Big lie in for all the family here (although this doesn’t count as a lie in for DS1, not until about 4pm). Today there will be washing oooo and present delivering ahhhhh. There will also be not much else other than watching tv.

Today we will be present-wrapping and cake-icing and sprout-peeling and table-clearing... and doing drainage things There will also be washing. But I won't bother with that until the drainage stuff has been sorted. 'tis the season to get soggy, fa-la-la-la-la' etc...

Have just watched Nativity Goes Wrong with DS2. There was much cackling (me) and giggling (him). We will definitely watch it again

I am having lunch so far I have been powered by hot chocolate.

Today I have mostly been tidying, battening down the hatches outside, and trying to find where on earth the blocked downpipe goes so I can unblock it. I've dug down far enough, following it, that I've hot the water table (admittedly, not hard just now).

Still need to ice the cake and carry on tidying. How I love Christmas...

Afternoon. Nice day here, but I haven't been out.

I've finished the photo CDs. Sadly there aren't so many this year. I've also painted my nails to cheer myself up. Oh and I've started a trifle, although there'll be only us to eat it.

We've decided against eating at DD's tomorrow in view of the new variant thing and the fact that four of her colleagues have gone down with covid. She isn't in the same office and wasn't near them so doesn't have to self-isolate but we don't want to risk it just in case. We'll go round in the morning for a present exchange in their garden and have our Christmas meal here later.

FML, yes please LetUs I'm knackered and in need of some tlc. Just finished wrapping, house is vaguely tidy, and the cake has been iced with icing that's not setting and is gradually creeping across the board like slow moving lava.

On the other hand, I'm counting my blessings because part of this evening was spent next door helping them move furniture out of their flooded hallway , so really I've not got much to complain about.

I would rather like to just fall into bed, but I said I'd go to the midnight service, which will be a bit of a damp squib without being able to sing carols.

Oh Helen, that all sounds rather a lot. Are you definitely committed to the midnight service? You really sound like you need a rest. I bet you’ve got a very busy day tomorrow. The cake is mimicking a snowdrift obviously - hyper realism and all that. And it’ll taste delicious.

We’re watching a documentary about Denis Law. For as much as I’ve got mightily fed up with football recently, I’m enjoying this.

We have '8 out of 10 cats...' I could live without it. I am just tired and grouchy now. And it's either hailing again, or lashing down with rain. Raining.

I ought to get some socks on.

Did some outside socially distanced visits this morning, relaxed in the afternoon and DH did us proud today with Christmas dinner.

This morning the sunrise was a vibrant orange slash in the clouds, before it al faded to grey.

It feels far too early to be up. Probably because I was up far too late. Still, we stripped the turkey and there's stock bubbling away in teh slow cooker. And now, as ever, I am a cat bed.

Tidying to be done today and probably some ironing. For now, I’m watching Singin’ In The Rain that i recorded yesterday. Loving the dancing and oo-ing at the clothes.

Evening. I'm back to my unglamorous self today.

DS came round at lunchtime with the DGC for another present exchange on the drive. I also did them a takeaway meal as he didn't want to miss his Christmas lunch here. It was more trouble than if they'd eaten here. I forgot the Yorkshire puds he requested but he managed to find some at home.

Well done to MrLetUs. DH did help but the touble with that is that he suggests something and I say 'no' and he argues and it ends up a battle.

It's fine to be lazy WW.

I'm now going to do sod all for the rest of the day.

I have mostly done not very much today other than the washing up and a couple of loads of washing. And eat chocolate.

Watched Bridgerton on Netflix, a regency drama or something like that, nice costumes, quite a lot of shagging going on, the kind we wanted in TM but never got. Entertaining but probably will have forgotten about it next week.
