OP posts:
moomina · 11/09/2004 21:50

Someone recommended it on another site (Babyworld?) and I haven't looked back! Wish I had found it when I was pg though.

discoinferno · 11/09/2004 21:51

I saw it on Richard and Judy. Sorry I didn;t see it sooner. Would love to have been part of the Due in ...... threads.

KangaMummy · 11/09/2004 21:51

I saw it on BBC weekend breakfast on CLICKonline.

Addicted ever since

jampot · 11/09/2004 21:52

I was searching for advice on whether I was being overprotective with my dd last Sept/Oct as her (childless) teacher thought I should give her more freedom even though dd didn't want it. She was organising a trip to Bude for year 6 and they were staying in caravans on their own (teachers were in one caravan by themselves)

Skate · 11/09/2004 21:52

A friend of mine told me about it as she used it to get advice on her 'potty trained' ds who suddenly started weeing in his pants all day long! She kept going on about it and in the end I thought I'd have a look - it was right at the end of my third (and probably final) pregnancy and I got some great support and advice so really wish I'd found it much sooner.

Totally addicted now!

lavender1 · 11/09/2004 21:53

It was a Sunday afternoon and I'd done the housework, children were playing and dd's bedroom was an absolute tip..hadn't any plans for the afternoon, so got on computer and typed in "how to tidy children's bedrooms" and mumsnet came up....since that day I have been addicted and have had to wean myself off as relying on the advice too much

Hulababy · 11/09/2004 21:55

I saw it recommended on Raising Kids. A poster there was getting some grief from other posters, and someone from here went over and told the poriginal poster to try MN for a friendlier place. I hardly used RK at all and found it quite arguementative. So came over and had a look back in January 2003. Not looked back since

Tessiebear · 11/09/2004 21:55

Saw it advertised in a Sunday supplement - wish i had known about it during my pregnancies - i used to spend hours scouring the net for advice and never really getting anywhere!

MUMINAMILLION · 11/09/2004 21:56

I was totally and completely amazed at how fabulous one of my friends looked after she lost 2 stone. As I am constantly dieting (and constantly failing) I asked her how she had done it. She introduced me to the Big/Slim club and I havent looked back. Only, now I cant get off the flipping computer because I am addicted and must have put on anther half a stone due to inactivity!!

Tommy · 11/09/2004 21:57

My DH found it looking for reviews of baby stuff when I was pg with DS1 - he sort of regrets it now....

JanH · 11/09/2004 21:59

I found it in the Guardian - they used to have a weekly mag called The Editor which included a column on excellent websites they had found. Never looked back!

tammybear · 11/09/2004 22:01

i did a search engine looking for websites for mums and i think this was one of the first that popped up. been on ever since

Flossam · 11/09/2004 22:08

Was searching for stuff about anomolies in 12 week scans and this place popped up! Wish I had seen it earlier so I could of read 'i will not get pregnant again because...' If only I had realised!!

Dingle · 11/09/2004 22:31

Searching for a tripp trapp highchair. Haven't got it yet, been spending to much time on MN.

EvesMama · 11/09/2004 22:33

looking for advice on better nutrition for my DD! cant wait for her bed time to get on here. poor dp is feeling neglected but knows im getting help!

Slinky · 11/09/2004 22:36

Hulababy

Same as me! I was a member of UKP for yonks until I got fed up with it all, so joined RK. Didn't particularly like RK and saw the same thread mentioning MN, so I came to have a look!

And that was back in January 2003 as well

Hulababy · 11/09/2004 22:39

I also used to use Babyworld a lot - found that when just og and used the Antenatal club there, and the discussion forums a bit. But that started to get a bit nightmarish too - especially the News/Debate type thread - I think it's called something like that now. They still have loads of arguements and name calling there. Can't be doing with it. Some don't use that anymore either now.

Portree · 11/09/2004 22:39

Googling for info to help with ds's eczema.

Twiglett · 11/09/2004 22:40

message withdrawn

moomina · 11/09/2004 22:41

I used Babyworld a lot too, but find their threads really annoying because you have to click on every post to read it! Plus, like Hula says, loads of bitching - makes our more heated threads look like a vicar's tea-party.

fairydust · 11/09/2004 22:41

by accident can't even remember what i was looking for just wish i'd have found it whilst pregnant with dd and not after

Slinky · 11/09/2004 22:44

Haven't used BW for about 3 months - the Debate forum (only one I used) became a total nightmare - lots of bitching/name calling and there developed a "clique" which I believe are now banned and have gone on to form their own little group.

lydialemon · 11/09/2004 22:47

Pratical Parenting had an article about mums setting up businesses from home, and MN was one talked about. I was bored one night, thought I'd have a look (never bothered with discussion groups before) and got hooked. DH got me broadband as I was spending so much time and phonebill on it!

Demented · 11/09/2004 22:50

I was searching for information about Group Strep B (early 2002) and there was a link on the support group website to a MN discussion, I have only left to go to the toilet and grab some food since!

agy · 11/09/2004 22:56

I heard about MN from another mum and came on here for the first time to get information about dmsa scan which DS had to have at 17 months. Lou kindly put a link on to a very helpful web page. Never imagined MN was something I would get addicted to!
