have been banned from wearing hat at home, as dp says i look mad! have your tried steaming with peppermint oil?
lol at bran emailing in her underwear....in my mind you are incredibly skinny, very groomed and with a high powered job!

francagoestohollywood · 04/12/2007 10:03

The dreaded "sulfamigi" as my mum used to call them!!! Have to go, have to buy christmas cards.

OP posts:
hotHELL · 04/12/2007 10:10

You mean you don't make your carddsssss? (lazy mum alert).

Brangelina · 04/12/2007 10:15

Alas not incredibly skinny, nor groomed. More like a mixture of flabby bits and bony bits and messy hair. My hair has improved since I bought my straighteners, but other than that I am in no way sleek.

Franca, you got a bonus for the sfilate??? My friend didn't, which led her to chuck it in after the 2nd season. You are supposed to wear the clothes, you're not supposed to eat, which is why they pay you so little. If they paid you more then you'd be able to afford food and the clothes wouldn't hang so well...

You guys wear a hat in the house? Wide brimmed or an Enrique Iglesias style snug woolly hat? Or a big fluffy woolly hat with huge pompom?

Brangelina · 04/12/2007 10:19

You make Christmas cards???? I'm afraid to say I don't even buy them, with the excuse that they're environmentally unsound.

I have to admit thought that I'm waiting for DD to be able to hold a pen properly so she can make all ours (child exploitation)

PippiCalzelunghe · 04/12/2007 10:39

What a joy receiving all I bought as Xmas presents through the post... [very lazy emoticon!] But to redeem myself I think DD and I will do the Xmas cards this year... it will keep her occupied for a bit.

Scooter looks really good and fun. Got to go and buy wrapping paper today.
We have ordered a stokke chair for DD as the booster seat was way too unstable. I wanted a sleek (and boring probably) white or natural wood but as it is DD's DH rightly said that she should choose the colour herself. she looked all thoughtful at the selection before stating all convinced 'OWANGE!!!'. So orange it is! thought I but it has arrived today and it's not bad. I'm sure she'll like it which is what counts. aren't we liberal in the pippi's household?!
Last night she woke up 11 times. we managed to stay very calm on the surface but I must have had killer thoughts bubbling up. As we have a wooden advent calendar with babbo natale this morning Babbo Natale told her that she won't be opening 'number five' if she doesn't go 'pisolino per bene' tonight. I hope she takes Babbo's word in more consideration than that of her parents!

hothell I have read 3 italian books that I got in italy questo un mini libro do Roberto Saviano, quello di [[http://www.lafeltrinelli.it/istituzionale/catalogo/scheda_prodotto.aspx?i=2253663 Gomorra su una vedova di guerra del napoletano e Vita di saragaia che non mi e' piaciuto per niente.

I still haven't done much today but my intentions are good.

PippiCalzelunghe · 04/12/2007 10:41

Gomorra

PippiCalzelunghe · 04/12/2007 10:43

Bran I never do them really because of the environmment. I think it's such a waste of space and def not an italian tradition (that's my excuse anyway). I'll get DD to make some this year as at least they'll be slightly more appreciated I guess.

Brangelina · 04/12/2007 10:50

Yes, I know they're not an Italian tradition, that's wha I tell my mother but she has become very English about these things. She even sends me cards for easter, congrats, whatever. And the grief I get about mother's day (UK one), I keep having to tell her it's not festa della mamma here and no, there aren't any cards. I fear that is one tradition that she has embraced that will not die.

Very at you being so organised and getting all your pressies already. I really must get mine sorted. I think I'll have a gander on internet later today when I've finished my grids. And what good taste your DD has with the choice of orange. It's the colour of creativity, doncha know. My DD is going through a "periode noir" at the moment and everything in her colouring book gets scribbled over coloured in black or at the most dark brown. I think she got her taste from DP.

Rosa · 04/12/2007 12:45

One of the few colours dd recognises is rosso and nero - she goes for the nero crayon ....I wonder if it anything to do with the balck and white flash cards I showed her daily from 2 weeks old ( THATS A JOKE !)
LOL at Brangelina doing corporate work in her knickers !!
I am doing more xmas shopping in the Uk and have done some of my Xmas cards I send to people that send to me and then use te cards as gift tags the next year and dd has been scribbling on the backs of the cut out ones. Try always to buy charity cards!
Oh dear at the dc finding xmas presents were they looking for them or was it an accident?. You could always say that those gifts are for birthdays and get them something else !!
There was thick fog this morning but now its a lovely day .. Must do some conti for dh e NON HO VOGLIA....
Pippi hope the a babbo natale works dd is in love with babbo natale and all the lights in the shops she has already go the hang of her advent calandar as well !!

PippiCalzelunghe · 04/12/2007 13:10

rosa this photobx is driving me insane. have you managed to get the discount? it didn;t work for me either but couldn;t be bothered and opted for the free postage, almost same amount anyway. I have ordered them as I had enough, all my effort of yesterday had been deleted so I had to do it all again.
I should have waited for some more pics but never mind.

yes franca what have you told the dc about those presents? do they believe in babbo natale still?

Rosa · 04/12/2007 13:53

I e mailed customer services and they replied this morning. They will be giving me 10% off my order . So I ordered and sent them the order confirmation number and now I wait and see if I get the 10%. I diddn't even see free postage . Mine is more than that anyway ( opps) The amount of time it took me to do the quality better be good !!!

francagoestohollywood · 04/12/2007 14:41

Brange: yes I got a bonus sfilate of 1 million liras at every sfilate time. we didn't get many clothes for free, but have to say I never felt the pressure of being skinny or anything (that's more among the giornaliste di moda, of a certain magazine). Plus we could dress in jeans and trainers to go to the office, plus we could smoke . (I'm leaving astutamente the bad bits out, like being trated like a slave...).
I told them that Father Christmas must have left the present in advance becuase he got confused with the moving... It took me one day to come up with the excuse .
Pippi dd's fav colour is orange as well!
Rosa it took ds ages to learn his colours he was very confused by the names in English and Italian and for a long time everything was "blue". Blue was the epitome of anything beautiful.
I found a present for 1 sil urrah!

PippiCalzelunghe · 04/12/2007 15:45

I am really exhausted these days. I've come back from tesco and I think I am either going for a bath (yes another, how indulgent!) or directly in bed!!! I think I'll go to the doc and ask for a sick note so that I can postpone my mat leave.

I can't wait to do the Xmas tree with DD!!

PippiCalzelunghe · 04/12/2007 15:46

franca that's a great trovata di babbo natale confuso!

PippiCalzelunghe · 04/12/2007 16:54

what is more annoying than not finding the nailfiler having for once found the time and the will to sit still and do my nails (which I do prob once a year)!

francagoestohollywood · 04/12/2007 17:43

you do your nails . respect!!! hahahaha I've asked dh to get dinner ready (the sugo e' gia' pronto), I will have an hour of blissful "ironing" (mnetting) while listening to radio dj

OP posts:
hotHELL · 04/12/2007 18:40

ds does teh cards, basically pieces of paper with scribbles. don't do them for adults though, cannot bear the idea of spending money on them, but fun for kids i think. don't know those books at all, i am in between books now, have to decide tonight.

francagoestohollywood · 04/12/2007 18:52

hothell, go through the catalogo of virago modern classics, lots of good titles there!

OP posts:
PippiCalzelunghe · 04/12/2007 20:03

I never ever do my nails, only once a year or something when I look at my hands horrified. that's why I get so upset, if I don;t do them today I never will.

DD LOVES her 'owange' chair... she put daddy in time out for sitting on it!

francagoestohollywood · 04/12/2007 20:38

!!!

PippiCalzelunghe · 04/12/2007 21:06

my turn to be noiosa... I've lost it big time with DD with this (not)going to bed business. After all the routine and the three stories as usuall comes the usual 'mamma poo poos'. which is a lie and she keep saying it, sitting in the toilet and doing nothing. three minutes later is the same. 10 times. till I lost it. DH came to the rescue and now is up there. I feel awful but really I am running out of solutions. very after being very . this moments make me wish I wasn't a mum, awful I know !

PippiCalzelunghe · 04/12/2007 21:07

I bet she'll wake up in the night and with being so tired from last night same saga I am not sure I'll be able to be as calm. can I run away?????

francagoestohollywood · 04/12/2007 21:19

oh gosh pippi that's hard . how about patrolling her room? I used to tell ds that I'd be just outside his bedroom until he fell asleep. (and I just sat outside his door reading for 15 mins, maybe a bit more?)

OP posts:
Brangelina · 04/12/2007 21:26

I have this from DD sometimes. After booby it's "Mummy water", after water it's "Mummy wee wee", then more water. I say no more water she asks for something else. Tonight DP gave her a couple of penne in her cot then it was a continuous "Mummy, pastaaaa".

It really wears you down, doesn't it? It must be worse for you being pg. I have no patience I'm afraid, after the first couple of times I talk to her in a "stiff voice", then if she carries on I growl, then let her cry herself to sleep (she's asleep after 2 mins).
