Morning
Went for a walk yesterday, managed not to get too wet.

My car beeps stridently at me whenever the steering drifts. Not very useful when smoothly going round a parked car or weaving round the various roadworks due to unpopularmassiveinfrastructueproject

LetUsPrey · 16/08/2020 10:59

Morning wenches.

My car beeps when it gets to 4° or below like lots do, not sure it beeps at other times.

Ironing beckons. I haven’t ironed for about three weeks. Fun fun fun.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/08/2020 11:35

Morning. I got up stupid early again and did the chores and went back to bed again. The Manshapes didn't notice, so Stupid Cat very cleverly told them that she hadn't been fed and got extra breakfast Grin #StupidCatIsNotStupid

My car also does the beep thing, but at 3 degrees (temperature - it's not set off by musical warblings). Being a Wench car, I like to think that it's shorthand for 'Fuck me it's a bit nippy', rather than the anodyne 'Snowflake Alert' that also flashes up.

In other important news, we had rain overnight - twice at least (it work me up). I've put a load of washing on because it needs to be done, rather than thinking it will dry outside today.

ApricotCrush · 16/08/2020 17:42

Afternoon. We've been promised thunderstorms all day but nothing has materialised yet, although the lightning map shows them getting closer.

My car, being 22 years old, doesn't communicate at all with me, for which I am grateful. Grin

We're going to start watching Career of Evil again if DH doesn't go to sleep so we're up to date when the new one starts. I would imagine they filmed the start of it while they were up at Masham. I can't think they dragged everything up there again and got everyone suited and booted to match the previous footage.

How's the rash WW?

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 16/08/2020 17:57

Rash update: Looks a lot better, yay! Btw, did you know that you can be allergic to wine? Confused A faith worse than death indeed. Not the wine utself but the apparently put color in some wines that you could be allergic to.

I tested Filmon.com again and it looks like I can record strike and watch it on my PC Smile

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/08/2020 18:12

Hurrah for the improving rash Wicked and yes, I had heard that about wine Confused

We have thunder... 40 miles away according the the map. So getting closer, but not that close. It's a bit murky outside, but that's just evening and it being cloudy.

LetUsPrey · 16/08/2020 21:12

Grin at StupidNotStupidCat and at wench car translation

Also Grin at Apricot’s car thankfully not speaking to her

We apparently have thunderstorms due around midnight. It’s currently chucking it down.

Hurrah for rash looking better Wicked! I think Richard E Grant said he was allergic to wine when I was watching an episode of Hotel Secrets and I thought “that’s unfortunate”. Excellent Strike availability news.

I’ve been watching my recorded episodes of Good Karma Hospital. DH and the DC are watching football.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/08/2020 22:11

Pfft to lightning maps - we've just had a flash and it's not even showing on the map. Then again, the rumble took ages, so maybe it is on the map and it's just miles away. But actually, no - the flashes are in a different direction to the ones that the map is showing. I'm feeling very disillusioned.

Also, I think my internet (or the browser) is dodgy at the moment.

erm... brain is mostly dead I think. An early night is needed, despite this weekend's lie-ins.

LetUsPrey · 16/08/2020 22:26

So the map might not be right?! Get yourself to the hayloft Helen and rest in whatever way you choose.

Just had a lovely row with DH and DS1. DS1 said something was my fault, which I objected to —loudly—, and then I got told I take everything personally. Well I fucking wonder why. Jolly super, seeing as we’re out on a family trip tomorrow morning. Sigh.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/08/2020 22:35

How are you supposed to take being told that something is your fault, if not personally? FFS Angry

Internet seems to have sorted itself out again, but thunder has stopped. I really am heading for bed now. Which means that Inconvenient Cat has just hauled himself up off the floor and wants to curl up on me. Hmm

LetUsPrey · 16/08/2020 22:42

And that Helen, is where their argument falls down, which I of course pointed out —again loudly and with colourful language—

It seems InconvenientCat is a mind reader. Do you think that extends to telling the future? Could you get InconvenientCat to pick out six numbers from between 1 - 49?

I’m going to carry on —sighing over Simon R— learning stuff about Russia. So far, Russia is big and bits of it are very bloody cold.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/08/2020 07:50

Morning all. DS is in a strop with me because I dared make him get ready for Day One of his SportingActivityWeek and pack his own bag. Shock Frankly, I'm surprised I haven't been reported to childline due to my unreasonable and cruel behaviour Hmm

Then I have to meet colleagues in local park for socially responsibly distanced gossip team meeting, then get home and cook lunch for DF, and then at least look at the freelance job I've underestimated, and then pick up DS again. I should probably also get dressed before doing any of this.

Have a good day LetUs - hope that your manshapes have given their heads a wobble and behave themselves today.

LetUsPrey · 17/08/2020 07:58

Morning wenches.

You monster Helen! How could you be so cruel?

Hope the weather stays fine for your —gossip— meeting and that MiniHelen is in a better mood when you pick him up.

DH is okay now. DS1 is predictably dead to the world which is tricky because we’re supposed to be heading out at 9 for a visit to UniversityCityWhichIsJustThatTooFarAwayToLiveAtHome.

Not sure what the rest of the day’s plans are. I suspect at some point I’ll have to plan some activities to do on our slightly changed holiday next week north of the border.

FancyFancy · 17/08/2020 09:59

Hope your trip goes well Letus

FancyCat does that too Helen spooky mind-reader that she is.

Car beeped at me this morning as I veered round a dead deer Sad - it would prefer me to throw the car around like a boy racer it seems

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 17/08/2020 10:45

Lots of hugs Letus

I dreamt of wenches last night, you were visiting me in Sweden and we were sightseeing but there was also some carnival/party going on so we had to shout at each other constantly Hmm

OP posts:
FancyFancy · 17/08/2020 10:57

Glad to hear the rash is improving ww Smile

LetUsPrey · 17/08/2020 16:26

Carnival/party does sound fun though Wicked!

Sad at dead deer Fancy.

Trip out was very good. University was lovely, campus nicely set out. Student who showed us round was great. DS1 seemed to like it, as much as it’s possible to tell with him. Latest announcement is brilliant though that teacher assessed grades are to be used, although for DS1 it probably still means he’ll miss his first choice as they wanted A*AA and his teacher grades were AAA so we still don’t know what’s happening here.

ApricotCrush · 17/08/2020 17:53

Afternoon. We had a thunderstorm this afternoon but it's sunny now.

Flytrap update: We got all excited this morning as it seemed to have a fly, but on closer inspection, it has caught one of its own traps which has turned black. Confused

Good news about the rash and Strike WW. Sounds a nice dream in spite of the shouting. Smile

Sad about deer Fancy.

Glad the trip went well LetUs, hope DS1 can sort something out.

Hope your socially distanced gossip meeting went well Helen.

LetUsPrey · 17/08/2020 20:54

We’ve had unexpected thunder earlier this evening, no lightning, and a fuckton of rain.

Shock at self-cannibalising flytrap! (Is that right - self-cannibalising? Sort of eating itself)

Just to go back to DS1 again (sorry), I genuinely think he would have got the AAA, possibly even with an A* somewhere, so I am even more proud and am happy for him that he’s been given what he deserves.

FancyFancy · 17/08/2020 21:40

Glad to hear the trip went well Letus and good news about the grades.

Roadkill always makes me so sad Sad

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/08/2020 22:47

Evening. We had thunder at lunchtime and rain on and off all day. I think I have slightly sprained my ankle. I went over on it yesterday and walked on it today for SociallyDistacedGossip, and now it's bloody sore Sad Bed time ibuprofen for me tonight....

Confused at the Flytrap - that's just a bit odd. But I've never had a flytrap, so I know nothing really. In good news, I made actual progress with the freelance job and really ought to get it finished tomorrow, inbetween playing taxi for DS...

Anyway, I'm shattered. Hayloft for me.

LetUsPrey · 17/08/2020 22:51

Fancy

Ouch Helen - I suggest you keep your weight off the ankle by lying down and keeping your leg raised, possibly around Athos’s back.

Going through recorded programmes earlier so we could decide what to watch and DH suggested “one of those travel programmes”. He meant a Simon R programme. Couldn’t press play quickly enough Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 18/08/2020 07:59

How thoughtful of DH LetUs Grin And those a most excellent suggestion for keeping the ankle elevated. (It's a bit sore this morning, but not as much as last night.)

DS is yet again in a strop with me, This time because I asked him to wash up his breakfast bowl and not just eave it in the sink. I'm evil, I tell you - evil. [EyesRollingOutOfMyHeadAndDownTheRoad]

Best get dressed really.

LetUsPrey · 18/08/2020 09:21

Morning wenches.

Honestly Helen, I’m going to have to report you to the authorities aka Athos. He will have to take down your particulars and tell you off. He’ll have to really drive the point home

We are off to BigShoppingCentre so I can show DH what to get me for my birthday. I’m also shopping for a strapless bra and shoes.
