "the lives of others", did you see it? it's beautiful, I really liked it.
where's hothell?
I wonder if rosa's arrived.

HELLOOOOOO I am here sitting by the Christmas tree, spent a couple of days in Bath visiting friends, feel very relaxed. We are off to Paris at the weekend, was hoping it was my time to ovulate, but will have to wait for that....ah we are without ds!!!! Cannot wait!
Take it easy Franca, I am sure everything will work out!
Pippi what do you think worked to teach dd to sleep like an angel?

PippiCalzelunghe · 10/12/2007 12:03

hothell I am not sure, a mixture of everything I guess. The main thing though was a bit of 'fermezza' TBH. When we go to my mum's she gets a bit spoilt (like it should be) as nonna is such a softy. We have been firm in not coming in our bed (so much so that everymorning now she says 'solo quando e' giorno in mummy and daddy's bed') and on the bed time routine. I've moved her bed around so she's not facing those horrid mirrors - can't wait for them to go - and seems cosier. Also bribing her with the advent calendar helped !

wow paris without kids... super romantic... who knows what might happen hothell. are you going with the Eurostar?

Franca I didn;t see that although it rings a bell, what was it? i did watch a movie by chance late 'In America' which i really really liked. Is it famous. never heard of it before.

what happened to ellbell????

francagoestohollywood · 10/12/2007 15:08

a weekend in bath and a romantic weekend in Paris??? fantastic (yes, you never know what might happen ). Paris !!
Pippi, which horrid mirrors? I'm now picturing your dd bedroom with mirrors on the ceiling like a seedy mote lroom .
"The lives of others" is a German movie (came out last year with great reviews,if I remember well) set in East Germany in the early 80s, with the STASI spying on a playwriter. very very good.
I caught just a pezzettino of In America. was it good? Was it tragic? the little girls were gorgeous and samantha morthon stunning with short hair. mi racconti la trama?

francagoestohollywood · 10/12/2007 15:14

hgrrghjkrgkjr . well yes, exactly. a friend just told me that you need lots of calcium when pmting. so lots of brie and camembert for you guilt free... and pain au chocolat. mmmmm.

PippiCalzelunghe · 10/12/2007 15:27

talking of periods, just a curiosity, have you planned your wedding day around a date when you kind of new you were not going to have it? just asking as I didn't - no surprise there - and obviously had it. (my mum told me off in the same way she told DH and I off when we went to the ospital for his op without any pj or such things. just as we were... )

oh yes that's right franca, I hard about it myself and wanted to see it too. is it out on dvd?
I missed the beginning of 'in america' so not sure at which point in their lives the movies starts. Anyway is about this iriish family that has moved to america and lost a son from a tumor and is all about how they all cope with it. It's not melodramatic at all, tragic yes because of the subject matter but funny too and simple and delicate.

PippiCalzelunghe · 10/12/2007 15:39

ah re the mirrors... exactly like that, poor girl. The ex-owner had an armadio a muro all along the longest wall which is all mirrors [vomit emoticon]. DD's room atm resembles a palestra di aerobica (for that she likes it! )
Oh I cannot wait for this house to be redone... it's so horrid and shabby atm.

re SIL: oh she's just so selfish. I do not even think she does it on purpose anymore it's just that everything is around her and how she likes things. when we proposed to have Xmas at her place as our is a mess (she's got a big house too) she said she couldn;t as this year they were going away with a 'fed-up with everything' look. When we then decided to host it here for MIL and her brother she decided not go anywhere and come. She won;t do presents though as 'I do not do presents sorry' etc. she never ever once invited us over and the most she offers you when we pop in to see the DNs is a cuppa. she did not even bother for a wedding presents as I take it her presence was enough! I am quite vitriolic but in my pregnancy state I cannot quite take it. there's more re inheritance which is really bad which I won't discuss here but I can update you by email...

francagoestohollywood · 10/12/2007 16:26

gosh she sounds nasty !
didn't plan the wedding according to periods, but luckily I was period free.
so do they make it in new york? (I saw the beginning on c4 +1 and it starts with them entering the US by car (from where? I mean did they drive from Ireland to the US??? and the border looked like the border with mexico, not exactly handy to go to nyc... )

hotHELL · 10/12/2007 19:32

lol!
No wedding day for me. I am one of those annoying people who always said was against marriage, that it belittled women, that it was society's ploy to make everybody conform, blah, blah.
Now I think it would be quite handy so we probably will as soon as we can manage to organise it. And no, I won't worry about my periods either, having been with dp more than I care to remember.
I would have liked to concieve in Paris though. Never mind! We can watch telly in our hotel.

hotHELL · 10/12/2007 20:13

franca will you change your name to francagoestomilan?

PippiCalzelunghe · 10/12/2007 20:54

hothell I was one of these people (I still am somewhere) but the bit about one dying and the other not having any rights etc made me change my mind. I wasn't worried about the 'first' night... it's more about having an accident on a white dress... imagine that!!!!

hotHELL · 10/12/2007 21:11

LOL at red stain on white dress?
i completely know what you mean that's why we will do it when we can organise it.

PippiCalzelunghe · 10/12/2007 22:04

francagoestohollywood · 10/12/2007 22:22

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 10/12/2007 22:23

will you keep me updated with what happens in the Uk pop culture? I', already panicking at all the tv programs i'll miss.

OP posts:
Brangelina · 10/12/2007 22:42

Who is Duncan Ballantyne?

Ah Franca, you'll miss everything like mad at the beginning and you'll keep thinking or saying "but in England there was this/we did that" but it will all fade in time. And weren't you getting Sky anyway? Doesn't time fly? It seemed only a few hours ago you were thinking about it, yet here you are alla vigilia del trasloco.[scary emoticon]

On another note, I went to the open day for the scuola materna statale this evening and it looked quite nice, lots of emphasis on art and self expression, informatica and inglese at 5yo etc. BUT there are only sufficient places for about 60% of the demand. AARGH! And the stupid thing is that there would be enough places but there's a really daft system in place which means the places actually diminish as there's not enough demand because no one can hang on till August and risk not finding a place anywhere. Triple AAARGH!!!
