Morning wenches.

Ah yes, Queen Tara Fitzgerald’s bondage dress Grin. And Aramis’s hair and his voice and The Stare and basically everything.

We watched I, Tonya last night. Very good, particularly the fabulous Allison Janney.

Washing, ironing, homework, DS1 packing, socially distanced visiting, and then increased panic re tomorrow.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/09/2020 09:47

Morning all.

Acronym list - I swear to god I ought to be able to find one. We used to set them out at the start of each thread at one point - mainly for newbies and lurkers and also, how did you end up in here MrsG - it's not like we're an especially active thread these day. Not when we used to feature in the trending list and someone started a new thread to complain about us Grin Grin Grin We laughed, people replying to the OP laughed, and then we annexed that thread too.

Anyway, here we go. SisterHelen's Acronym and Grammer Guide
FAF - Fit as Fuck - used as a noun and an adjective.
e.g. He is FAF! I am watching the FAF

HBF - Hot Beardy Fucker - Noun
e.g. Where are the HBFs?

TAE - Totes a euphamism - explanation; usually unnecessary
e.g. He can help me in the garden

NAE - Totes a euphamism - explanation; just to make things clear
e.g. He can help me in the garden

YTO/NTO - Yes that one/Not that one - explanation as per e.g to differentiate between TB for Tom Burke and TB for TwatBadger.

NIAGW - Not in a good way - description.
e.g. I got all hot and sticky - niagw

IYSWIM - If you see what I mean - just that. I think that's used outside of the Tavern as well, but I'm not sure about any of the others. They might be ours?

Cwtch - not an acronym. It's a Welsh hug/cuddle I think.

In other news, it's is lovely and sunny outside. We have new chickens who are being a bit bullied Angry but I'm not overly worried because they're big. I've had a word with Scruffy though, because she should know better - being on the receiving end of it herself. So far they are called 'The Twins' which doesn't bode well for us ever being able to tell which is which. Also, I have dropped weetabix on Stupid Cat, who didn't notice or care. But I hope she has a wash before she starts smelling of gone-off milk Confused

No actually sure what I'm doing today (apart from Athos - obvs.)

(It was Friesians Fancy (which lead to an amusing discussion where the difference between cows and horses had to be flagged up) and their head carriage was too high. Bless her. These things are obviously important if you (think you) know your horses. They were actually used as war horses early on though. But yes - who cares about horses.costumes when you look at the riders/wearers.)

Didn't the costumes get a bafta for S1?

There was a thread complaining about us? Grin

Athos is so delicious in that ep "Draw if you wish, it would be our duty to kill you and incidentally our pleasure"

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/09/2020 12:00

Oh FFS at self. There was bound to be a mistake though. Inevitable.

NAE - NOT a euphamism - explanation; just to make things clear
e.g. He can help me in the garden

In real life, no-one has been helping me in the garden, though I have been called in to help with homework.

MarriedtoDaveGrohl · 20/09/2020 12:00

Morning all (1 minute to go!) still lazing in bed then off for a nice long pub lunch! Lovely day here in lardarn town. Anywsy..., I going this thread in active threads! It pops up all the time!

MarriedtoDaveGrohl · 20/09/2020 12:04

Here you go! The evidence M'lud. And thanks for the acronym list! The Iyswim is deffo not a Inn only one but the others are. Soon to be copied by the masses no doubt.

MarriedtoDaveGrohl · 20/09/2020 12:06

Oh a shitephone typo. I found this thread in active threads.

Can't believe someone started a thread to complain Grin. How very MN.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/09/2020 15:13

Oh, LOL. I had no idea we were considered an 'active' thread. 'Other Stuff' must be dead for us to be considered active enough for an alert. Oh well.

I have dug and weeded and been fighting with insects and stinging nettles. And also had lunch. It's a thrill a minute round here. (Homework also got done. Star for DS)

Oh - x-post with LetUs this morning. Grin at Queen Tara Fitzgerald’s bondage dress. I saw her once in London. Apricot was with me. Fortunately for all concerned I remained rooted to the spot and didn't approach her, since my opening gambit was to hit DH and go "Look! It's thingy!!!! You know - from... erm..." and then draw a blank on what I'd seen her in apart from TM - never mind GoT and everything else she's ever done. Hmm

Good luck with packing and stuff LetUs - it will all be fiiiiine.

I should be doing stuff

LetUsPrey · 20/09/2020 16:19

Athos did have some particularly great lines in that episode, delivered brilliantly

Hope you’ve had a delicious lunch in That There Lunnon Town MrsG

Awww at new chickens

Most packing done. Farewells to grandparents —he’ll be less than an hour away— ongoing.

I’ve done the dishes to music from 1998. Some absolute belters - Placebo on at the moment.

And now I shall start the ironing with the first of True Blood. Oooooo!

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 20/09/2020 16:21

Think I remember now, didn't they think we were prolific or something?

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 20/09/2020 16:51

Afternoon.
Have been out in the garden - moving plants & sieving compost. Oh the glamour Grin Trying to summon up the energy to do a bit of work - mostly just a bit of printing & prep for Tuesday. Rather relieved I got new contact lenses yesterday - reading the motorway signs on the largecircularcarpark this week was erm challenging. Thank god for satnav. I will also have a better view of faf on my tv screen just in time for an episode of Lucifer tonight

Are you north or south of the river MrsG? either way, I hope you've had an enjoyable lunch

Most impressed at packing status letus - can he give my DS a few pointers?

Aw at new chickens helen - any pics?

ApricotCrush · 20/09/2020 17:50

Afternoon.

As I remember it, the complaining thread was about one of Malc's titles which they said sounded 'rapey'. Shock

Oh, new chickens, hope they're not like Houdini. Hmm

Good luck to NotSoMiniLetUs for tomorrow.

Well done ww! Will have fun reading that later

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/09/2020 19:13

LOL, I also found it but was busy reading it. That means I've been reading for rather a long time. oops Blush Grin It only lasted 3 days, from the time when I wasn't constantly on MN apparently. Gosh... aeons ago then.

apricot we saw OtherFans too - roaming round the place in hunting formation while we sat in the bar and blethered ('Who has time' etc) I believe that their efforts were in vain. I think TB's days of chatting to random fans in bars are long gone. (Unless we kidnap him and tie him to a bar stool in the tav.) Grin

New chickens are very much like Houdini in looks, but no-one has escaped from the new run yet. The Twins (DS says one is 'Spot' so DH has named the other one 'Stripe' Hmm ) look more likely to make a break for it at the moment.

I need to do tidying or we'll have nowhere to sit for our 'Film-and-tea' night... DH has already 'reminded' me once that I said I'd tidy, FFS and all that... Best get it done or he'll ramp up his 'disapproving' face.

Laters... (much laters, I imagine) Have a fun evening!

LetUsPrey · 20/09/2020 19:19

The pointer DS1 would give FancyDS would be “get your mum to do it” Blush

Grin at knowing but not knowing TB Apricot.

I’ve had a quick read through that thread - well done on finding it Wicked.

Ooo Fancy, I know you don’t watch Strictly but Monkseal (who is very bloody amazingly fantastic) has done his final blog which is lots of his favourite moments from many series. I saw this one, nodded and thought of you Grin “Johnnie Peacock dressed as Indiana Jones for Movie Week/a cowboy for no reason whatsoever : I mean…it was just…Jesus Christ…he was so very…Jesus…ok give a minute.“

I have watched the first two episodes of True Blood which I had to keep pausing because DH and/or DC kept walking into the room. Love it! Very much like Bill, and Sookie is fab.

MarriedtoDaveGrohl · 20/09/2020 20:58

Oh haha. Just saw the complaint thread. Ffs snd omfg. Pissed and in a cab but will be less do of one and not the other in approx 40 mins

FancyFancy · 20/09/2020 21:00

Grin we love pissed posts on this thread

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 20/09/2020 22:30

LOL at the other thread - there are cushions and consciousness - as if we don't have them? Grin We also have crocheted blankets in the cwtch cupboard Grin

So, I'm a bit pooped. The film night didn't go terribly well - it turned out to be one of those films that they break in two, so when I set it up to record, I only recorded the first half. oops! DH and DS have been, understandably, laughing at me. I am going to make the most of the unexpectedly early finish by heading for the hayloft, It's been a long day.

Also, weekend wildlife report - saw one of the hares for the first time in a while. There's probably been other stuff too, but my brain is shutting down for the night.

MarriedtoDaveGrohl · 20/09/2020 22:47

Ah hayloft and hares. Sounds lovely. I wouldn't have to console myself with a tub of salted caramel ice cream if there were haylofts and hares here 😁

What a day though! Glorious! Like summer!!!

As for cushions and consciousness. Forgive me for saying it but fuck that shit. What's wrong with hot men I say?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/09/2020 08:09

Morning all. Lovely misty morning - mostly burnt off now. The geese are shouting their heads off still and finding safer (until the guns come out again) fields to land in.

DS fell asleep again after his alarm went off and did a pretty much vertical take-off followed by hyperventilation when I woke him up again. Bless - I'm sure he'll settle down, he seems a lot more anxious this term about being late - last year he was rolling out of bed quite unconcerned and I was the one chivvying him along.

Safe travels LetUs - big hugs for DS1; Flowers Cake Wine Gin for you!

Did Lucifer get his kit off for you last night Fancy, or is he still being a tease?

LetUsPrey · 21/09/2020 08:25

Morning wenches

Thanks Helen. Anywench care to guess what four pints of milk looks like when you drop the carton on a floor? I could have taken a picture just now to save you the imagining. FML. Bit funny really Grin

Anyway for MrsG

Right best start playing Tetris in the car

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 21/09/2020 08:39

Oh lordy.
Shall we send all the Tav Cats to lick up the milk - waste not, want not, and all that... Grin

MarriedtoDaveGrohl · 21/09/2020 08:51

Oh dear letusprey I cant say exactly what it might look like. But I can certainly imagine what it smells like. What a lovely start to the week! Are you going on hols (chance would be a fine thing)?

Lol at your DS Sister Helen the school have obviously implemented some consequence based technique he's keen to avoid. Best not to ask, and just enjoy the break from chivving. Youve got enough with disapproving DHs and unnamed chickens. I'm a bit disapproving of disapproving husbands personally . I'm sure he's very good most of the time. If not send him to me. We will have A Chat.

So it's overcast here and there are no geese. The seventy million cats my neighbours have have also ensured there are bugger all birds. But I need to go and do some pointless digging as my local blackbird always appreciates that a great deal. If it's still alive that is. I've literally never seen anything cram so much in its beak. It kind of holds what it's got and somehow hops along adding more wriggling things. How it's not fat as f I'll never know.

Then it's off to start another week at t'mill. Yay. I've brought in a new GM (sounds grander than it is) who I'm hoping to pass a lot of my scut work off to. But he's male and they tend to be slightly less easy to convince that crap paperwork is Vital Company Business. On the plus side definitely easier to boss around than women, who take umbrage at being given 'orders' by other women. But the General in General managed basically means everything I don't want to do. And he's used to it. I hope.
