Oh MiniHelen Sad. The poor little love. It’s shit isn’t it? No wise words that you won’t already have said to him but big for you.

I’m going to finish my drink, watch a bit more Hobbit and then get to the hayloft. I’m back at work tomorrow.

Hope MiniHelen is asleep soon.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 31/08/2020 23:06

Good luck with work tomorrow LetUs - are you swapping with NiceColleague, or are you both back in the office now? The HBFs are waiting...

I'm also heading for the hayloft, once I've cleaned up my foot which I bashed in DS's room and now it appears I've bent.snapped the nail right back and my little toe is bloody - woe, woe, tiny violin, etc....

LetUsPrey · 01/09/2020 08:25

Morning wenches.

How’s MiniHelen this morning? When does he start back? DS2’s school starts Wednesday, but he’s not back until Thursday.

We’re both in at work so it’ll be lovely to see NiceColleague. It’d be even lovelier if the HBFs were there too

Hope the toe isn’t too sore. I’m sure Athos will kiss it better and then work his way all the way up.

I am imagining Fancy sitting at home in front of the tv muttering “mmm lycra” and being all overcome

Right. Work.

FancyFancy · 01/09/2020 08:28

Morning
Went for a long walk with FancyMan yesterday - very nice despite some of the route instructions being a bit vague. Oh and one field has obviously been planted with maize since they were written, obliterating the footpath Hmm. Was very tired afterwards but feeling good as did over 13,000 steps.

School routines are going to be a bit odd this year, sure loads of them are going to get stuff wrong - the older ones more so being more set in their ways. So hopefully DS will adapt quicker than them Helen!

Maybe you can tweak the holiday mantra of 'tickets, money, passport' Letus?. Adverts and media articles like to overcomplicate everything so we spend more money . Barring a few essentials, most things aren't needed on day one and can be bought online and delivered direct to DC. the little buggers don't seem to unpack half their stuff anyhow

FancyFancy · 01/09/2020 10:05

One thing that does seem different from back in my day is parents taking the DC to the supermarket/homewares store after unloading at halls. Don't. Grin bloody heaving apparently

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/09/2020 10:14

Domestic chaos - blocked drains, inaccessible soakaway (need to shift some wood) a window that has decided that closing is for wimps Hmm Happy days. DS seems slightly happier and has been packed off for a morning of running about outside with other children which is always good. He's not back until a week Friday due to staggered starts Shock

Also, my toe is a bit grim - I'm sure that some tlc from HBFs would sort it out.

ApricotCrush · 01/09/2020 17:38

Afternoon. Lovely day here, I've been topping up my tan.

Hope work went well LetUs. Grin at SpecialTea.

Eeek at toenail Helen.

DGS starts Middle School tomorrow. Shock The intake is from three different schools, so there'll be a lot of children he won't know. Every time DD has mentioned it he's said "don't talk about school". Sad

LetUsPrey · 01/09/2020 19:19

Evening wenches.

Work was like I’d not been away and it was super to see NiceColleague. I think if I’d gone back on Thursday as planned, swapping over, it would have been rather horrible and a bit overwhelming. Anyway, it’s done.

Walk sounds lovely Fancy, if a little frustrating in places.

Yes, I suspect there’ll be a lot of deliveries being made to halls Grin. We’re being fairly sensible though —I think—.

Crikey Helen that sounds a lot going on Sad. Although did a bit of a at the description of the window deciding closing is for wimps. Pleased that MiniHelen seems a bit happier about things.

oh bless DGS. Our high school has a large intake too from lots of different schools. I remember when we went for a meeting sort of thing before DS2 started and we saw all these children, a lot of whom seemed so much more mature, and DS2 just went even quieter than ever. Big for DGS and for your DD too.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 01/09/2020 21:35

Evening. How did I ever keep up with the thread when we were at peak posting? I didn't of course, but... now I read half a dozen posts and can't remember what was in the first one by the time I read the last one Confused It's clearly 'senile dimensions' as I once announced to DH Grin

Glad that Fancy had a good walk - even if machetes were needed to actually follow the path! And hurrah for sunbathing Apricot - it was really hot here when the sun was out, but not at all when the sun was behind clouds.

Glad that work went well LetUs - hope it wasn't so much as usual that you had to deal with TwattishColleagues as well as NiceColleague.

Still haven't watched Strike, so you're well ahead of me Wicked

Schools, universities, just it's all stress isn't it? I have at least established that DS's best friend is expected to go back to school too(another cause of stress - he though that friend was going to be home schooled).

In other news, the drains have been sorted, DS has had a day of much running about with friends, and the window people didn't turn up - DH is seething about the latter. And I gleaned some potatoes off the road that were dropped during the harvest. Rural excitement! Grin

LetUsPrey · 01/09/2020 23:03

Senile dimensions Grin

That’s good news re MiniHelen’s friend. at non-appearing window people and oooo at runaway potatoes which you managed to scoop!

To help combat the stress, I have engaged in educational activity with lovely Simon. I am now heading to the hayloft to engage in more educational activity with him.

LetUsPrey · 02/09/2020 08:52

Morning wenches.

Just spilled a cup of milk all over the settee. Excellent start to the day. Have left instructions with a half comatose DS1 to put the washing out when it’s done. Hmm

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/09/2020 10:25

Morning. I am feeling thoroughly demotivated. It's lovely and sunny outside, but I'm trawling though spreadsheets. FML (apart from the bit where I do actually have a job, which is good)

FancyFancy · 02/09/2020 12:00

Morning
Glad the drains are sorted helen

I feel for the ones going to new schools apricot, they've had a long time to stress about it. Hopefully all DC will feel less daunted when they're actually back, in the meantime Wine Cake all round. Age appropriately of course Grin

Are you taking bets on whether the washing will be out when you get home letus?

LetUsPrey · 02/09/2020 16:23

Afternoon wenches. Hope DGS’s first day went okay Apricot.

Who had money on DS1 not emptying the washing machine? Please collect your winnings from the appropriate booth. Fucksake. I asked DS2 - during texts about something else - whether DS1 had emptied the washing and he said yes. Later phoned me to let me know they’d brought the washing in when it started raining. I’d already put the seat cushion covers on the line. Turns out DS2 misunderstood the question and DS1 claims he was never told the empty the machine. He’s done absolutely fuck all today. He knows how to fill the dishwasher - not done. Done nothing else he was supposed to be doing for himself. It’s taken me an hour to get home. It’s been pissing it down all afternoon - guess who didn’t wear a coat to work - there’s bloody roadworks everywhere and temporary lights abound. So fuck it. Fuck it all.

And we’re supposed to be going to Ikea tonight. Not sure I can face it.

ApricotCrush · 02/09/2020 17:50

Afternoon. Tipping it down here.

DH's car was in for an MOT yesterday. Guess what, he forgot and they can't get it in until four days after it expires. Shock That means he'll be taking my car to golf next week. Not happy. Angry

Oh LetUs what a day you've had. Wine Chocolate [HBFs]

I think DGS had a good day. He told DD he'd made three new friends, but he does tend to tell people what he thinks they want to hear. Hmm

FFS at the manshapes who can't do housework and forget about MOTs. all round, with extra Gin for LetUs and suitable Wine for apricot

LetUsPrey · 02/09/2020 20:32

Oh hey MrApricot, there’s a very exclusive, surprising golf course I’d like to show you. It’s just down those steps. A bit dark? No, no, it’s fine. That’s part of the surprise. You can keep DS1 company, I mean play golf.

Let’s hope DGS did make new friends today and had fun. He’ll be a dab hand at this new school lark before he knows it.

DS2 has everything ready for tomorrow and I’ve been over stuff with him a few times.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/09/2020 22:32

I'm taking DS to get his feet measured tomorrow - that will be thrilling. Hmm and I need to do fruit stuff - I picked up a lad of windfalls this morning and have stewed them up, so I feel like I've achieved something other than just staring at spreadsheets and hunting down invoices today. It's all rather underwhelming though.

LetUs - the HBFs say that you need a nice relaxing bath with a glass of something alcoholic...

I think that I need the hayloft.

LetUsPrey · 03/09/2020 07:58

Morning wenches.

What’s that Helen? It was windy and Athos fell into your bed and spread the sheets? —can’t think of anything for invoices—

Good luck with the shoe shopping.

DS2 is up and filled with much excitement for the return to school. Or he’s up and grumpy because he’s tired. Such a puzzle as to which is true.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/09/2020 10:31

Morning. I had a lie in (after chickens etc) Which was very nice, and involved being pinned down in bed under HBFs cats. I have to go shopping shortly, best get dressed really.

LetUs - lets go for Athos being spread out on the sheets, and um.. no. I've got nothing for invoices either.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/09/2020 18:13

Evening. Shoe shopping was achieved (with bonus result of the shoes being in the sale!), and about 8lb of plums have been stewed... It's also stopped raining, which is nice.

ApricotCrush · 03/09/2020 18:30

Evening. No rain here either.

Flytrap Update: DD's flytrap, bought at the same time as ours, has caught 3 flies so far. Ours has caught none. I put it by a fly in the kitchen yesterday and it's still on the window. I need to have words.

Glad the shoe shopping was successful Helen.

Hope LetUs DS2 had a good day.

LetUsPrey · 03/09/2020 19:15

Evening wenches.

Excellent shoe shopping there Helen! And well done on the plum stewing.

Am Grin at your flytrap Apricot compared to your DD’s more industrious one. Perhaps yours is dieting?

DS2 has had a good day back - as far as I can establish given that he’s never been particularly chatty about school, but neither was DS1.

I’ve been out for a run and intend to do not much for the rest of the evening. Except for HBFs.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/09/2020 21:10

The rain gauge says 6mm rain today (exciting stuff).

Hmm at Apricot's dieting flycatcher. LOL at putting it next to a fly though - I have visions of Apricot glaring at the flycatcher and telling it to go fetch the fly Grin

Glad that DS2 is not complaining about going back to school LetUs - even if he's not enthusing about it either. We'll assume he had a good day. Grin

Hope that Fancy DD had a good day too. How's the composter doing?

Any house news Wicked? What needs doing at your apartment?
