And wenches can use their imaginations to make the temperature rise and anything else they can think of.

Afternoon. Thowing it down all day here.

I've also been roped in to make party food, but it's only a trifle. DD's having a birthday BBQ/garden party for 24 people. She's braver than me. The weather does look better for tomorrow but we're a bit apprehensive. DH is currently dismantling and cleaning our garden furniture to be transported to their house.

Poor you LetUs. If it is a cold I hope it isn't too bad.

It is Rupert Penry-Jones. I remember him from Silk.

It's been raining here since about 1pm. I shall be in need of an umbrella too. Sadly I've misfiled my picture of Strike-with-Umbrella, so I shall have to content myself with hiding under his coat. Or Athos' cloak.*

eek at the idea of a garden party/BBQ tomorrow. Confused Can I come and eat the trifle though?

Hurrah for Friday indeed. I need to go and bake though. Again/still.

*Other cloaks and coats are available

Trifle? That's some sort of exotic British dessert isn't it? I remember when Rachel in Friends tried to make it Grin

LetUsPrey · 16/08/2019 19:54

Evening wenches. It has not stopped raining all day here either.

I am on the Pimms which will obviously kill any lurking cold germs. Also, I looked in the mirror in the bathroom at work today and I’m sure I could hear someone shouting “wiiiiiiiiitttcccchhhh” in a 17th century accusatory fashion.

Trifle is DH’s most favourite dessert in the whole wide world. He eats one of the family size M&S ones all by himself —in one, brief sitting—. And yet he remains slim.

The Rachel trifle Grin

Also Grin at void fill

DS2 wants to play Monopoly. Apparently DS1 is playing too. This will not end well.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 16/08/2019 20:06

I've been drinking just in case, you know, white one tastes really good Grin

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 16/08/2019 20:07

Wine not one ffs

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/08/2019 21:17

Wine has a higher nutritional content than that over void filler.

I don't remember trifle in Friends - I assume it didn't end well?

LetUs - you didn't stay in front of the mirror long enough. It was your subconscious asking WHICH HBF you'd like to start this tonight. How was whack-a-mole today, btw?

Hope Fancy hasn't had to earn more brownie points at work today.

LetUsPrey · 16/08/2019 21:55

I believe pages of a recipe book were stuck together and Rachel combined a recipe for trifle with one for shepherd’s pie - trifle with mince in it.

How was whack-a-mole? I’m going to need a bigger hammer next week. FFAS.

Yes perhaps that was it. Which HBF. It’s generally whichever one gets here first and then I go from there Grin

I lost at Monopoly. Didn’t even have to try to lose.

LetUsPrey · 16/08/2019 21:56

Allure. Excellent word, allure.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 16/08/2019 22:02

Apparently, his characte is an "ex-public school symbolist opera buff who takes dates to the Wallace Collection"

I bet they didn't stand around sniggering at the 'erotic' engravings on Louis XIII pistols Grin Or dropping bits of the 'try on a suit of armour' exhibit Grin

FancyFancy · 16/08/2019 22:33

Evening - no more brownie points earned today, just a mundane day.

That is indeed Rupert Penry Jones - was also in Spooks - the faf before Richard Armitage joined.

@ void filler

Pfffft helen, doing the Wallace Collection any other way is just tooooooo dull Grin

Mmm ......trifle.

LetUsPrey · 17/08/2019 10:17

Morning wenches.

When I was tired yesterday I read that as the “Wallace and Grommit” collection. It didn’t even seem strange.

Pimms didn’t kill the cold germs and I officially feel like shit. On the plus side it isn’t raining and is actually sunny.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/08/2019 10:32

Oh LetUs Sad I have been sneezing a lot over the past two days, and very much hope I'm not getting a cold too. We also have sun, so hopefully apricot does too for her DD's BBQ.

This morning I got up and did more baking etc. Then I went back to bed again, and feel a bit more human after another couple of hours in bed.

And I was going to say something else, but I got distracted and have absolutely no idea what it was now.

LetUsPrey · 17/08/2019 12:00

Here’s hoping the good weather is over all wenches, but particularly on Apricot’s barbecue.

My whim needs more tending so I’ll be needing more HBFs.

Can germs travel over the internet? Have a bit of a sore throat too

Hope the weather stays good for you apricot - rather showery here which is a bugger as I have mountains of laundry to get through

ApricotCrush · 17/08/2019 14:48

Afternoon. The weather here is remarkably sunny, if rather windy, hope it stays that way.

I remember the Rachel trifle Grin

That looks amazing Apes

Almost fell asleep on the couch, up since 6.30 this morning for work. Then I took a walk to buy wine. Feeling a bit knackered.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 17/08/2019 17:24

Hope all sick wenches feels better soon!

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 17/08/2019 22:02

I love you apricot (I hate sherry in trifles) Grin and at 'hard work

And I'm feeling very distracted - thank you LetUs Grin

We had a nice family party, and now I'm planning on an early night in the hayloft. Hope apricot's BBQ went well...

LetUsPrey · 17/08/2019 22:43

It’s important to have a goal in mind when you go out for a walk Wicked

DH would consider moving in with you Apricot if you made him trifles like that. Not sure he’s bothered about the inclusion of sherry either way, just as long as the trifle has trifle in it Grin Hope the weather stayed fine for you.

Pleased to assist in any way I can Helen. This is also particularly and especially true as far as HBFs are concerned.

A friend of mine mentioned Brandon Flowers and Hot Priest from Fleabag in sentences close to each other. I then imagined Brandon as Hot Priest and had several moments.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 17/08/2019 22:50

How true Letus GrinWine

FancyFancy · 17/08/2019 23:31

Mmm, that looks good apricot, I like trifle with or without sherry - as long as there isn't too much sherry in it.

Am enjoying a quiet evening as both DC are out. As are both cats.
