And wenches can use their imaginations to make the temperature rise and anything else they can think of.

What a complete and utter bollocks about your internet Wicked. Hope it’s fixed soon.

Ah those pre-mobile phone days. No wonder my mother went grey in her 30s.

Went to see parents today. Mother looking very well. LovelyMIL has been round for dinner.

About to see one of my favourite bits from Captain America “I’d like to surrender myself for disciplinary action”. Well if you insist Grin

Watched Aquaman today. Totally preposterous and quite silly but very entertaining and Jason Momoa was excellent in all ways Grin

Ep5 of Poldark tonight for us.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/08/2019 20:43

Evening.

FFS re. internet Wicked - what an utter pain. Sad there is much swearing when that happens here.

We did have a mostly lovely day out, slightly spoiled by DS having a hissy fit at being called a wuss ("My legs are tired" was the winge - this from the child who happily skis 20 miles in a day.) I wandered round enthusing about cultural place:
Me: "Look at the carvings!" "Look at the detail!" Look at..."
DS: "..."
DS friend: "blank/polite look"
DH: "I'm a little bit bored actually."
Me: "FFS I should just do these things by myself shouldn't I?" Sad "But LOOK!!!! Look! It's amazing, it's... oh whatever. I'm going to look at this bit now."
DH: "Sorry, it's just..."

Still, despite the slight lack of enthusiasm and mild strop, it was a nice day out and it was very hot. And I think I slept most of the way home in the car. Grin

I'm not looking forward to the whole 'waiting up for DS' thing Confused Though thank goodness for mobile phones these days. My brother was a Donnington the year that people were killed in a crush and my mother was going quietly demented all night because she heard about it on the news. (I was oblivious because she didn't tell anyone else.) Though I suspec I'll know when he's coming and going because I'll be taxi driver for years in this place with No Public Transport Within 2 miles (and very limited public transport within 5 miles).

We are now catching up on Foo Fighters. (Agree re. Aquaman - v silly and great fun.)

LetUsPrey · 26/08/2019 20:58

Blimey Helen re the Donnington thing Shock

Were you, in fact, on a day out with my family Helen? Whilst on holiday, we did a day trip to extensive archaeological site which I’d been really looking forward to. DH and the DC not so much. In hindsight, I should have just left them back at the hotel.

There was a bit in Aquaman where he was in chains. I’m spotting a theme.... Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/08/2019 21:38

Chains, you say?
Grin

We should go on holiday with each other LetUs - please uproot your family immediately and move here so we can do cultural excursions together. (And our definition of culture is VERY broad Wink )

That is an excellent idea Helen

Also, holy fuck at that second picture in particular

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 26/08/2019 22:28

So the internet was fixed at 10 o'clock, only took 8 hours to fix. I lost half a day at work, great.
The only good thing that happened today is the Star Wars trailer which looks AMAZEBALLS!!!!!

FancyFancy · 27/08/2019 07:59

What an absolute bugger ww Angry

All cultural excursions should be undertaken in the company of wencheshelen - it's much more fun Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/08/2019 08:00

DS was flailing at me last night re. the Star War trailer Grin

Also, my last post should have read that we will DO cultural things together. (Aramis is reading; Aramis is cultural. Athos is drinking wine tasting; Athos is cultural. etc etc ad infinitum)

I need to go to work. Booooo Sad and it's hot and sunny and I really don't fancy work. Ho hum. I shall pretend I have HBFs waiting there for me.

LetUsPrey · 27/08/2019 08:00

Morning wenches.

Eight hours Wicked?! FFAS that’s crap. Shall check out the new SW trailer today.

Back to work. Really don’t want to. I didn’t sleep well at all. One day I’ll stop whining, but today is not that day.

ApricotCrush · 27/08/2019 18:26

Evening wenches. Lovely start to the day so I continued with my mission to keep the line full of washing. It rained. Confused

That's awful Helen about Donnington. Your poor mother. We were always willing to be a taxi service, but they get to an age when they don't want Mummy or Daddy picking them up from a nightclub. Hmm

Although having said that, DD used to go to a club which was owned by the parents of one of her friends, and we had a call one New Year's Eve to go and collect her. We celebrated New Year driving through town to find her outside the club being held up by two of the bouncers (lovely guys) who shovelled her into the car and I sat with a bowl under her head all the way home and had to undress her when we got there. That was her 'never again' moment although she's been close since. Grin

Hope everyone's had a good day.

Evening wenches.

—although we have rain forecast tomorrow but other wenches may be okay—

My older sister was once literally picked up out of the gutter by our uncle when he spotted her on a night out many many years again, and younger sister fell asleep on a train and missed her stop Grin. I have never ever done anything similar. Never, for example, not realised I’ve had really bad cramp in my calf whilst I was sleep, —came round— woke up the next morning, got out of bed and fell over because the “leftover” pain was so bad.

Work was awful today. People seem incapable of doing anything for themselves.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 27/08/2019 19:28

The last time I was drunk must've been 13-14 years ago, on New Years Eve, I took the bike from the bus stop but had to stop and puke in a ditch. Lovely.

ApricotCrush · 27/08/2019 20:39

I've puked twice in the gutter. The first was on the way home from a cider pub. I drank two pints of really rough cider and was so ill I couldn't go to work the next day. I've never touched the stuff since, can't bear the smell of it. The second time was coming home from an engagement party. My in-laws were in the car behind. I swear my drinks were mixed up. Confused

Thank you for the sunshine LetUs. We're going to the caravan tomorrow for a few days, the forecast isn't good.

OP posts:
SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/08/2019 21:15

I don't think I've ever thrown up from alcohol. I did decide that I shouldn't stand up though - along with my friends who I was with, all of us sitting in the sun drinking peach schnapps and lemonade like it was fruit juice. I have made some fairly dubious choices when drunk though. Confused Blush

It' still really hot here, so I put washing out at about 8:30pm. I've just checked the forecast and now I think I maybe ought to bring it in before I go to bed. (The forecast is showing 3 raindrops from 6am Confused ) Fingers crossed that your forecast is wrong Apricot and if not, then you can pretend you're stuck in a caravan in the rain with a HBF Grin

Work was predictably work-ish and the day dragged...

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/08/2019 21:49

Oh - there's a TB interview in Time Out - twitter.com/TomBurkeOnlinex/status/1166412667592019974

And OMG I'm going to have to crack and get netflix... www.theguardian.com/books/2019/jul/02/neil-gaiman-the-sandman-is-green-lit-by-netflix?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 27/08/2019 22:15

Also, download "Movies with Ali Plumb" from iplayer - there is much FAF and amusement. (We have been watching the Avengers episode tonight.)

FancyFancy · 27/08/2019 22:35

Well I'm feeling left out - have never puked in the gutter Grin have only thrown up from alcohol once - I blame it on not being used to the champagne I'd been drinking.... Had some stupendous hangovers though - the sort where you daren't move until mid-afternoon. In case any of you thought it was a good idea, don't drink half a bottle of port before heading out for the evening. It really isn't a good idea. Unless you are aiming for a 48hr hangover

LetUsPrey · 27/08/2019 22:48

I’ve always made it to the toilet on those unfortunate occasions. So proud Grin. It’s been a while though as obviously I’m much more sensible now that I’m older

Have a wonderful time Apricot.

Noooo stop putting the good stuff on Netflix!

Half a bottle of port Fancy? That makes me feel a bit woozy just thinking about it.

I shall go and think about other things that will make me feel altogether happier.

FancyFancy · 27/08/2019 22:57

Me too, letus, me too. I think 'hammered' just about sums it up. Not so drunk that I changed teams though.........Wink

LetUsPrey · 28/08/2019 07:39

Morning wenches.

Switch teams?! - unthinkable ShockShockGrin

Cloudy, dull and rainy here. Still, at least the bank holiday weekend was nice. Hope some of that weather is lingering over Apricot’s caravan

Suppose I’d better get on with breakfast and think about going to work.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/08/2019 08:01

Are there other teams to switch to? Confused Grin Maybe it was more of an expansion than a switch?

It's not raining; I could have left the washing out. Still, one less job for the morning I suppose.

I have to go to work - dooom Sad

FancyFancy · 28/08/2019 08:35

Morning.
A smattering of rain overnight here - that'll be because I watered the plants last night Hmm

Right, work.......

ApricotCrush · 28/08/2019 17:26

Evening. We're still at home. It's been such a miserable, wet day that we didn't feel like a two hour drive. Might go tomorrow depending on the weather.

We've just put the heating on.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/08/2019 19:52

Evening.
Sad apricot fairly rainy morning here too. Then it cleared over in the afternoon, and then rained again this evening. Back to 'changeable' again then.

Work was 'meh' though I had a nice time re-writing a report so it was a bit more readable. Fascinating stuff eh?!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 28/08/2019 21:08

Also apricot - no-one else know what an ‘expressionistic nihilist’ is either Grin
