So as of Saturday I shall be attempting to acheive the following, I may be biting off more than I can chew initially but I am determined to get there. My aim, to lose a bit of weight, have a more organised home and happier DP.

  1. No nibling at DCs tea/leftovers
  2. No eating snacks & treats I have brought/made for DCs
  3. Walk up to my office on the second floor every day
  4. Takeaways once a fortnight at most
  5. Participate as fully as possible in Flylady activities
  6. Lounge floor to be cleared of DD3s toys before I go to bed
  7. Bottom of stairs (where clutter accumulates) to be cleared at least once a week
  8. No MNetting between 3 and DTDs bedtime (I know don't laugh)
  9. No MNettinng after 11pm when I have to get up in the morning

So anyone else want to pledge to make changes in theier life or am I going to be talking to myself?

I've given it some thought.

Today I joined Weightwatchers (scary, but bit the bullet) so,

  1. Lose 1.5 stone by sticking to the points and portion sizes.
  2. keep up my 'jobs list', tackling one job or 'hot spot' per day.
  3. Play with my children. Not just set it up for them to get on with, or point them in the right direction.
  4. Invest in my relationships with RL friends. Make them lunch, have their kids to play, etc.
  5. Ditto DP.
  6. Not scream at my children when they are horrid because they are exhausted and revolting.
bananaknickers · 05/09/2007 18:23

Gawd IO started this Yesterday without seeing the thread, think it's children all going back to school and having a new start. My list is as follows if I am allowed to join ladies

  1. Make more of an effort to keep in touch with friends
  2. eat less junk and more veg
  3. keep on top of my washing piles ( can't see that lasting)
  4. Flylady more
  5. keep ontop of my childrens homework and make an effort to do their spellings ( dispite the moans
  6. no wine during the week
  7. drink more water
  8. make more of an effort with my apperance
  9. Ebay for England
  10. carry on with trying to get out of debt

Blimmy my list is huge

SlightlyMadSCAREYthing · 05/09/2007 21:47

Sounds like we are all doinbg OK, and acheiving something off these lists. I am finding writting it all down is helping.

I think I can check all the things on my list.

Reduction in MNetting is really making a difference to me. I can never give it up but I am being quite strict with myself and forcing myself not to come on, which means I have more time to do the houseworky things, which is making me happy as I have something to show for my time, and bustling about doing houseworky things means I am probably helping my excercise instead of sitting on my arse at the computer.

It is that MN is the key (it is my Soap Opera and beats Corrie hands down ), but I probably havn't missed anything by reducing from up to 4-5hrs per day to just an hour or two...

keep it up ladies

daisyandbabybootoo · 06/09/2007 07:21

LOL Foxy...your list is so much more succinct than mine, can I adopt it?

Didn't do so well yesterday. I MNetted far more than I should have done and ate 3 magnums plus DS and I had a nasty altercation just before bed.

....which made me feel crap as he's only exhausted from the adjust back to school and is in year 1 which means he's a big grown up boy now.

Must do better today.

Today's task is to sort out the mountain of laundry that has built up again and get paperwork in order so i can send off the kids passport applications or we won't be going anywhere in October)

northstar · 06/09/2007 09:13

Well done girls, sounds like we're getting somewhere. Thank god for the failures too, makes me feel human.
I have done a one hour walk every day this week.
I have kept the floor toy-free, but that's only because the dc are playing outside or in school so can't really take much credit for that.
Didn't have any wine last night, I was too tired after work.
Obviously I'm still on mn though.
I have looked at the huge pile of too small clothes every day this week - I am going to sort it out to ebay and for the charity shop.
I have had no chocolate or sweets all week.

foxybrown · 06/09/2007 12:18

I am about to take the covers of the sofa, wash them and then repair them.

I just wanted to share ...

... especially as they still have the vom splashes on from when DS2 was sick when I was in labour - 8 weeks ago

Emzy5 · 06/09/2007 13:07

northstar, i just sorted out three bags of clothes for charity and one for the bin. feels good!

Emzy5 · 06/09/2007 13:10

bumperlicious, is it buggyfit in highgate woods by any 1 in a million chance?

Lovecat · 06/09/2007 14:46

Update on my struggle!

  1. No takeaways - erm...
  2. Eat a proper low-carb breakfast check
  3. No snacks/junk check
  4. Make time to go to the gym um...
  5. Clear up the l/room floor in the half hour between dd's tea and OH coming home 3 days out of 5
  6. No dumping stuff at the bottom of the stairs in the vain hope that someone else will take it up and put it away shoes have now gone upstairs
  7. No computer after 10.30pm check
  8. Drink water instead of fizz um...

So it's an improvement, at least! Have to resist the lure of the chippy on a rehearsal night, get organised with the slow cooker and have something ready so I'm not tempted to pig out at 10pm! No Mn-ing has been successful only because I've had a rehearsal every night this week and have fallen into bed at 10.30pm exhausted!

Must keep repeating 'water tastes nicer than pepsi' and thinking about the damage it's doing to my enamel... have to convince myself somehow!

WELL DONE TO EVERYONE!

SlightlyMadSCAREYthing · 06/09/2007 20:02

Well done everyone that has reported in - you have all achevied something on your list.

I am still doing OK.

Wavered a little with the nibbling today. And although it is not actuially on my list I ate 2 jam doughnuts and a cookie in a meeting today - I should have known better .

On the Flylady front I have leared my hall. Got rid of a pile of winter coats that DTDs had 2 years ago, washing all the other winter coats from last year that should still fit. GOt rid of and relocated various other shoes and coats etc. So feeling like I am getting somewhere./

foxybrown · 06/09/2007 21:31

Well done SMST! the hallway is a challenge here too.

am off to put it on my to do list now.

SlightlyMadSCAREYthing · 06/09/2007 21:37

It was on my list before I started FLYing actually, but I was shocked what I found...

Last years winter coats were disgusting - you just kind of gradually stop wearing them donn't you?
I found £3 in a pocket, along with numerous receipts and used tissues/baby wipes.
I found a sun hat that we brought DD3 last year for holiday. She was only 3m so didn't really need it ans it was tiny. I had forgotten we had it.

On another point - I have had a discusion with DP, talking about how I am making an effort to keep clutter free now I have de-cluttered, so he has started taking the recycling out daily and stuff. Shh don't tell him he is FLYing though

SlightlyMadSCAREYthing · 06/09/2007 21:37

Ooops I thought I was on the FLYlady thread.....

Emzy5 - will do it today.
Foxybrown - what are you DOING on here if you were only in labour 8 weeks ago - GET OFF put your feet up and come back in a year or so!

foxybrown · 07/09/2007 11:39

LOL Northstar! She's DC4 so its upwards and onwards for me!

I have put away my washing 'hotspot' and have nearly fixed my sofa cover and have sorted DD1's clothes out. Am feeling very virtuous!

daisyandbabybootoo · 07/09/2007 20:17

I shined my sink today .

Wrong thread I know, but I'm feeling very pleased with it.

Sadly i didn;t exercise, but have been good on the eating front and DS and i have had fun throwing boomerangs in the park.

My housework hotsopts, as foxy coined them, are still very hot! Will do something about it tomorrow...after DDs first swimming pool visit!

SlightlyMadSCAREYthing · 07/09/2007 20:35

The hotspots are a Flying thing actually....I have done about 4 hotspots today [preen].

Have had a very good day getting hte housework organised...

washed up
Cillit-baged my sink
cleaned my conservatory doors (patio)
Cleaned all downstairs frames and grubby bits around habdles
Cleared conservatory floor of junk and swept
3 loads of washing in machine
put away last 3 loads of washing
put away DTDs swimming kit from yesterday (normally sits on airer for a week)

Been good with my food intake
Been good with my walking
Am doinf my pelvic floors as we speak
Shame my MNetiing hasn't been so great....

SlightlyMadSCAREYthing · 07/09/2007 20:36

Oh and I still need to clean lounge floor as it is a tip....just need to get motivated.

On hte plus side - no work tomorrow so I can MN until my hearts content

daisyandbabybootoo · 07/09/2007 21:16

Bloody Hell SMS...how did you manage to fit all theat in. I spent about Four hours BFing my DD today so time definately limited here...and it gives me an excuse to MN at the same time

DH has just got home and he's handed me some Fly lady filofax pages that he got off DIYPlanner.com. I now have full shine your sink instructions.....Bless his dear heart!

D'you think he's trying to tell me something?

SlightlyMadSCAREYthing · 07/09/2007 21:26

It wasn't that bad. I spent about and hour this afternoon doing some bits and then about 30 mins after tea/while tea was cooking. The other bits I have done 2 min here and 2 min there. Sorting the door frames literally took 5 mins (I didn't do the whole freame just the grubby area around child height and lightswitch height .

If there is one thing that I have learnt from my 14 days of being a FLYbaby it is that you can get so much done in a week if you do 2 mins here and 2mins there. You don't have to wait until you have a 30min+ timegap.

P.S. I'm not surprised you getting much dione bf a baby....that is harder than anything else on this thread in terms of time comitment IMO...

foxybrown · 08/09/2007 09:39

Wow SMST! I am very, very impressed by your achievements! Well done. Am also feeling quite motivated by it, so thanks!

Daisy, I think I might bf until lo is 12, just for the excuse to sit on my arse and MN!

But on that note I am going to walk to the gym now, and put LO in the creche hopefully.

daisyandbabybootoo · 08/09/2007 12:05

PMSL Foxy

SlightlyMadSCAREYthing · 08/09/2007 15:20

It sounds like a lot, but I am literally doing 5 mins here and 5 mins there. I am not spenidng all day cleaning. Trust me. It takes a bit more effort to start the decluttering, but I am now just trying to keep on top of the clutter "hotspots" through the day so I don't have to sit down and sort through 3months worth of clutter ever again...

You are all doing great too....we seem to have lost some from the start of the thread though .

foxybrown · 08/09/2007 18:31

I have lost any energy I had, and have achieved nowt today! But I am going to do myself a big long list tonight, in my big long list book, and will tick some off tomorrow I hope!

I did go to the gym though, but that doesn't tidy the house does it?
