Good evening, Clunkers!

Welcome to the Breakfast Club where the kettle is permanently on, the drinks flow and the snacks are both self-replenishing and calorie-free.

We start each day with a look at history and a tribute to a brave or inspiring woman. Mostly though, we just chat randomly about current affairs, recipes, life in lockdown, literature, music and anything else that comes into our heads.

Veteran Clunkers welcome. Anyone else who wants to join in the chat - sense of humour essential! - welcome.

Kettle's on ☕️☕️☕️

@LilyLangtrey

Morning, Anne and Sulis.

Just putting this cartoon from Matt here. It's mad, isn't it? Especially in Cam's part of the world.

Oh Lily

I so like that Matt cartoon.

AnneKipanki · 19/10/2020 08:41

Good cartoon !

lifestooshort123 · 19/10/2020 08:42

Thought I'd posted but must have been all fingers and thumbs!
Morning all and thank you Lily.
Car going in for its service and MOT do I'll sit in an independent cafe and have a coffee and pastry then wander the shops. Have a lovely day all.

AnneKipanki · 19/10/2020 08:43

I am in a tier 3 equivalent area . My MIL is not . However 2 nurses in her street had a house party at the weekend . MIL was not impressed .

BakedCam · 19/10/2020 08:50

Cam should be Minister of Health. She would sort it out

Morning Yellow

That's very kind of you. I'd fire the Scarlet Pimpernel that is NHS England's CEO. First. Then I would disband other agencies. Have local CCGs properly funded as they're good at local levels and bring GPs out of contractual arrangements and back into NHS control.

That would be a start.

Have a super day. I'm waiting for my lamps to be tested.

TracysShoulder · 19/10/2020 08:52

Morning Clunkers.

You lot are up and about early chatting. Better see what's going on in the kitchen.

Cam's builders are in there again making 6x pint mugs of Yawkshire tea.

Thank you Lily for this thread, so sorry to read about Dizzy. Lovely breakfast, and calorie free too, actually had porridge with chopped apple and a spoonful of left over cream for breakfast.

It started off dank and grey here, but the sun has now put in an appearance so washing will go out.

I watched part of the Jeremy Vine programme mentioned and YAB really did abuse LF, he was really calm. Apparently she has stopped watching programmes he is in. I gave up and switched off.

October is breast cancer awareness month, please take a few moments to check yourself.
Take care everyone.

TracysShoulder · 19/10/2020 09:09

I hope the GM situation is resolved today. I think we're going to see much more of this as tier 3 areas are identified.

LilyLangtrey · 19/10/2020 09:48

Apparently she has stopped watching programmes he is in.

I bet LF is tempted to return the favour. Smile

MrL is watching the news and the subject was endometriosis. "What's that? he said, so I explained.

He went very pale, jumped up, left the room, and now I can hear the coffee machine...

Oooh. Posh coffee on its way, Lily.

Good morning all.
A lazy start for me this morning. Didn't get out of my scratcher until 8.45 Blush. I've not been sleeping too well for months so making up for lost sleep.

An interesting and lovely read hearing about your nieces Lily. We are in sensible hands in the future with young people like them at the helm.
I see we have wandered down the Viking/Greek/Roman Road on our travels. An informative read Hippo.

I'll have one of everything Tracy except the black pudding.

I would feel in capable hands with Cam in charge of the NHS. What do you say we start a petition? I hope your lamps are still functioning well.

There was a weather warning on last night. So far it's dull and dry. Plenty of things to keep me occupied here.
Have a good day all.

thegcatsmother · 19/10/2020 10:06

Was a bit concerned about Macron's threat to bar the UK from the European energy market unless we rolled on fish, until some kind soul posted the state. We get most of our crude oil and natural gas from Norway, and then we can get it from the U.S., so no worries.

Starker is a Tata calling for a country wide lock down. We are low on cases in Cornwall and W Devon, why punish us?

Has anyone seen Xing lately?

TracysShoulder · 19/10/2020 10:09

I must admit I haven't come across Y A-B much before. I see she wrote for the Independent. Reading a couple of articles on the appearance on JV show, I'm very glad the show is on my boycott list. A tweet embedded in one of the articles was 'unavailable at this time'.

Grin at MrL.

realitychick67 · 19/10/2020 10:19

Morning all... after less than 4 hours' sleep last night I'm battling the urge to go back to bed, but determined to stay strong. I'll be chattier after some caffeine, hopefully. Grin Hope everyone is well.
Lily, I was sorry to read about Dizzy, such a shame.

Nelllyyy · 19/10/2020 10:22

Morning Clunkers,

Thank you for the breakfast @TracysShoulder, it looks the best. 😁

Glad I make you smile @LilyLangtrey. 😁

Glad I make you smile as well @AnneKipanki. 😁

Hope every one else is on good form.

Another new week, I don’t know about you but to me flies by far to quickly.

Well good news my car is back to working order, so I will be whizzing about again.

All the boring stuff done, I have showered and dressed, breakfast was poached egg on malted bread and 2 cups of tea.

Tuna salad for lunch, I think.

I went for my morning walk in the dark, it was still dark when I got back which I do not like.

The gas man is coming this afternoon to service the boiler, hopefully he can stop the constant clicking that it has been doing over the last few days and is annoying.

Enjoy the rest of your day everyone. 🌻

Nelllyyy · 19/10/2020 10:25

Forgot to add, now waiting for Pop Master to come on, sitting here with a frothy coffee. ☕️😁

TracysShoulder · 19/10/2020 10:26

I noticed Xing posting elsewhere in last week gcat but I'm no help as I can't remember which thread.

I read about Macron last night, with his threats. Angy will be having a word with him I expect. Wink

TracysShoulder · 19/10/2020 10:34

You've been a busy Nelly, Nelly. Grin
I thought about you when mr robin visited the bird table this morning.
You have inspired me to make tuna salad for brunch.

Looks like AB is turning down the 100 million Boris bung if reports are to be believed?

OVienna · 19/10/2020 10:45

Well hello there, you lot!

TracysShoulder · 19/10/2020 11:40

Good to see you made it over the thread bridge OVienna. Your usual comfy seat has been plumped up and the butlers will be straight over.

Doobigetta · 19/10/2020 11:41

Morning every, hope you’re all ok.
@LilyLangtrey, sorry to hear about Dizzy.

On the King in the North, I think it looks as though he’ll he’ll have to take the money and accept the lockdown now (which I’m not that happy about, I agree more with Graham Brady’s stance). But if that’s where we are, the priority has to be agreeing clear exit criteria, based either on a set period of time, or an agreed reduction in the number of new positive tests/hospitalisations, BEFORE we go into lockdown so it doesn’t drag on indefinitely.

DistantShores1 · 19/10/2020 11:51

Hello OVienna and Doobigetta.
Extra comfy seats have been made available for weary travellers to drop by.
Our butlers are trained to a high specification and buffed regularly for social hygiene purposes.
Our BC doors are always open to new customers.
It's what keeps us going 🙂

BakedCam · 19/10/2020 11:55

Morning again, Clunkers.

Eye test was successful- I have some rather swanky new reading glasses coming. Royal Blue. Still having to share a pair with Mr Cam. Austerity bites et al. They'll be ready next week.

gccat Thanks for keeping us informed on what is happening on Brexit.

On the North's impasse, Doo im inclined to agree with GB approach. Quite a powerful tool to have in GM's armoury. I do agree. GM does need a clear exit strategy rather than a shaky 'review in two weeks' as we know how that worked out in the national lockdown.

Interesting times.

BakedCam · 19/10/2020 11:56

Wow. He really has nailed his flag to a mast.

Must go patrol the news estate.

TracysShoulder · 19/10/2020 12:28

I spoke too soon about Y A-B. She's currently on BBBC's Politics Live along with Florence Eshalomi.
