Dear colleagues, if you want to dick about because you’re a bit giddy because breaking up for Christmas, that’s fine. But could you not make a shit ton of noise near me, especially when I’m on the phone —taking a call for you— and I’ve got a load of work still to do. Dickheads.

Other than that, quite a nice day, except for the weather, and I’ve now finished work.

DH has done the sort of opposite of a house blitz and has put up loads of new decorations. He’s overdone it a bit if you can believe it.

He looks a bit knackered and quite satisfied there LetUs - you've obviously been taking good care of him. But that's no surprise, because you're very thoughtful like that. At least you've finished work now, so you're done with the twats for a week.

I imagine that apricot got very messy sorting out the chimney. She probably needs a good wash. Mr Strike says that he'll help with that, and he's making sure the shower is the right temperature.

DS2 is still awake FFS. DH has gone to try to make him stay in bed and not keep going into DS1’s room. I am waiting for DH so we can finish watching the programme we’ve got on so I can go to bed.

Morning all. Not much of a lie in - off to the vets with Stupid Cat foe a check-up

Hope all goes well with StupidCat’s check up. That lavender’s not working on MiniHelen is it? Never worked on either DC here.

I should get moving into the shower, get a wash on, tidy up, wrap some presents.

Lavender... well, the house smells nice anyway.

Today's top tip for wenches doing the laundry... if you leave the detergent sitting out on top of the machine, grubby short collar will remain grubby, even after a full 2-3 hour eco wash.

Vet wants more money me to take Stupid Cat back for another check-up, but she's fine really. I also got a new flea/tick/worm treatment for them. Vet put it on Stupid cat, slowly eking it out of the syringe to make sure it got onto the skin rather than fur. I brought the rest home to deal with Inconvenient Cat. The syringe was a bit stiff, so I pressed down a bit harder... and squirted the whole lot out in one go. Inconvenient Cat's fur will not be suffering from worms, ticks, or fleas. I'm not sure how much went on his skin though

Was very busy yesterday at work - we're closed until January 2nd now, so needed to get stuff done. Then did a grocery shop. And then realised that if DS was coming home, I should really put some clean linen on his bed as FancyCat has been sleeping on it for weeks now!

Anyhow he came home, looked pleased to see us, beer & nibbles all round & then he buggered off to a party somewhere & rolled back in at fuck-knows-what-time

Glad to hear StupidCat is ok helen & at the flea treatment - you'd think that getting it on FancyCat would be hard, what with all the fur, but actually it's harder with ScaredyCat .

DH is out shopping, I need to do more obvious stuff around the house to score points in the "I've had a hard day" stakes - being used as a cat bed won't count for much, but tbh I think he wins hands down anyway for going to Tesco today... I shall go tidy a room...

Chimney is sorted, Athos was a great help in the shower. All presents are wrapped and under the tree.

DS sounds pretty normal to me Fancy.

We're going out this evening with friends and although it will be nice to see them, it's the last thing I want with this stupid cough which I've now had enough of, it can fuck off. I'm driving back too.

Oh, I've done the food shop too, although there's bound to be something I've forgotten.

Afternoon - braved the shops for one more present, now just need to wrap them all......

It is inevitable that you will forget one thing apricot, it happens to us all. And if you, by some miracle, don't forget anything come Christmas lunch time you will forget to serve something up & when clearing up afterwards find it going cold in the microwave/lurking at the back of the fridge/still in the garage because you stored it there when you ran out of room in the fridge........

DS eventually surfaced, in a surprisingly good mood. He does at least look pleased to be home and he & DD seem genuinely happy to see each other, which is rather sweet.

Have had to go out to the shops about an hour ago for something that DH was supposed to be getting for DS2 from MIL. I’ve been reminding him for about two weeks to do it . It’s something sporty and I’ve done mostly everything else so surely he could manage this. He took DS2 out this morning for other shopping. Tried the thing on. Didn’t buy it because “he wasn’t sure if it looked too big or not” but it’s okay “because mum will take you out later”. Aaarrrggghhhhhhh!!! Sports shops are not my natural environment. All sorted now though. FFAS.

Am mid-way through wrapping. I have alcohol.

Watched the Graham Norton Show earlier that Jason Momoa was on. I’ve liked Mr Momoa from his GoT days but gosh he’s made an even better impression. He’s huge and I must say he looks very erm capable

We're also out this evening, but hopefully not a late night. I will hide in a corner and not speak to anyone I don't know put my best sociable face on and enjoy myself. Suggest you do more gargling with Athos Apricot Or maybe stay in the shower because the steam company will be soothing for your cough.

Evening. Had a nice time out, and spent the evening huddled in a corner with people I knew. i.e. DH and DS, then a friend arrived and we swapped "Do you know anyone else here?" queries which drew lots of blanks until organising-friend joined us and named all the people, who I still didn't know. Never mind, was fun apart from the loud music which meant I couldn't hear much unless it was delivered at a shout. Did win a raffle prize - Elemis or something. Apparently it's super-fab and expensive, so Yay!?! Gave some of it to my friend who hyperventilated at the sight of it To be fair, I tried to just give her the lot since I don't tend to bother with expensive smelly stuff (and I didn't have my glasses to see what it actually was), but she wasn't having it and made me keep some: "This is a shower wash - you do have showers?!" I believe that I also have a toner and some hand cream. I have no idea, but she was very excited.

Morning all. Have done the livestock and need to declare war on the chicken house rats. FFS. etc. Have also processed yet more apples. Have taken empty boxes out to polytunnel to help tidy up. Am a hive of domestic activity.
