Morning, Clunkers!
No OTD this morning
but tomorrow, we bounce back on track.
I've just had a proper read of the last thirty posts or so of the last thread and you lot do know how to cheer me up! In no particular order..
YAB. I love that woman
Every time her face appears on TV and she opens her mouth to whinge speak, she galvanises MrL into action. He jumps up, shouts, "Not her again!" and storms off into the kitchen to make me a posh coffee. I do enjoy a posh coffee.
Apple crumble cake, mmm. That must have been you, Distant. At some stage in the near future, I think we need an offshoot of the BC - the Breakfast Club Baking Corner. Our new premises will be big enough. Those traybake recipes you gave us are now standard hits with Future Head Spook and Littlest Niece and with my sister as no oven required.
Viking words, Hippo? Oh yes, in Lancashire as well as Yawkshire. We still use dale, fell, gawp, midden, garth, gill, and there are lots of place names like Ormskirk, Skelmersdale and Burscough. Heysham has some Viking graves on the hill overlooking the bay. Littlest Niece is currently obsessed with Roman mythology and Norse mythology so my knowledge is being sorely tested.
Future Head Spook (my elder niece - think "11 year old Dinosaur Chickens") chose me as her case study for her religious studies homework: ask someone you know do they think they have a soul and if so/not, why?
I wrote a long, honest but very sensitive reply explaining that some people, such as Buddhists, believed in reincarnation (lots of explanation about reincarnation) and why I thought that was a lovely idea but that I don't believe I have a soul and when I die, that will be it. But I also said we live on in the memories of those we love and that I was trying my best to give her and LN good memories, and this made me happy. Silence. After a day or so, I got her response: "OK, thanks". So I WhatsApped my sister: was FHS OK? After all, this is a sensitive subject for children. "Oh, she's fine", said my sister. "She just ticked your reply off as 'job done' and she's onto the next homework task. She'll be back with some questions about Latin roots next week".
Love FHS. I tell you, GCHQ will be safe in her hands
I am ashamed to say that I haven't even looked at the news for nearly a week - too busy. At the moment, you lot are keeping me informed and Nelly is making me smile. Still, when things calm down here, I am planning on a day off with a huge pot of Yawkshire Tea, some of Teffy's Jaffa cakes and my unread copies of the Speccie. If I reach the bottom of the teapot, I'll just call out, "Guess who's on TV again? YAB!" and wait for a posh coffee to appear...
Kettle's on ☕️☕️☕️ and Tracy has the butlers setting up the pantry. See you all later...
