So as of Saturday I shall be attempting to acheive the following, I may be biting off more than I can chew initially but I am determined to get there. My aim, to lose a bit of weight, have a more organised home and happier DP.

  1. No nibling at DCs tea/leftovers
  2. No eating snacks & treats I have brought/made for DCs
  3. Walk up to my office on the second floor every day
  4. Takeaways once a fortnight at most
  5. Participate as fully as possible in Flylady activities
  6. Lounge floor to be cleared of DD3s toys before I go to bed
  7. Bottom of stairs (where clutter accumulates) to be cleared at least once a week
  8. No MNetting between 3 and DTDs bedtime (I know don't laugh)
  9. No MNettinng after 11pm when I have to get up in the morning

So anyone else want to pledge to make changes in theier life or am I going to be talking to myself?

omg just started looking at the flylady thing.

What with that and the organised mum diary I am feeling very very far away from effective

CountessDracula · 29/08/2007 13:33

Lovecat why would you want a low carb breakfast??

Countingthegreyhairs · 29/08/2007 14:14

Please may I join?

Want to:

  1. lose 10 kg
  2. regain control over house - flying
  3. exercise three times a week
  4. study French six times a week
  5. do something creative once a week
  6. plan meals better
  7. go to bed earlier at night

have been trying to make progress with this sort of stuff for years but manage to do it for so long and then succumb to old habits.

Determined this time though ... anyone got any tips?

Lovecat · 29/08/2007 14:15

Because it fills me up, CD! If I have toast and cereal I'm starving by 10am... but it takes an effort to scramble eggs and grill bacon (well, I tend to think it does anyway, it probably doesn't, but I need to get out of that mindset!). Hence need for kick in arse.

Low-carbing is the only way I've ever lost weight and kept it off. Went from a size 16 to a size 10 over 2.5 years, was incredibly healthy (according to all the tests I had before and during my ICSI treatment) and never hungry. All went to pot when I got pregnant, however, as I wanted to take no risks whatsoever with miracle pregnancy and started eating spuds again. Hello IBS and now I'm a size 18... something's got to give!

janeitebus · 29/08/2007 15:02

Can I join please?

I would like to:

  • lose half a stone
  • help dd2 to keep her room tidy so that we don't have monthly spats of me screaming at her, her crying and then taking hours to sort out all the crap (which is the cycle we have just repated again; room is looking lovely now though!)
  • meal plan much more effectively - I don't want to get back from work anymore, so tired that I can barely think and then end up calling for pizza instead)
  • eat more fruit and vege - am ok with vege but v bad with fruit as I don't like many types
  • drink more water
  • do more quality things as a family - eg bike rides, days out at weekends
CountessDracula · 29/08/2007 15:09

how odd
I find oats fill me up!

northstar · 29/08/2007 15:17

Oh this is for me!
My name is Northstar and I am an overweight, unorganised, unfit person that I don't recognise! I have started wearing dp's t-shirts

squatchette · 29/08/2007 15:22

Can i join too please?
I want to..
Eat more fruit less junk
Drink more water
Use Dp's multi gym a few times a week
Enrol on college course
Get back on track with the Flylady
Cut down on the ciggies eventualy give up.
Start decorating the hallway and girls new bedroom.
SO in a nutshell get more healthy and organised.Have just started the Paul Mckenna change your life in seven days, suspect it make take me a little longer than that though with this list!

Lovecat · 29/08/2007 15:41

@ CD - nope, oats bloat me out and give me IBS - believe me, I've tried pretty much everything and low-carbing is what works for me - but hey, everyone's different!

northstar · 29/08/2007 15:50

I am planning to start on Monday though. I am going to drop dc to school and then walk as fast as I can for an hour. Then I will log in here while I eat my ryvita and have a cup of tea. What happens after that is a bit vague though.
What do you all have planned?

daisyandbabybootoo · 29/08/2007 15:52

ooooh, me too please

I plan to:

  1. Repair my fragile realtionship with my five year old DS
  2. stop eating sugary sweets and eat more fruit and veg; its setting a bad example to my DS
  3. get down to optimim BMI....around 2.5 stone to lose!
  4. stop drinking red wine through the week.
  5. Only MN for an hour over lunch and after DCs are in bed (that's a popular one isn't it...it's going to be mightily quiet here in the afternoon!)
  6. Get out for a walk with the pram at least once a day and do buggyfit once a week.

That'll do for starters...there's so much else i could add!

fartmeistergeneral · 29/08/2007 15:56

Am wondering if there's any point in making a list. I make the same list in my head every Sunday to start on the Monday and by lunchtime I've rebelled so much I have to wait til the Sunday to promise myself all over again.

My bugbear is meal plans. They work. They save you money. They mean good, healthy meals. Why can't I do them??? They prey on my mind.

OK

Go to gym twice a week in addition to one swim I'm already doing
Make a meal plan every week (HA!)
Spend more quality time with kids (HA!!)
Make more of an effort to keep house remotely tidy

sigh

fartmeistergeneral · 29/08/2007 15:57

Northstar - I love the sound of your day!!! Drop kids at school, home, ryvita, cuppa tea, Mumsnet. Then vagueness!!!! I remember those days - pre work!!! I loved it.

fartmeistergeneral · 29/08/2007 16:07

hi dg...

i need to plan meals as well as we waste far too much here. our compost bin is very well fed with rotting fruit and veg. if we ate everything i bought we could switch to organic everything and still save money.

I'll add that to my list

plan meals to avoid food waste.

toomanyballs · 29/08/2007 17:54

oh no now you've started planning meals you do know how to make a girl feel inadequate. Haven't even mananged my list yet!

Halloween early?

Lovecat · 30/08/2007 08:55

Soup! Drizzle your pumpkin with oil and roast it, then either eat it in chunks like butternut squash and/or (depending on size) whizz the roasted chunks up in a blender with cream/milk, nutmeg and possibly a potato (? can't remember, will look for the recipe - it's lush!) et voila - soup. V. jealous of you having a pumpkin at this time of year - they never have them round our way til the last week in October...

And I need to add something to my list - drink more water (and less fizzy shite!)

Well, this morning we have had scrambled eggs and bacon, the living room floor is spotless, my dishwasher is emptied and my sink is shiny... just about to go food shopping and attempt to stick to a list - hah!

mcnoodle · 30/08/2007 09:13

Ok I wanna play too.

I need to:

  1. Cut out alcohol during the week
  2. Exercise for 30 mins 3 x week to regain stomach muscles
  3. Organise nursery stuff the night before
  4. Stop MNing at work - this is a must - I'm procrastinating big time
  5. Have more sex

In the spirit of number 4 am gonna go prepare for meeting in an hour and check in (briefly) over lunch.

I feel virtuous just writing it down!

daisyandbabybootoo · 30/08/2007 09:56

DG cut it into chunks, roast it, then make a rissoto base, add the pumpkin, some thyme and gorgonzola instead of parmesan...deeelicious!!

Charlee · 30/08/2007 10:03

Ohhhh i will join in, i have just recived my organised mum life book so i am feeling well up for a lifestyle change!

my aims are.

  1. To stop snacking on mountains of crap
  2. To eat smaller portions.
  3. To tidy at least 1 room in my house each day.
  4. To bath the kids more than 3 times a week

I will probably think of more.

Charlee scuttles off to find todays flylady thread.

Charlee · 30/08/2007 10:04
