Emergency new thread, with suitable decorations.
Fill your boots...

Grubby HBFs in leather are in our imaginations residence.
Sense of humour required, and tolerance for domestic tedium.

at bread riots

Shoulder is much improved thank you but it may be as well for Doctor Aramis to take a very close look at me, and obviously carry out a hands on examination

Fingers crossed for roof being fixed soon.

Fancy must be being very cultural this week. I bet she’s simply exhausted Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/11/2019 23:06

Dr Aramis says you'll need to strip off for a thorough examination. He's just getting a nice cold compress ready for you....

I'll be in the hayloft with Athos...

Morning wenches.

Doctor Aramis applied various lotions and had to press quite firmly in some areas

In real life, it’s rainy and dark and DS1 seems to determined to miss his bus. He makes a sloth look like a cheetah.

I’m not looking under that cloak. I’ve fallen for that before.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/11/2019 08:26

Urgh. I'm with DS1 LetUs - up and would very much like not to be. Did get DS onto the bus at this end though. We're going to need a torch in the morning soon.

I also keep going to bed far too late, which really doesn't help. Dr Athos needs to stage an intervention and get me into bed all day at a reasonable time.

Watched Dark Materials last night - it's a really good adaptation. and a Father Ted Grin

Am currently waiting for roofer no.2 to turn up at 9am, so no point in going back to bed.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/11/2019 08:36

I think I missed some words from my first sentence. Still. You get the idea. Also FML at fail strikethrough. I should probably go back to bed once the roofer's been.

ApricotCrush · 28/11/2019 18:00

Afternoon. Still raining. Hmm

We know what you mean Helen. Thank you for the wake-up compilation. Smile We watched ep 1 of His Dark Materials last night too. I didn't think we'd like it, but we did. Will watch ep 2 tonight.

I bought Christmas cards this morning together with some chocolates and posh biscuits, so feel I've made a start.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/11/2019 18:51

Today's roofer was not overly impressive. Didn't actually get on a ladder to look at the are in question, and suggested that we should re-roof the whole lot. Hmm It might be a good idea, but since he couldn't be bothered to shift any tiles to check for issues, I'm not overly keen to take his word for the roof. Will wait for the quotes to come in anyway.

Rainy rainy rain here. Still. Tomorrow I shall get a black Friday spa deal though, so that will be nice Smile

Evening wenches.

I started reading the first His Dark Materials book last night.

FFS at not even going up on the roof. Oooo at Black Friday deal! Perhaps they’ll throw in an HBF too.

Perhaps we could make a pact to start writing cards tomorrow or at the weekend Apricot.

Work was a load of utter bobbins today. No matter, it’s Friday tomorrow!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/11/2019 21:15

I do like that expression utter bobbins - though it seems a bit harsh on actual bobbins.

I also have several packs of cards sitting in front of me, that I've done nothing with other than buy - to give me the feeling that I've achieved something and then stalled

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 28/11/2019 22:36

I think it’s definitely an achievement to have bought cards before December.

I should be having an early night so I shall head to the hayloft where I intend to achieve lots with HBFs.

LetUsPrey · 29/11/2019 07:40

Morning wenches.

Not raining but very frosty again. Wasn’t expecting that —although I probably would if I’d checked the weather for this week—

Had many achievements in the hayloft last night.

DS1 submitted his university application thing last night. Just needs to get his arse in gear and do the actual work.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/11/2019 08:13

Morning. Damp and chilly here but no frost. I have been mooching on Black Friday deals but found nothing worth getting for DS, but I have nabbed my half price spa session. Or at least, I'm trying to but I'm getting a spinning circle of doom and the connection just timed out. Arse... Hope this doesn't turn into another Killers damp squib...

In other news, my back is sore. I am blaming the bike thing. Grin

Morning

I've not been very cultural for the last couple of days - did some clearing out and went shopping yesterday - got a few more Christmas presents & already have my cards not written a single one Lots of chores today plus dental hygienist. Fun times.

Yikes at supermarket scuffle Shock

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 29/11/2019 12:07

Morning. Try to contain your excitement, but I have been grown-up and responsible and done my tax return. I also got the spa offer - hurrah!

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 29/11/2019 18:02

Afternoon. Very frosty here this morning but a nice sunny day for a change.

Oh Fancy I went to see the dental hygienist too. Had the usual lesson in how to brush my teeth. Hmm

Yikes at university application LetUs, they grow up so quickly.

Yay for spa offer Helen. Hope your back improves quickly.

I've started wrapping the Thomas Train stuff and am currently drowning in bubble wrap, sellotape and boxes. The auctions aren't up until Sunday, but if I leave it until then I'll be in a panic.

We went to sleep watching Dark Materials, don't know what that says about it. Hmm

FancyFancy · 29/11/2019 18:39

Evening.

Always amuses me how 'do you still use a manual toothbrush' is asked every time in a slightly disappointed tone. Despite my teeth and gums being in a pretty good state apparently Hmm

I am impressed helen - I think you deserve a reward. As do letus & miniLetus - must be a relief to get that done.

Evening wenches.

Hurrah for getting the spa offer Helen!

Apricot please tell me that you took the opportunity to roll about on some of the bubble wrap. Just a little bit Grin

Just popping out to take DH and DS1 out. We are calling for ice creams on the way back. I shall be very willing to share that with my reward. I shan’t be needing a spoon.

My dentist has retired. My annual check-up has been bounced for 6 months in the hopes that they'll have a new NHS dentist by then. Hmm I'm not holding out too much hope because if the bloody current government have they way there will be no such thing by then anyway.

Whatevs, I had been on the stepper which feels like it has loosened up my back considerably. This may be followed by it seizing up completely of course Confused This morning I fell sideways into a door while trying to put a sock on, due to lack of balance and sore back. I should probably engage my brain and sit down for that sort of thing because I'm clearly too old for this sort of activity. Or get a HBf to roll my sock up for me. Then his hands can carry on upwards... (I posted that poldark gif recently didn't I? ) The BBC have helpfully youtubed that scene for our entertainment at , but there's nearly two minutes of wittering before they skip to the good bits Grin

LetUsPrey · 29/11/2019 21:03

Helen it’s clearly a sign that you should just stay lying down for as long as possible. It’s the only way.

Ice cream was delicious and even better when served —on— with Aramis.

Watching a Death in Paradise from the other night and then it’ll be hayloft time.

I am off to the hayloft as well.

Night all.

'tis a cold and frosty morning. The dew drops are frozen to the washing line and the grass crunches underfoot. The ground is still wet and mushy though...

Today we have SportingActivity and ReturningOnlineShopping - I bought a rather nice dress, and it didn't fit Sad Though that did free up money for shoes Grin

Have a good day all.

Morning wenches. I was in bed shortly after 10 last night. Rocknroll Friday nights.

Very poetic Helen. I haven’t opened the curtains yet. Urgh at unsuccessful online shopping.

I ^might* make a start on cards today I won’t and finalise the present lists a bit more. Or I could stay in bed with HBFs.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 30/11/2019 10:58

Duh! Well, bed with HBFs, obviously.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 30/11/2019 11:30

Obviously Grin

Very frosty. DS2 is being a bit of a ratbag. DS1 doesn’t feel well and is still in bed, not even on his phone.

I think I’ll need extra HBFs.
