And wenches can use their imaginations to make the temperature rise and anything else they can think of.

Evening. We've had DGS today so my brain is a litle fried.

We're not going until Thursday because golf. DD & Co. are coming for the weekend, but the weather isn't looking too good. We shall go anyway and put up with the manshapes moaning that we should have gone last weekend. Hmm

Love the fact that WW appears at the mention of cake. Grin

ApricotCrush · 02/09/2019 18:27

What is it with schools? DGS's term starts today, but it's an inset day, so he doesn't go until tomorrow. Confused

Mmm, cake Smile

LetUsPrey · 02/09/2019 19:55

Evening wenches.

That was excellent excellent advice Helen.

That does seem a bit silly Fancy.

Direct them to their new positions with the British Meteorological Society Apricot if they all start being weather experts.

Grin Wicked Cake

DS2 is back tomorrow but mid-morning so I’ve had to book the morning off.

And I’ve had enough of people at work who can’t do the fucking job they’re paid for.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/09/2019 21:01

DS isn't back until Wednesday - it's horribly confusing. Maybe we have an inset day or something Confused And I have to sign up to Parent view Confused Very much FFS at miniFancy's school though, and the half day chez miniLetUs. could they perhaps just make their bloody minds up as to whether they want the DCs in school or not?

In other news, I have worked hard (ish) all day, and I did get the washing on - and hang it out. And I have been sewing/writing names in DS' school stuff. though not his shoes Hmm wonder if there is anywhere I can write in them.

Should Vinnie just move to your work LetUs? And I do like the idea of sending apricot's manshapes off to join the met office if they insist on being experts on the weather (after the event).

LetUsPrey · 02/09/2019 22:39

The Y7 go in for the normal start time and then the other years go in later, so the Y7s get chance to settle in. It’s a nice idea —but a bit of a PITA—

DS2 has had the sense not to grow out of any uniform including shoes. I expect to be shopping by half term though.

DS1 is back on Wednesday. He’s in for a shock when he has to get up for college Grin

I reckon even Vinnie would struggle with the dickheads where I work. Let’s have HBFs at work instead to distract us from the fuckwittery.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/09/2019 22:41

HBFs at work would be marvellous but we'd never get any work done.

Hayloft for me.

LetUsPrey · 02/09/2019 22:47

we’d never get any work done - and then we’d be just like everyone else Grin

Saw a trailer with your man, Callum Turner, in it Fancy for a new BBC thing. The Capture I think. Holliday Grainger’s in it too.

Hayloft for me too.

LetUsPrey · 03/09/2019 08:02

Morning wenches.

Not had a great night’s sleep and one of my eyes is really bloodshot. I would, as the saying goes, frighten a police horse.

At least I’ve had a bit of a lie in. I’m planning to get the ironing done before I go to work. This will mean I’ll sit and watch tv until it’s time to go.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/09/2019 09:28

Morning. Suggest you get yourself an eyepatch LetUs until Dr Aramis can give you a thorough examination. After all, the eye might be a symptom of something else, so you'll need a complete body check. Grin

I got out DS' new school shoes yesterday, which I bought ages ago, and I don't know what I was thinking but I seem to have bought him trainer style shoes Shock which I suspect will not go down well with the powers that be at school. We're off for emergency shoe-shopping just now.

Eeeek at emergency school shoe shopping!

I’m off for a ride

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/09/2019 12:13

Shoe shopping was successful, thank goodness. DS has been wearing 4.5 shoes and reckons he can wear them a bit longer. He's been measured as a 6-6.5 Shock The suspiciously-like-trainers shoes I got in the 'next size up' (when I got his last shoes) are too small without him ever wearing them. Confused.

Now we need to go out for a last meet-up of the summer hols, so the DCs can run feral in the woods while parents collapse in traumatised heaps.

Hope your riding session was invigorating LetUs Grin

ApricotCrush · 03/09/2019 18:28

Evening.

While we're on about schools, I don't understand the system with the classes. DGS seems to be in Year 4, but also Base 10 and I think there's KS something as well. Confused There's also a three-tier school system now round here (primary, middle and high), which our DC were never in, just to add to the confusion.

I saw the trailer for The Capture and thought 'that's thingy from War and Peace' that Fancy liked. Think we'll give it a try.

Glad the shoe shopping was successful Helen and hope LetUs's eye sorts itself out.

More Cake for WW.

LetUsPrey · 03/09/2019 21:05

Evening wenches.

That’s a bugger about the suspiciously like trainers shoes Helen.

Riding session was indeed most invigorating. Quite bouncy in parts and occasional use of the whip.

I can answer your KS question Apricot but I’ve no idea as to the rest. KS1 is Y1 and 2, KS2 is Y3-6, KS3 is 7-9, and KS4 is 10-11. It’s taken me this long to get used to the numbers for the high school years. Hope DGS enjoys Y4.

I’ll have to download The Capture. We’ve got other stuff recording.

Eye seems better —until next time—

DS2 had a good day - actually volunteered information about what he’d done in lessons.

FancyFancy · 03/09/2019 22:42

Evening. Have bad toothache, so am off to the dentist tomorrow, fingers crossed they can do something to help until I can get a proper appointment to sort the issue out

I saw that trailer too wenches, may give it a go - have an awful lot of cycling to get through in the next few weeks though. And Poldark to finish

Glad returns to school seem to have gone ok so far & good luck to all going back tomorrow. DD's 'enrolment day' required her to be in for all of 15 minutes She nearly gave me a heart attack sneaking up on me in the supermarket - I'd expected to be hanging around waiting for her in the carpark!

LetUsPrey · 03/09/2019 22:59

Oh Fancy, poor you with the toothache Sad. Hope you get some relief tomorrow.

We still have two episodes of Poldark to go.

Hmm at the 15 minutes

I have a headache and indigestion so I’m off to the hayloft.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 03/09/2019 23:01

Evening. All flailing here over back to school preps.I'm reading www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/3683061-10pm-the-night-before-back-to-school-am-I-the-only-one to make myself feel less disorganised! I think we're pretty much there. though DS thinks he only needs 45 minutes to get out the door and on the bus. Hmm On current form he needs a lot more than that, but ok...

Ow fancy Sad have some painkillers - Wine And I'm sure Poldark is looking forward to you finishing him off.

I have no idea about bases apricot (other that letting the HBFs to get to whichever 'base' they want Grin ) Primary/Middle/High - they were in the middle of switching to that format when I went through the system. From what I recall, I left primary school two years early- so at the end of year 4. Went to Middle school for 3 years (I think?), then went to high school but went in at what is now Year 8 (whereas the local primaries who were still primaries went in at Year 7). It's bloody confusing because we have both systems here, depending on which school you start at!

Glad DS2 got on ok LetUs. Was Aramis suitably impressed with your handling skills, re. the whip? Grin

I have just got Cake out of the over ready for tomorrow's lunches... Banana and Apricot and I recorded the Capture. I imagine we'll watch it next year Hmm

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/09/2019 07:53

DS is out the door and on the bus

Now I'll got to BoringOfficeJob to recover... Oh LetUs - I do wish your idea of HBFs at work was real...

LetUsPrey · 04/09/2019 07:55

Morning wenches.

Gosh DS2’s loving getting up early for school!

Saw that thread Helen Grin. Hopefully MiniHelen is up and in the process of getting ready.

Aramis was impressed with all my handling skills

DS1 is on a later start today. Unfortunately his new bus pass hasn’t arrived yet so he’ll be full fare I think until it does.

Ah well, best crack on.

All the luck with your tooth today Fancy.

FancyFancy · 04/09/2019 08:24

Thanks wenches. DD started back today - first day in sixth form Shock my baby!

ApricotCrush · 04/09/2019 16:10

Afternoon wenches.

Thank you for the school explanations, I'm still just as confused. Why can't it be the same everywhere? First day in the sixth form - now that I understand. Hope MiniFancy and all other Minis had a good day.

Ouch at toothache Fancy. Hope you got it sorted.

I read that thread Helen and found it exhausting.

The Capture is brilliant. A bit slow to start we both went to sleep and had to rewind but when it gets going it's really good. We're hooked.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 04/09/2019 16:11

Afternoon. DS has survived day 1 - phew! I have mostly survived, through work was just a chaotic mess of computers not working properly and meetings I wasn't remotely prepared for Sad

Hows the tooth Fancy?

LetUsPrey · 04/09/2019 20:21

Evening wenches.

How’s the tooth Fancy? Any better?

Good to know that you enjoyed The Capture Apricot. I’ll download it now before I forget. Just as well things are on iPlayer now for a lot longer.

Hurrah for good first day for MiniHelen! Hope MiniFancy enjoyed her first day too.

DS1’s first day of Y13 was “alright”. He’s on the early bus tomorrow for a 9am start. He’s in for a bit of a shock.

We did used to have an HBF at work. Lovely chap. I couldn’t hold a conversation with him though because I’m an idiot and couldn’t look him in the eye.
