Good evening, Clunkers!

Welcome to the Breakfast Club where the kettle is permanently on, the drinks flow and the snacks are both self-replenishing and calorie-free.

We start each day with a look at history and a tribute to a brave or inspiring woman. Mostly though, we just chat randomly about current affairs, recipes, life in lockdown, literature, music and anything else that comes into our heads.

Veteran Clunkers welcome. Anyone else who wants to join in the chat - sense of humour essential! - welcome.

Kettle's on ☕️☕️☕️

Good morning all. Thank you Lily - how can you forget to take Wallace and Gromit out of a cab? Did the person not wonder why their load seemed lighter?

TracysShoulder · 20/10/2020 07:40

gcat is the Tusk news on DT?

BakedCam · 20/10/2020 08:10

Morning, Clunkers,

Andy Burnham is practically sexy in his We leaders in Manchester will not be put into a lockdown

Oh and Clear Stammer - agree that he is being too much of a careful lawyer and following the science. Agree with gccat a national lockdown is not what the country needs, unfair for areas that have low numbers.

If No 10 decides to unilaterally override him, the lad has put up a right good fight.

OVienna · 20/10/2020 08:45

Great OTD! I wonder if there's a photo somewhere of the wife sitting next to the judge???

thegcatsmother · 20/10/2020 08:46

Tracy No, it's not. It's info from one of the well connected posters on another blog I frequent.

TracysShoulder · 20/10/2020 09:04

OVienna, I can't find a pic of the wife in court but this pic shows the bag Lily mentions.

In RL, I rarely eat breakfast but the gorgeous photos are making me reconsider. 😍
I wonder if KS is rethinking his 'path of least resistance' opposition strategy in light of AB's actions. It's unusual that the biggest challenge from the opposition has come from a mayor not the leader of the party. KS was always going to be a caretaker leader but I don't think anyone could have foreseen just how hands-off he was going to be.
Great photo of the judge's modesty bag. I'm a big fan of DH Lawrence. He's such a beautiful writer.

DistantShores1 · 20/10/2020 09:33

Good morning all.
Forming an orderly queue for breakfast. Thank you Tracy.

Your OTD was worth waiting for Lily. I remember learning about Grace Darling in Primary School over 40 years ago.
The story has always stayed with me.

If the judge and his lady wife were alive today, I wonder how they'd view today's literary offerings. They'd need to come with smelling salts.

Tsk, tsk, Tusk what have you been up to now.

How is your son settling in to his new job Zombie and how are you getting on too?

A very Autumnal day today. The leaves are really falling now.
Even in these topsy turvy times the seasons carry on.

Nelllyyy · 20/10/2020 09:51

Morning Clunkers.

Hope you are all ok?.

Thank you Lily for my history lesson. 👍🏻

Once again Tracy a big 👍🏻 for breakfast, it’s looks very colourful, to good to eat and drink. 👍🏻

Grace Darling, very courageous and I should think very scared at the

task in hand, but she did it. 👍🏻

Ah poor Wallace and Gromit, glad they were soon back in the right hands, I dare say Nick had had a few bevvies to celebrate, hence the leaving on the back seat of the cab. 👍🏻

Have not been for my morning walk, just didn’t feel like it, have pottered about this morning, showered and dressed, breakfast was banana on toast with a cheeky bit of honey and 2 cups of tea.

Lunch will be a summer wrap.

I need to sort out under the stairs, MrN was looking for something so is in a bit of a mess, hence him finding the paint for the hallway which we are doing next week, he doesn’t like that idea so is busy looking for a place to go way to for a week, I don’t think he is having much luck though, just hear him grumbling a lot. 👍🏻

Enjoy your day everyone. 👍🏻

Pop Master will on at 10.30, so between now and then I will be doing absolutely nothing. 👍🏻

StormzyinaTCup · 20/10/2020 10:25

Morning all thanks for OTD Lily and the lovely breakfast Tracy.

Pop Master will on at 10.30, so between now and then I will be doing absolutely nothing. 👍🏻

I too will be tuning in Nelly I like a bit of Ken and pop master to get the old brain going, hoping for some 80s questions otherwise I won’t make double figures😁

TracysShoulder · 20/10/2020 10:31

The pop master answers are always on the tip of my tongue but I just can't get at them Grin.

meercat23 · 20/10/2020 10:35

Morning all. Smiling at Mr Nellyyy looking for somewhere to go away go to rather than paint the hallway. Grin

TracysShoulder · 20/10/2020 10:42

I know how Mr Nelly feels. We have had the wallpaper for the living room since before lockdown, then the weather was too nice to do it. Not sure what the excuse is now.

AnneKipanki · 20/10/2020 10:51

I have had my bedroom wallpaper for 24 years. I can throw the box a party for it's Silver Anniversary.

TracysShoulder · 20/10/2020 11:14

Grin Anne. You win the thread today. Has the wallpaper got a retro look that would be fashionable now?

meercat23 · 20/10/2020 11:27

24 years. That's almost vintage. You could probably sell it or are you still hoping that it is going to get put up?

@MissSarahThane

My mum is one of those who gets rid of things and then regrets it. But two of her sisters lived in a lot of clutter and she was the one who had to do most of the work of clearing out their flats when the time came, so she's gone to the opposite extreme.

I try to steer a middle course, but there are some things I regret getting rid of.

Re @MissSarahThane.

I didn't need to read your last paragraph!!! Now I'm fretting about potential regret too. 😆

BakedCam · 20/10/2020 12:14

Well, the deadline has passed. I'm on pins here. Hoping @ZombieFan is watching.

AnneKipanki · 20/10/2020 12:19

It is a classic paper . Yellow with a sort of Delft blue flower and leaves scrolling .
I hope I don't need any more.

TracysShoulder · 20/10/2020 12:19

I'm watching Politics Live, but not sure how long for because Oor Ian is on.

Nelllyyy · 20/10/2020 12:19

😂😂😂😂😂👍🏻❤️😁
AnneKipanki · 20/10/2020 12:21

I have a cousin who downsized from a 5 bedroom house to a 1 bedroom flat in a retirement complex. She did not want her sons to clear out all her stuff.

Nelllyyy · 20/10/2020 12:21

😁😂😂👍🏻
TracysShoulder · 20/10/2020 12:22

Haha Anne, I'm not sure you'd get an exact pattern number match if you run out.

We could make a retro corner in the BC. Wink
