Anyone else having a bad day?

I woke up to hear DD yelling at 5am with an extremely stinky nappy - no going back to sleep there. So I went downstairs, switched the computer on and received 3 e-mails all containing the Klez virus, fortunately dealt with by Norton's Anti Virus before they did any damage but it took a bit of sorting out and checking. DD was in a foul mood and wouldn't eat breakfast so most of it went on the floor.

Yesterday wasn't much better, I was woken by the neighbour's car alarm going off at 5.30am and managed to get a stone chip in the car windscreen on the way to playgroup, not a bad one but right in the line of vision so the screen will have to be replaced and unfortunately isn't covered on the insurance.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr! Hope tomorrow is better.

That's very interesting, I am being sent a copy of the report so I will know more when I get it, but I still don't think it would have been post natal. Ds came very quickly, didn't need special care, had no breathing troubles, his apgar was ok, and he didn't show any signs of being anything but a newborn iyswim. The paediatrician says this is an antenatal symptom too, but like I said i will wait and see the report. I think it stems to when I was about 12 weeks pg and had to have an endoscopy, I was really ill after the enema and they found me slumped on a bench about to pass out. They knew I was pg and said it would be ok to do, but now I am wondering.

Glad you managed to sort one friend out anyway, Lou.

Rhubarb · 12/12/2002 16:00

Am having very bad time. Went psycho at dh, in front of dd, haven't eaten properly for days, feel I am losing the plot again. Dh took day off work today, costing us £40 we can't afford. Just want to walk out or do something drastic, feel absolutely trapped.

prufrock · 12/12/2002 16:38

Rhubarb - go eat a biscuit NOW. Then leave dd with "d"h go for a walk, find a nice open space and scream very loudly.

Lucy123 · 12/12/2002 16:54

Rhubarb - hope you've managed to eat something. I often go psycho if I haven't had enough to eat (and I think it's just a question of getting some sugar in the blood rather than vitamins, but have a banana just in case). And (lack of) money is the root of all evil as they say. All my sympathy.

lou33 · 12/12/2002 18:04

Wish I could help you Rhubarb, I get that feeling too. I know it's a bit cliched but it really does help to talk. I go online and chat to my mates on msn when things get too stressful, and that usually takes the edge off my feelings. I hope you start to feel better soon.

An update with me, dh got the all clear which is good news, but dd is in hospital as I type waiting for some more tests to be done, they think she has an infection in her knee. She might have to stay in overnight , and I am off in a minute to go and see her (dh took her in this afternoon because I was at a school play).

WideWebWitch · 12/12/2002 18:23

Rhubarb, agree with eating something and screaming, though not at same time, obviously. Or short cold walk and big scream followed by warm bath, cold wine and a good book...

GeorginaA · 12/12/2002 19:09

Rhubarb - I can sympathise with not getting around to eating properly. Sometimes it's really hard to get around to looking after yourself as well as everyone else, isn't it?

I realised this week that I'd ended up cooking loads of "cheap" or "easy" meals but none of them I really enjoyed so just wasn't eating properly as a result. Have said to hell with the budget and healthy stuff now and am cooking loads of food I love for the rest of the week, just to get me eating properly again. A wander around the ready meals of M&S is always worth a visit Have got myself a chinese meal and a jam roly poly for dessert for tonight, yum!

Sorry you're feeling so bad, Rhubarb. Hope things have improved now. No other advice to add, but best wishes

Another quick update from me! Dd has been kept in hospital overnight. The doctors seem a bit baffled as to whats causing the pain, and thinking she might have an infection in her knee now. They have done more x-rays and taken some blood, and are arranging for her to have a bone scan tomorrow. The staff seem really lovely, but it was hard having to say goodbye to her, she suddenly looked so small, and she was quite tearful bless her.

Mopsy · 12/12/2002 22:35

thinking of you lou, and hope your dd makes a good recovery soon xx

WideWebWitch · 13/12/2002 12:03

Rhubarb, how are you feeling today? Lou, hope your dd is back home.

lou33 · 13/12/2002 22:45

Thanks for asking www. Dd stayed in overnight as I said, she had a bone scan this afternoon, which showed inflammation around the patella, meaning she had at some point probably dislocated her knee to some extent. Looking back this is exactly the symptoms she was showing, and as she has a collagen deficiency that comes down through me, I should have realised I guess, especially as I have dislocated mine maybe 10 times because of the same thing! Anyway this afternoon they sent her home on crutches, no cast or bandaging, but before we got back she was screaming in pain , and in fact it got so bad I ended up calling an ambulance because there was no way I could get her in the car. Gas and air seemed to help her, so of course by the time she got to the ward again she was quite a bit brighter, and so now she is on her way home as I type ,with dh and a tubigrip on her leg. Not too impressed I have to say. Apparently the hospital have a policy of either casting or tubigripping, but not splinting to keep her leg still at night. Depending on what they say there isn't a splint in her size available or they just don't exist. I wonder what the big splint I had for my knee was then , guess I must have been dreaming it.

So now we have to take her back to see some doctor on thursday, and I have to listen to her in pain all week. Oh and they cocked up her drugs to take home but don't seem too fussed about giving her the stronger stuff she was originally prescribed. Can you tell I'm tired and fed up?!

bossykate · 13/12/2002 23:18

oh lou33...

sorry it has all been rather a mare... fingers crossed her knee is better soon and you all get a bit of a respite!

all the best

I was one of the mums that wrote to the Daily Mirror about Whizzkidz, my son has Spastic Diplegia CP, so it may have been my letter that you saw. LOU33 if you want whizzkidz phone no, i'll dig it out for you. They provided my son with a trike that he uses to get to school. They also provide electic wheelchairs as the NHS can't provide these readily.

lou33 · 14/12/2002 13:50

Thanks everyone for your messages, I'm still too tired to reply properly but do appreciate them all. Dd is a bit better today, i.e not screaming in pain. The whizzkids number would be great,or a web address if they have one. Thanks everyone for your help.
