How about lunch in Brighton 28 September - Any takers ?

If that's bad for people we could always make it October , but I'm just trying to be decisive ...

MABS, that's fine with me - looking forward to it!

(One minor point, you don't support Brighton & Hove Albion, by any chance? As a supporter of their bitter rivals there may be fisticuffs!)

pupuce · 08/08/2002 12:01

I have a question for you.... I want to go to the beach with my 2 - is there a sandy beach in that area or are they all pebbles ?
Thanks

bossykate · 08/08/2002 13:07

I would love to come. Is it children included or more of an adult get together? 28th Sept is fine for me.

Excellent!

Tortington · 08/08/2002 13:32

that sounds great, as i dont know brighton very well ( even tho i work there) i am open to suggestions.
the beach is full of pebbles, glorious to sit on agony to paddle in without water proof sandles...still i do tho!
nearest sandy beach is littlehampton i think

are u all bringing kids?
am not as i dont like them particularly!

Rhubarb · 08/08/2002 14:11

Oooh, 28th is no good for me I'm afraid. Dh's birthday is on the 30th so no doubt he'll want us to do something that weekend. So I will have to bow out now, shame really. Have a great time and please someone take photos!

MABS · 08/08/2002 14:20

agree Custardo , beach is certainly not sandy What's easier for people - with or without little darlings ? I don't mind - we can choose somewhere that suits either way.

Personally I'm intending to leave mine for some quality time with daddy. Mabs

Rhubarb- such a shame you can't come . If he cancels his birthday you know where we'll be !

What about anyone else, come on

Regards Mabs

My vote is for definitely without children - I think mumsnet lunches are for the mums!! Also it is good for dh/dp's to look after the little darlings occasionally!
Pupuce: the best beach is Camber sands (not far from Rye) but probably not during the school summer hols.

Very stupidly I've just raelised that 28 Sept ain't great for me as dd has a ballet exam . I can still make it - but would moving it a week later to 5 Oct cause a major problem for anyone or would it suit ?

OP posts:
Tortington · 09/08/2002 22:15

its good for me!

CAM · 10/08/2002 14:45

October 5 would be good for me. My vote is without children but where shall we eat, Mabs?

MABS · 10/08/2002 18:47

CAM - I'm easy as I eat anything , do you think pizza express would be suitable? Browns is another possible, but I'm not sure if you can book. There's always Donatellos and the HAHA bar is nice. Any thoughts ? Shall we stick with lunch on 5 October then?

Where are the rest of you ? What about you Londoners - Brighton's quite civilised really

OP posts:
jodee · 10/08/2002 21:25

Hi MABS, Oct 5 suits me too, and I would also go with an adults-only lunch! Don't mind where we eat either (but would prefer a smoke-free zone whilst eating).

Great. Oct 5 in the diary.

jodee · 11/08/2002 08:52

MABS, well done on winning the comp, have a great time being pampered!

CAM · 11/08/2002 15:11

Mabs, well done for winning the comp. I am thinking about where to eat and knowing how the mumsnet lunches go it will have to be somewhere they are not trying to hurry us up and get rid of us quickly. So I think Brighton's Pizza Express won't be the best bet. I am going to Brighton next week to get my haircut so I shall remind myself of the choices and make some suggestions.

MABS · 11/08/2002 18:58

Yeah CAM -very good point about being hurried - hadn't thought of that as its a long time since I had a long leisurely lunch without kids Look forward to hearing your suggestions - what'cuisine' does anyone else fancy ?

I agree with you Jodee aboout the non - smoking.

Many thanks for all your congratulations on winning the competition - I'm sure I can endure a day of pampering if I have to..........

bossykate · 11/08/2002 19:37

Oct 5th good for me and my vote is also for mums only.

MABS · 11/08/2002 20:50

good, good, good Mums only is winning - any particular type of food you prefer Bossykate ?

OP posts:
bossykate · 11/08/2002 22:15

MABS, i eat large quantities of most things! in the unlikely event i would be brave/patient enough to organise one of these, i think italian is a good choice as a general crowd pleaser, usually reasonably cheap, veg. options etc. but i really don't mind!

Rhubarb · 12/08/2002 13:57

Hmmm date change eh? I will have to check with Custardo if I can stay at her house, then check with dh that we have nothing planned for that weekend. Then check trains still running at the weekend. Will get back to you.

BTW well done MABS for the pampering prize, well deserved I thought!
