Hurrah for lovely peaceful walks in the rain. We haven't had any rain, so my excitement was jamming 3lb of plums. Whoop.

ApricotCrush · 27/08/2020 17:35

Afternoon. Another miserable wet day here.

Well done with the jamming Helen. That's the trouble with growing your own produce, it all arrives at once. I remember my DM being overwhelmed at this time of year with apples, pears, raspberries, gooseberries, blackcurrants and rhubarb. Then there was my DF's allotment, so there was all the veg as well.

I did a load of raspberry jam two years ago from DS's allotment and there's still some left. A pile of damsons arrived last year from a golfing mate and they're still at the bottom of the freezer. Blush DH now tells me some more are on the way. Damson jam is very nice, but it's such a pain with the stones and skin. Argh!

Glad you were able to go to the attraction LetUs and the walk after sounds lovely.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/08/2020 18:04

Damsons actually stone fairly well with a cherry stoner. DH makes wine from them - he says the wine's not the best, but it's a really nice base for mulled wine. We also have raspberries in the freezer from previous years, and antique fermented well matured jam. I actually picked some pears because if then haven't got bruised they'll last for ages in the fridge - gives me a bit of breathing space!

LetUsPrey · 27/08/2020 20:31

I did a at jamming plums Grin

DH always ends up with a load of rhubarb from my uncle’s allotment. I’m not sure what he does with it but he cooks it up or something. I don’t ask.

I remember going blackberry picking along the brambles that ran along the field at the back of my grandma’s house. There was a lot of jam and crumbles and pies.

DS1 feeling a bit more positive about the uni situation (as much as you can tell with him) helped in large part to an email from the place he’s going to saying he’s been awarded/qualified for a scholarship because of his grades. It’s dependent on performance during the degree and it’s worth £1,000 a year! So I’ve been able to reiterate that his grades were bloody good and he should always listen to mum as Mum Knows Best Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/08/2020 20:34

Hurrah for DS1 LetUs - excellent morale booster for him, and cunningly doubling up as an incentive to keep on trying his best Grin

LetUsPrey · 27/08/2020 22:35

Sneaky isn’t it?

We’ll be making lists of stuff he’ll be taking with him and starting to buy what needs to be bought. This will include a big bottle of vodka with a mixer of denial for me.

DS2 is still very much awake and is pretty much bouncing off the walls. Super.

LetUsPrey · 28/08/2020 09:42

Morning wenches.

Had a lovely lie in this morning. Post-holiday washing is well underway. We were only away for four days but it looks like two weeks’ worth of washing. Raining though so it’s on the drier thing.

A day of tidying today. How thriling

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/08/2020 10:57

Morning. Bit of a early/late start - DS swapped beds in the early hours, I eventually got back to me own bed at about 7am, then woke up again at 8:45, sympathising with DH for having to get up and work. Then realised that I also had 15 minutes to get up and get logged in Grin

Isn't raining here, but the rain gauge tells me that we had 3cm overnight. How's the composter doing Fancy?

Best crack on with work...

FancyFancy · 28/08/2020 13:33

Afternoon.
There was a LOT of rain here yesterday - much of it in the compost bin it seems Hmm

Glad to hear DS is a bit more positive letus - he deserves to feel good with those grades.

I have plums (stewed) in the freezer - from helen, now have to do something with the apples from FancyMan's mum.

We're all ready for you letus pink fizz is in the fridge

LetUsPrey · 28/08/2020 14:43

I suspect when it comes to rain, having 3cm overnight is okay. When it comes to having other things overnight, 3cm very much not okay Grin

You’re right Fancy and I know you’re right. I think DS1 is realising that we’re alllll right.

It’s my wedding anniversary today. Would it be wrong to celebrate with Lucifer and pink fizz at Fancy’s —I wish—? I mean, it’s not like we’ve anything planned at home and it’s not a significant number.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/08/2020 17:30

at different contexts for 3cm Grin

I spent one of my birthdays away at a meet-up. So I think that it would demonstrate that you have a strong and happy marriage LetUs. Grin

I have to get DS off the xbox...

Do you need a raincoat for the composter Fancy? Or perhaps a HBF with an umbrella on permanent standby?

ApricotCrush · 28/08/2020 17:48

Afternoon. More rain.

Happy wedding anniversary LetUs. It was ours last Sunday, Facebook reminded me. DH was out all day at DS's so it went uncelebrated. As usual. Hmm Yay for DS1.

I'm sure I've seen Lucifer on Amazon Video. Should I be watching it? I've also spotted Outlander, so that will be on the list.

ApricotCrush · 28/08/2020 17:48

Although Jamie is of course on the list. Grin

LetUsPrey · 28/08/2020 19:03

You’re absolutely right Helen. I would simply be showing the depth of my affection.

First three series of Lucifer I think are on Amazon, although I haven’t checked recently. Grin at lists and lists.

Happy anniversary for last Sunday.

I have ironed. There was a lot.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/08/2020 22:20

Star for ironing.

I'm a bit tired. I should probably go to bed. I probably won't though.

LetUsPrey · 28/08/2020 23:02

Or you could FAF instead Helen?

Seeing as I can’t do Lucifer and the pink fizz with Fancy by way of celebrating my anniversary, I instead thought I’d better watch something with DH to further demonstrate my affection. So we’ve watched another Simon programme Grin. It’s educational —and he’s FAF—

DS2 is still very awake. I can hear him explaining loudly to DH why he doesn’t think he should go to sleep.

I may head to the hayloft and see what else Simon can teach me and vice versa.

LetUsPrey · 29/08/2020 11:15

Morning wenches.

Only woke up just before 9. Been for a run which was absolute garbage. I know I’ve not been out for a while but I’m disappointed with how crap I was.

Very sad news re Chadwick Bozeman who played Black Panther in the Marvel films amongst other roles. He was only 43 Sad

Suppose I’d better have a shower and then crowbar DS1 out of bed.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/08/2020 11:45

Morning. It's very sad about Chadwick Bozeman Sad

Star for getting out for a run at all LetUs - you've had a break so it's always hard work to re-establish a routine - never mind doing the actual running. Weirdly, my bike rides seem to have peaked and now just a medium one seems like awfully hard work, when before the longer ones were fine. Confused Who knows. You;re probably mentally tired as well, from all the educational TV you've been watching. Wink

Lots of rain here. Which means indoor activities like slouching on the sofa housework HBFs Grin

ApricotCrush · 29/08/2020 17:57

Afternoon. Nice day here, but it's now raining. Got the washing in just in time. Hmm

I'll put Lucifer on the list LetUs.

I don't know who Chadwick Bozeman is, so googled. Yes, very sad. Sad

We're back to where we were before we got lost with Vikings, so will start season 6 again. Confused

LetUsPrey · 29/08/2020 20:58

Oh yes, I’m definitely mentally exhausted from all that learning I’ve been doing Grin

You need to rest your legs Helen. Possibly on Athos’s shoulders.

Both DS1 and DH have driven me potty today. DS1 with just general lack of effort again and DH with his bloody car insurance. He’s been driving for years and has obviously sorted out his insurance many times before, but for some reason he was incapable of doing it himself and needed my help. There was nothing complicated or anything, but he went on and on and on.

Did a bit of shopping and am now treating myself to a rather nice M&S raspberry vodka. More learning later Wink

Must remember about watching Vikings.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/08/2020 21:53
LetUsPrey · 29/08/2020 22:50

As long as you landed on your back when you fell over Helen, I’m sure Athos won’t mind Grin

Wench eye test. Can you read these letters? FAF. HBF. TAE. NTO. NIAGW.

We’re in the Mediterranean at the moment. Simon has been a little overcome with the wonder of a rather stunning archaeological site, and was then quite excited to be at the location of Luke Skywalke’s house. I love him even more than before Grin

LetUsPrey · 30/08/2020 09:51

Morning wenches.

Happy Strike Day!

Sunny here. Washing already out.

How’s the house search going Wicked?

Not sure of other plans for today.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/08/2020 11:14

Morning.
LOL at Happy Strike Day Grin So it is - hurrah!

Not sure what plans are today - lots of sport on TV this afternoon, so DH will be glued. We still have copious piles of fruit to deal with before it goes off.

FancyFancy · 30/08/2020 12:00

Morning.

DS headed back off up North yesterday and then DD & I had an afternoon shopping and then dinner and cocktails out. Followed by more Lucifer.

You definitely should watch Lucifer apricot. Tom Ellis is of course hot, but it's also funny.

Tour de France has started, so there will be lycra watching at Chateau Fancy. But not tonight as FancyMan is coming round.
