what has happened to the Zappata roll call thread in chat?

1000 replies

marmitemad · 06/09/2007 22:12

I've lost it from my watched threads and can't find it by searching either, am I just being stupid?

OP posts:
fryalot · 28/09/2007 14:58

aww, thank you

Will show them to dp when he gets home, but he did ban me from buying cars off ebay after the Rover (don't ask) and the Escort (you already know all about that one)

But that last one does look great, actually.

There is a buy it now price of £1100 which would be within our budget.

hmm.....

Dropdeadfred · 28/09/2007 15:00

Sorry - I didn't remember you'd had Ebay car horrors.

That last one did look really good though...

Dropdeadfred · 28/09/2007 15:01

and it's MOT'd for a year - surely if it's just passed one there shouldn't be any major probs?

fryalot · 28/09/2007 15:02

I may not have told you I had ebay car horrors, I just meant that you know about the horrors I had with the escort

I really fancy that last one. Do you think dp would ever speak to me again if I just bought it?

fryalot · 28/09/2007 15:03

exactly, it has obviously just passed its mot

and it would fit us all in.
and they will tax it for us if we want.
and I like the bit in the blurb where it says "if you don't have a telly and keep having children, this is the car for you"

Dropdeadfred · 28/09/2007 15:06

Must admit that bit did make me laugh too..they don't sound like rip off merchants...(unless I'm very gullible and it's written for peeps like me..).

Perhaps you could just go round and have a look...then slip the money in their pocket without dp seeing and drive away quickly!!

fryalot · 28/09/2007 15:09

I will defo show dp when he gets home, and I shall use all my feminine wiles to get him to buy it.

so that will be a "no" then

If I give him the choice of three and a half grand, or one grand that my dad wants paying back in several years (he will probably knock it off what he leaves me in his will) I suspect the ebay one may win out.

Will keep you posted.

Feel a bit better about things now anyway

Do you think egg has packed enough clothes?

Dropdeadfred · 28/09/2007 15:11

Her clothes are so tiny that she can fit hundreds in her suitcase...

I know it's not to hold money over someones head, but surely you have a greater say in the car situ if it's your dad lending?

Dropdeadfred · 28/09/2007 15:12

that should have read 'it's not nice...'

fryalot · 28/09/2007 15:13

that's another thing - not at all sure how dp will react to that.

We have never borrowed off anyone before (well, apart from the bank and the credit card companies ) so really not sure if he will be happy to borrow off my dad. I'm fairly sure I can persuade him that it is a good idea - no interest payable for one!

fryalot · 28/09/2007 15:14

anyway, thank you for being practical, and cheering me up.

I have to go and wake up ds now to go and pick up dd2
Will let you know how dp reacts

Dropdeadfred · 28/09/2007 15:18

Best of luck Squonk - at the end of th day you need a car and if money isn't available elsewhere taking up a no-strings kind family offer is a sensible choice methinks.

xx

Egg · 28/09/2007 15:19

Bloody hell what a nightmare. Sorry Squonk that this has happened. What is the situation with your car? I don't remember the Escort story...

V nice of your dad to offer money. Even if it is not enough it is still a long way towards being enough. Wish I could do something to help .

Lost DS's raincoat (yes, another one). Can't find it anywhere. Small problem compared to loss of car.

Dropdeadfred · 28/09/2007 15:20

Egg - what is it with you and raincoats?

Where did you lose it?

Egg · 28/09/2007 15:21

I can imagine my DH being the same, esp not wanting to take money from my family, as he would feel like a failure or something (silly male pride). I would take money from anyone offering. Family is a bit different to borrowing from a friend, or the bank etc.

Egg · 28/09/2007 15:22

Don't remember losing it... just can't find it now and want to pack it for hols . It could be in DS's room, but he is asleep, but normally I would hang it downstairs. Once I have searched upstairs I will call nursery maybe I left it there.

DS is now awake...

Dropdeadfred · 28/09/2007 15:25

Egg - I agree about the money. Pride is a good and honourable thing, but pretty pointless when your chips are down and there's no other options...

Squonk I'd be tempted to say that the loan is to you personally if it helps ..?

Egg - you are a pregnant scatter-brain!!

Egg · 28/09/2007 15:29

Oh shit, forgot to tell you that, thanks to my pregnancy brain, I shoplifted this morning! I was getting some cheapo slippers in Next to avoid stepping on spiders round the house, and then went and got a two-pack of lovely long sleeved tops for DS as well. He wanted to carry the tops and I had the slippers hanging from the Zapp handle. When we went to pay, I got the tops from DS, paid, left, wandered up the High Street into Monsoon to look at a coat that might fit over my belly all winter (then saw price tag and made my excuses), and then noticed slippers still hanging on pushchair. They were only £6 but I raced back down there to confess, I would never have been able to wear them otherwise .

Squonk, I think Fred is onto something, can you tell DP it is a gift / loan to you, because he wants to do something nice for his daughter? Then nip off and buy that ebay car...

Dropdeadfred · 28/09/2007 15:37

Egg you really are a hard nosed criminal scatter brained pregnant woman!!

fryalot · 28/09/2007 15:42

Dd1 used to keep me honest when I was pg with dd2 and ds.... I would be just about to walk out of the shop and there would be a very loud voice saying "mum... you ARE going to PAY for those, AREN'T YOU" Of course I was!

Good idea about the loan. I will tell dp that dad has offered to lend me the money. Tis likely to be a bit of a sore subject, because there is nobody in dp's family who could/would lend us money (not that I would want them to) his parents are both dead and wouldn't have had any spare funds knocking about anyway.

Egg - raincoat may be in car?

Fred: again, thank you

Dropdeadfred · 28/09/2007 15:45

Squonk - No need for thanks - always a pleasure..anyway I didn't do anything 'cept surf the net which is life's work!

fryalot · 28/09/2007 16:04

well, hurdle number one over with.

Just rang dp to ask about my dad's offer and he answered the phone with "what do you want, I'm really busy" so I told him, and he said "yeah, whatever, we don't have much choice"

so that's phase one of operation get a new car

egg: found it yet?

Dropdeadfred · 28/09/2007 16:09

Yay Squonk...sounds promising...now just to get over the Ebay hurdle...

Egg have you got lost searching for that coat or have you gone to steal buy another one?

Egg · 28/09/2007 19:09

Quickie as going to be logging off soon and just getting DS ready for bed...

Squonk glad you have the go ahead for new car (more or less....)! Good luck with it .

Phoned nursery, they said they had raincoat. It was pissing down. Got DS in coat and wellies strapped into pushchair and then they phoned to say actually it was someone elses... DS sobbing as we didn't go out after all.

Found raincoat hidden inside DH's raincoat.

Gah.

Probably wont be online again but maybe briefly tomorrow morning. Text me with any interesting news pleeeeeease.

Bye Bye

fryalot · 28/09/2007 19:35
