You'll all be pleased to know that as from yesterday the afternoons are getting lighter, by a minute of so every two days, although the mornings continue to get darker until 4th January. This is because of the earth's axis and the fact that our days aren't exactly 24 hours long. Or something.

Hurrah for re-jigged finishes. Our Christmas play involved the announcement that the gifts were 'Gold, Frankenscience, and Myrrh' And Lo! There was much guffawing in the aisles and on the stage, not least because it was a teacher who'd fluffed the lines on behalf of an absent child.

All nice and sunny here today, so the washing that has been on the line for about 3 days now is finally drying not getting any wetter

I must, must, must wrap presents/do chicken management stuff/make work phone calls. etc.

I have been on emergency shopping trip with DS to buy presents for his teachers... Because he decided tonight that he wanted to get them And they're not getting any of my hoard. (I was going to illustrate this with a picture of a dragon and it's hoard, but couldn't find one looking viciously possessive enough to be me facing an unauthorised raid on my chocolate stash.) Not that my hoard contains the right stuff.

Now I must help him wrap the stuff...
