Sorry to hear about your DS problem Letus Sad Don't really know what A-levels and GCSE means. Hope it works out for him somehow.

Rash update: Went back to the pharmacy that had its own "clinic" and a nurse looked at my rash, she took photos and phoned a doctor connected to the clinic but the doc didn't want to prescribe anything due to the size of the rash, she thought I should contact my GP so a doc could see me in person. I called the GP and I got an appointment tomorrow. I also have a lovely pic of my back

Toilet at least flushes but cistern lid has to be off as the bit that holds the push button has broken IYSWIM.

Good that you’ve been seen about the rash Wicked and you’ve got another appointment.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/08/2020 07:13

Rumbles of thunder!!!! Splots of Rain!!!! Cat Vom!!! Hmm

We have thunder!!! (About 15 miles away and out of sight.) Still, it's cool outside and there's a sprinkling of rain. And I have to take the g=car for its MOT. Thrillz.

Hope that today is less stressful for LetUs and that Wicked has a useful GP who can de-spot her and that Apricot's washing got dry and that Fancy got more thunder...

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/08/2020 07:14

(Whoo! Thunder is moving closer!)

FancyFancy · 14/08/2020 08:50

Morning
Fingers crossed for a better day Letus
Good luck with the doctor ww

We had a reasonable storm last night - plenty of lightning but less than impressive thunder - I think the storm went over work rather than home. Raining now, which is welcome for the garden.

LetUsPrey · 14/08/2020 09:21

Morning wenches.

Oooo at your thunderstorms Helen! I think we’re done with those for now. Good luck with the MOT.

I could do a rain dance Fancy to keep the rain falling, although I think you’d stand a better chance if I broke into song

Didn’t have a great night’s sleep. Have a few ideas in mind to suggest to DS1, all of which include him not going to not great university.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/08/2020 13:06

Pfft. Thunderstorms didn't last long, rain was minimal. Heat has ramped back up now. FFS and all that.

Have left my car at garage and was given an automatic hybrid courtesy car Shock [horror] I've never driven an automatic, which makes it a bit freaky, and worse, it has all sorts of auto sensors and utter crap that make it beep at me and the steering goes all heavy:
Car: "YOU'RE OUT OF YOUR LANE!!! BEPP!!!BEEP!! BEEP!!!"
Me: "I'm overtaking a parked car" Hmm or "Do you want me to drive through an overgrown hedge?"
Car: "YOU'RE OFF THE ROAD!!! BEEP BEEP BEEP!!!"
Me: "I'm on a high-hedged single track lane - I can't actually get off the road if I tried." or "It's a country road - roads come in different widths you know. Sometimes you have to drive along the very edge to avoid oncoming traffic."
I really don't like it very much, and if it was actually my car, I'd be switching off sensors all over the place.

Back to work - Stupid Cat wants to overheat sit on me.

ApricotCrush · 14/08/2020 18:31

Evening. No more thunderstorms here, just cloudy and a bit humid.

Gosh Helen, that car sounds horrific. I had an automatic once, so I'm alright with them, but I can't stand cars that give you orders. Angry

Hope LetUs is able to sort something out for DS1.

LetUsPrey · 14/08/2020 19:52

That car reminds me of an episode of Peppa Pig where Daddy Pig’s car breaks down and he gets a replacement. It doesn’t talk to him but it’s a super duper one with lots of different buttons that do different things and he gets them all mixed up, tries to put the roof up but sets the radio blaring, gets squirted in the face with screen wash, and other stuff. When DS1 first watched this back in the day he was in absolute fits of laughter. Thought it was the funniest thing ever Grin

I also couldn’t be doing with a car telling me what to do. Hope your proper car is sorted and back with you.

DS1 immediately said this morning that he isn’t going to not great university. Phew! Spoke about another localish one, went online, they’ve closed their clearing applications so he was a bit down about that. Anyway he’s got a clearing place at a really good university but he will need to live away from home. He’s still on the waiting list for the foundation course and is being very proactive Shock with chasing them. Have also reassured him he doesn’t need to accept a place for the sake of it and can take a year off and try to get a job, and then reapply. He might also feel more confident about living away as I can tell part of it is down to anxiety —can’t think where he gets that from—. So, we wait.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/08/2020 20:45

Oh dear - poor DS1 - what a kerfuffle. Hugs all round. (And HBFs for wenches)

LOL at DaddyPig though - that would absolutely be me! I have my car back, thank goodness - MOT all passed fine.. One of the garage bods described my courtesy car as 'a bit preachy' - we decided that it needed a bit of a slap and to give it's head a wobble.

Wicked - how's things?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 14/08/2020 22:50

Shock I was just upstairs shutting down the work computer, and a big hairy house spider ran across the desk.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh

DH came up to help me catch it (I lifted the laptop it was hiding under, DH put the pot over it).

I'm going to the hayloft where there are no spiders of any sort, ever. At all.

LetUsPrey · 14/08/2020 23:07

Hurrah for successful MOT and at car being a bit preachy

Not hurrah at the other thing on the desk

And no, there are no insects or creepy crawlies of any kind at all anywhere in the Tav or it’s surroundings.

DH has been out out and I’ve been to pick him up. He’s had a few drinks and is consequently being super annoying. He’s also bought burger and chips. He’s offered me some chips and I have declined. It would appear I do have some willpower after all - just not when it comes to HBFs Grin

LetUsPrey · 15/08/2020 09:29

Morning wenches.

Another sunny day here. Off to do my exercisething before it gets too warm.

Wicked - how are you doing lovely? Are things improving?

Just noticed the random apostrophe in the “it’s” in my last post. I shall expect a suitable telling off from an HBF when I’m back.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 15/08/2020 10:51

What an irritating car, I would probably have attacked it with a baseball bat Hmm

Saw the GP yesterday, a young, kind of arrogant doctor, but he prescribed Atarax as well so now I'm eating two meds, hope it works.

Had a weird and unpleasant dream last night, hate those.

Really hot here so I plan to do very little, I will try to finish my jigsaw that I've been working on for about a million years.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/08/2020 13:11

Afternoon all.
I had a mega lie-in (after chores etc) and now I'm just slumped on the sofa feeling apathetic.

LetUsPrey · 15/08/2020 13:29

Here’s hoping these meds do the trick Wicked. Oooo a jigsaw! I have another bag of stuff for the charity shop so I might see if they’ve got any more jigsaws in.

Stay slumped Helen. I did the exercisething this morning and am going to do the dishes, and you’ve done your chores, so you slumping will balance out the universe nicely.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/08/2020 16:30

I stopped slumping and did exciting things like cleaning out the kitchen drain (wearing elbow-length rubber gauntlets) The I dug out a load of thistles and also found more bamboo roots to dig up.
HBFs are, after all, attracted to practical and active wenches, and nothing says 'Shag me now' to a HBF more than a wench lying on the ground up to her armpits in drains. Confused (They may want to share a shower with me first...)
Out for a bike ride soon (yet more hot and sweatiness to attract the HBFs) so I'll hold off on the shower for now. DH says he's coming out on his bike too, but he's watching the snooker. Hmm It doesn't look like finishing any time soon.

ApricotCrush · 15/08/2020 17:35

Afternoon. I'm annoyed with myself. It looked a bit heavy out there this morning so I didn't do any washing. It went warm and sunny this afternoon. We're forecast rain and thunder for the next 2 days. Hmm

Grin at Helen's attempts to attract the HBFs. Eeeek at spider.

Hope the rash is improving WW.

It is 9 o'clock on Sunday 30th. They're showing the final episode of A Suitable Boy on Monday 24th.
WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 15/08/2020 17:49

Oh, hope I can watch it somehow.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/08/2020 18:27

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooohhhh.... Do you think they secretly filmed the start of this at the end of the last one, or have continuity had their work cut out for them.

It's trying to drizzle here! (Or it's just a very heavy mist.)

LetUsPrey · 15/08/2020 19:42

They would definitely admire such industrious activity Helen, particularly when there’s a shower afterwards.

at the weather tricking you Apricot.

Ooooo at the Strike trailer! That looks like it’s going to be incredible. Hope you find a way to watch it Wicked.

I’m watching The Man Who Killed Don Quixote which I think Wicked watched the other week. It’s enjoyable so far, especially from an Adam Driver aspect Grin Not really DH’s thing, so I think we’re watching Joker later.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/08/2020 21:39

We're having a Firefly binge. One episode left so it's a late night for DS....

How did you watch it last time Wicked - was it online, or will you have to wait for the DVD to come out?

LetUsPrey · 15/08/2020 22:08

We’re watching Joker. It would be nice if DH would shut the actual fuck up though. Do you think that’s such a person? Do you think he’s going to do this thing? I bet that she does that now. He’s running fast in those shoes - you should get some! Ooo I’ll just update you on the football score even though you’ve said repeatedly that you don’t care. Etc etc etfuckingc. This was all in the space of about ten minutes. Aaarrrggghhh Angry

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 15/08/2020 22:30

Mine was giving me a commentary on what the cast of Firefly are doing now.

We've got snooker on now. I think they hayloft is calling.

LetUsPrey · 16/08/2020 00:07

Why they can’t just stop chatting away and explaining when something’s on? They manage in a cinema.

Joker was excellent.

Hayloft for me also.
