That works on so many levels -
Take me said every wench to the HBFs of their choice
Take me dancing - well that would do, said every wench to the HBFs of their choice
Take me dancing naked - as long as you strip too, said every wench to the HBFs of their choice
Take me dancing naked in the rain - can we please, FFS have some rain here?

Welcome one and all to the new thread.

Pull up a barstool, pour a drink, state your preferences and order of FAF.

Herewith the obligatory HBF-in-the-rain GIF...

Now, get back and finish the last HBF thread off.... Grin

Morning wenches.

thanks Helen

Have to try to get DS2 to do a bit of homework today. Fun times ahead then.

LetUsPrey · 09/08/2018 11:58

Homework is going as expected.

Was going to make a Brew. We’ve run out of sugar. FFAS.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/08/2018 13:10

Gah!
I don't think I have any Emergency HBFs-with-sugar. There must be one with a cuppa...

There we go Grin

Helen, I have no words. DS2 is being a bit of a PITA, I’ve just been trying to sort out his clothes, kitchen’s a bit of a tip - you know, just generally bits and pieces that taken together bring your mood down.

And then I pop into the tav and see your post aannnnnddddd I feel a heck of a lot better Grin

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/08/2018 15:05

You're most welcome. And Oh god - the clothes sort-out I ought to be doing that too. But I have been putting new music on my phone, so that is a good and productive use of my time.

I need to do what you do with 'too big' clothes actually (box them into the loft for a year or so), because we get hand-me-downs, for which I'm very grateful, but DS seems to have so much already, and the bigger sizes take up more room. and the new clothes end up sitting in piles around the place. My worry is that if I put them away, I'll forget that I have them Confused

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 09/08/2018 17:06

As DS2 starts to grow out of clothes, I send DH into the loft to bring down the next boxes —which he denies are there at first—. Strangely though, when we had the last batch down a few weeks ago, I didn’t come across any school shirts for high school for him.

Have been out with DS2, bought sugar, and have had a Brew. Sat outside with it. Was slightly marred by being harassed by a wasp.

New music on phone is extremely important

Am watching the swimming.

LetUsPrey · 09/08/2018 17:19

Claire Balding just said about gold medal winning swimmer Ben Proud “he keeps his strokes long but, as Mark Foster said, all the power comes from his hips” GrinGrinGrin. I can’t be sure, but there sounded like there was a smile in her voice.

ApricotCrush · 09/08/2018 18:40

Evening. We have had rain. Not much, but it all helps. Smile

We have bought a privacy screen for the caravan which is woven around the decking, but when we tried it last week it was too long, so DH is shortening it on the sewing machine. Shock I'm keeping out of it. Actually he's probably better at hemming than me. Knitting and crocheting I'm fine at, but I can't machine a straight line to save my life. Confused

I'd better go and sort out something to eat. Wine

ApricotCrush · 09/08/2018 18:40

Grin at Clare Balding.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/08/2018 18:45

I do love Clare Balding. I like to think she was saying that with full knowledge of the innuendo Grin

You are keeping a bit of an eye on him aren’t you Apricot? Don’t want him stitching through anything he shouldn’t Shock

Anywench who wants rain, we appear to have quite a bit forecast for tomorrow and Sunday.

Hope Fancy isn’t stuck in hot commuting hell. And Wicked’s not suffering from exhaustion from fanfic.

Talking about long strokes powered by the hips and where that sort of comment leads us...
Mr Burke is keeping himself very busy with fundraisers.
The Cinema Musem now offers us, for £40, An intimate evening with Tom Burke:
"Come and meet popular film and television actor Tom Burke, who will be screening his favourite film, followed by a Q&A from the floor, and closing with drinks with Tom at the bar."
www.cinemamuseum.org.uk/2018/an-intimate-evening-with-tom-burke-the-cinema-museum/
Suppose that's cheaper than the one in, erm... Southampton was it? Where you had to pay £60-ish. I can't see where they say which of his 'favourite' films it is. I'm guessing it won't be Avengers Assemble Grin

I'm off for an early dunk in the trough followed by flaking out in the hayloft... shortly anyway, once I've finished mucking about online.

OP posts:
ApricotCrush · 09/08/2018 20:59

I'm a bit sad about this TB thing. We've lost him, haven't we? As you said before Helen, I don't think he'll do any more mingling with the fans after theatre performances. He'll only do it if it's official and for one of the charities. Shame really, but I suppose that's fame for you. Sad

LetUsPrey · 09/08/2018 21:37

Grin at Avengers Assemble

I think you’re right Apricot. On the one hand it’s good that he can get money for the charities he supports, but on the other it is a shame that there doesn’t seem to be any future impromptu mingling opportunities.

That makes sense in my head, but I’m just in the middle of an argument with DH and DS1. I’m right of course and they’re both being complete and utter pillocky pillocks. Angry

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 09/08/2018 22:21

Yes, agreed. It's very good that he can leverage his popularity for good causes, but boo for lack of unplanned and un-paid-for informal blethering opportunities. IDK. I'm very conflicted about the whole thing. On the one hand, good for those who are willing to pay for the privilege of meeting him & are happy to own that fact. But the thought of meeting him purely because I've paid for it just makes me cringe, because I can't carry of the levels of self delusion that would let me convince myself that I'm there for the cause - I know fill well that I would have ever paid any real attention to 'the cause' if he hadn't been involved. Maybe we've just been spoiled because of past encounters.

But I do envy those who aren't bothered by the concept of paying for access because, wouldn't that be fun to have that level of brazenness(iyswim?) I don't envy the ones who delude themselves that it's all about the cause and not him or the ones who just pretend that it's all about the cause, because that lack of self-awareness and honesty isn't somewhere I'd want to be.)

Confession - when we went to see Deep Blue Sea, we went and watched at the stage door. Didn't actually go there, just watched from a distance on the basis that if he noticed us as he left (as per previous) then we'd say hello, but otherwise we'd leave him in peace. So, he did the whole signing and talking-to-fans thing, and then finished and walked off in the opposite direction from us, so no chance of seeing him. That was him all done and going home. Then, I kid you not, two fans who must have been hanging about but didn't join the scrum shouted his name and actually ran after him (because he'd walked past them without seeing them) so they could talk to him Shock They actually chased after him Shock [shock[] Shock Talk about WTAF! I def. wouldn't want to be that brazen. If he wants to talk, lovely, but I'm not bloody chasing after the poor bloke. Maybe that's my problem with the money thing - it just is too much like imposing my presence on him without giving him any choice I the matter.

I may need to go and sit on the couch chaise now for some psychoanalysis.

Oh - while I remember, I there was a new tweet about that new jacket he's getting made (tweet from the tailor) #IsItOKThat... my main thought was "Oooh, I do like those buttons!" Grin Grin

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 09/08/2018 22:58

Absolutely Helen. I don’t think I could chase after someone, shouting their name. Wouldn’t exactly be endearing.

On the other hand, if there had been, for example, an opportunity to go backstage and meet the band at The Killers gig last month —for nothing or for a reasonable amount of cash that I could afford—, I’d have been there like a shot Grin. Like a rat up a drainpipe. Although that wouldn’t be me suddenly developing an interest in a particular charity, so I think that’s fine Grin

at buttons

DH and DS1 both gone to bed. DS2 is still awake. Fab.

FancyFancy · 10/08/2018 08:22

Morning, mercifully I do not have the long commute today am looking forward to being at my own desk Smile

Chasing after hbfs? No, don't think I could do that unless it's round the bedroon bad 70s comedy stylee

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/08/2018 08:30

Erm... LetUs? Are you stuck in there?

Hurrah for no long commute for fancy!!

DS has sporting stuff going on this morning, then we are off to Big City for the manshapes to go to a concert while I have a mini-meet. Yippeeeeeee!!!!!!

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 10/08/2018 08:34

Morning wenches. Friiiidddaayyyyyy!!!!

Hurrrah for no long commute Fancy! at chasing HBFs round the bedroom

It would admittedly have to be quite a large drainpipe for me to fit Helen, but I’m fine Grin

I’ve promised DS2 a cinema visit which I’d timed to coincide with the forecast all day rain. Have woken up to bright sunshine.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/08/2018 10:22

FFS at inconvenient weather.... Hmm

The drainpipe is perfectly suited to wench/HBF access and activities LetUs - it's kind of like the Room of Requirement Grin

I need to throw stuff in a bag...

LetUsPrey · 10/08/2018 12:16

The weather has sorted itself out and it is now weeing it down. We’ve been watching Teen Titans Go To The Movies. Not dreadful but not worth the full admission price either. Not seen Incredibles 2 yet.

My mind is boggling at a wench Room of Requirement Grin

ApricotCrush · 10/08/2018 17:02

Afternoon wenches. It's been raining here. It started just after we finished watering DS's allotment. Hmm

Going back to TB, I agree with what you say about the hypocrisy of supporting 'the cause'. We only went to the first Carols because we were already in London and Tom was there. I'd never heard of the charity. I had no expectation of actually meeting him, but the opportunity arose, and we took it. On each occasion I've met him, he's come over to us, I wouldn't dream of harassing him. The first time DH set it up with him outside the church, although we had no idea it would work, and at the second Carols we went to he spotted us standing at the back and actually walked through the scrum to us amid some puzzled and slightly irked looks and said 'I know you have a train to catch.....' He'd remembered us. The same at the Hampstead, we stood aside and waited until he'd finished with the photos etc. and he saw us.

I'm sure if you'd been in his line of vision after Deep Blue Sea, he would have come over. He would have remembered you.

But that may have all changed now as the fandom has become so much larger. He's already requested that only a group pic be taken rather than individual ones. We were lucky to have been in at the beginning. Smile

About paying for access, I've always been a bit uncomfortable about the Comic Cons, which aren't even for charity. I know Tom only did one, and pulled out of a couple more, so perhaps that was enough for him. I guess with the acting profession being so insecure (hopefully not for Tom) they have to make their money where they can, and if fans can afford it, it is an opportunity to meet their obsessions favourites. So a win-win situation.

Yay for own desk, cinema visit and mini-meetup. Who are you meeting Helen?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/08/2018 17:05

The first thing the Room of Requirement would need is all the HBFs Then just add accessories of your choice. Simples Grin

I suspect that I will be going to see Teen Titans at the cinema too. Which I don't mind because they do make me giggle. Esp Raven. Will hopefully get some free cinema tickets via DH's bank account perk.

Am safely installed at Chateau Fancy, waiting for the Lady of the House to come home. And Fancy too Wink DS and DH are ON THE TRAIN yuppie style. There was some VERY heavy rain on the way here, which wasn't overly pleasant, and the traffic was hellish in places which led to DH being horribly stressy. Still, all done now. And we got tickets to see DS's new favourite band in November, so all is well.

OP posts:
LetUsPrey · 10/08/2018 18:02

I love that story of your meeting with him Apricot Smile

Rain’s gone now.

I suspect the film will be funnier with free tickets Helen Grin

Boo to rain and traffic, hurrah for tickets! Even bigger hurrah for mini-meet!!

I suspect I’d never leave the Room of Requirement. Bit like the Enterprise holodeck but without what I always thought were potential privacy issues.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 10/08/2018 20:34

Oh, I had a x-post with Apricot! Hello Apricot Grin I'm meeting Fancy, as you will have gathered from the x-post! We have been out for food and are now heading for a re-watch, because we can.

at holodeck privacy issues. Do you think they had to do GDPR things on the Enterprise too?
