Oh Sassy, no!!! I'm so, so sorry. Your poor, poor friend, she must be reeling. Life is so flipping cruel sometimes.

I wish there was something I could do, even though I don't know either of you in RL! I'm just so sad for her, and for you too, as I know how sad I am if my friends are sad.

There just aren't any words, really. Hugs and Flowers to you both x

Thanks Malcolm. I think the thing that's really got to me is that one of the ways I was able to give her some perspective on Sat night is that she had time. Time to come to terms with it. Time to spend with her DM. Time to make some more memories. Her parents live in London. She lives here in SW. She didn't even get the chance to say goodbye in the end 😢 Heartbreaking. She's gone home now but will be back this weekend and I will do my absolute best to try to pick up some of her pieces for her...

Thank you for your kind words xx

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 02/06/2017 04:21

Oh I'm so sorry Sassy 😢

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 02/06/2017 04:27

Malcolm expressed it much better than I could.

Malcolm expressed it much better than I could.

SassynSane · 02/06/2017 08:47

Thanks EDBD. I was upset last night as it was such a shock and my friend was obviously in shock too. I'm ok this morning and will make sure I can offer my friend quiet strength when she needs it Smile

We're planning to go to the coast today for a wander and being by the sea is lovely and calming so looking forward to that.

Hope you both have a good day x

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 02/06/2017 22:08

Evening! Been thinking about you and your friend a lot today, Sassy. I agree that all you can do is just be there for her, for whatever she needs.

So my day of 'freedom' hasn't exactly gone to plan. My throat started feeling sore yesterday evening and I started to feel achy. I was up most of the night feeling shivery and shaky and hurting all over. Eventually at around 2.30am I went downstairs and took some cold and flu stuff. Still didn't get to sleep until 4 and then woke up at 7. DH and DS1 have gone down to Exeter and DD1 has gone to stay with my parents for a couple of days, so I've had to look after both babies by myself. Oh well! At least now I'm sat on the sofa watching my programmes!

Hope you both had an okay day. Catch you tomorrow x

Oh no Malcolm poor you, especially on your one-in-a-million Fri night to yourself! Hope you feel much better soon!

Have had a wonderful day with DD. We had a lovely lunch out and then big old yomp along the coast and just had a giggle together. Bless her though her hay fever has kicked in big time today so been putting drops in her eyes etc as they are v itchy and sore this eve. But loved our day today 😊

Not sure when my friend will head back but yes, just need to be there to listen etc. Her sis gets married in a few weeks so that's going to be really bittersweet now.

Anyway enjoy your boxsets and hope you feel better in the morn. EDBD hope you've had a good day? I'm off to bed as shattered. Night both x

SassynSane · 03/06/2017 08:09

Morning Brew Have woken with headache still lingering. Hoping it shifts soon. Lovely sunny day. Any nice plans? Not sure about this end though will be out and about in it.

Hope you're feeling a bit better today Malcolm?

Have a good Saturday both! Smile

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 03/06/2017 08:45

Morning.

I'm joining you on the headache front, Sassy. Had an awful night's sleep, achy and shivery and so flipping cold, even with an extra blanket on - and my room was 24 degrees! Throat is really, really sore. Am quite fed up, actually!

Anyway I'm going to have a nice hot shower and see if that helps. DH and DS1 won't be back until around 7.30/8, so that means I can't stay in bed as I need to sort out the children. Typical timing, isn't it?!!!

Hey ho, never mind, worse things happen at sea and all that! Talking of the sea... Glad you had a nice day yesterday, Sassy - your walk sounds gorgeous! I'm ever so jealous that you're near enough to the sea to be able to go there for a walk. I'm about as far from the sea as it's possible to get!

Right, best get up, even though what I'd really like to do is stay in bed!!!

Have a lovely day.

Hugs, painkillers, tea and sympathy virtually sent Malcolm, hope you feel better soon.

Yep, v lucky to be so close to the sea. Lovely to be by it to restore balance ...oh and for the ice cream of course 🍨 Smile

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 03/06/2017 18:13

Had creamy peppercorn chicken with sautéed potatoes for lunch, ham gratin for supper, putting DS2 to bed, DD's going straight afterwards. 🍗😴

SassynSane · 03/06/2017 19:16

Evening EDBD! For once I can rival you on the supper front...had chicken cooked in BBQ sauce, crushed new potatoes with mint and parsley from the garden, corn on the cob and salad. Was lush. DD high-fived me! Grin

Hope you've both had a good day. Had very chilled one this end. Pottered around this morn and then went and did a bit of shopping this aft. On the Wine now so rounding the day off nicely. Thankfully headache disappeared by lunchtime.

Hope you're feeling better Malcolm and DS1/DH had good time in Exeter?

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 03/06/2017 20:20

I'm going to demand a high five from my 2 tomorrow! 😆

In bed now. 😴

SassynSane · 03/06/2017 20:21

I know, I am treasuring my high-five 😂

SassynSane · 03/06/2017 20:22

Sleep well EDBD x

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 03/06/2017 23:41

Gosh, you guys can come and cook for me anytime!

Started to feel progressively better as the day went on, I felt like death warmed up this morning, but by this evening I felt almost human again!

DH and DS1 are back from Exeter, DS1 seems really enthusiastic, which is rare, for him, at least as far as school is concerned! 😂 We've had a good old chat about it, he's still undecided which course he wants to do (between Politics and Modern Languages) but they do offer a combined honours there where he can pretty much choose what combination/ratio of subjects he wants to do, which is appealing to him. There's also the prospect of a year away working or teaching in a foreign country, which he seems really excited about. DH was also really impressed by the whole thing.

They've still got Open Days at Warwick, Birmingham, Durham, Kent and St Andrews to go to, so it'll be interesting to see how they compare.

It's starting to seem a bit real now. This time next year DS1 will be about to fly the nest...😥

Just had a news alert pop up to say there's been a major incident at London Bridge. Bloody hell. I hope everyone is okay.

OP posts:
SassynSane · 03/06/2017 23:51

It's bad Malcolm...there are 3 incidents going on. London Bridge. Borough Market. Vauxhall. Watching on BBC1 news. On thread on chat and some posters can't get hold of friends and family! Sad

Glad you're feeling better and glad DS1 enjoyed his visit. I went to Birmingham Uni, am sure he'll be impressed...but then am biased Wink

SassynSane · 04/06/2017 08:16

Morning.

Was up until the early hours watching the news. Horrible. I hope everyone you know EDBD is safe? I don't know what needs to happen but something does because this is just awful. It feels like we're constantly waiting for the next thing to take place. My heart goes out to everyone affected last night and to our incredible emergency services for the way they responded Flowers

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 04/06/2017 08:25

Ah, crap. Seen the news this morning.

One thing I will say is how bloody lucky we are to have such amazing emergency services and how grateful I am for what they do, not just in situations like this, but every day.

OP posts:
SassynSane · 04/06/2017 08:28

I agree wholeheartedly Malcolm

I've just told DD about it....I'd rather she hear it from me rather than the playground tomorrow ....her first response? "I'm so pleased it was just 6 people that died this time mummy", she also wanted to know if any children had been hurt. She's 8yrs old. She shouldn't have to think like this Sad

SassynSane · 04/06/2017 19:16

Currently watching the One Love Manchester gig on BBC1...Take That are on. I hope everyone there has an amazing night Flowers

all the stars are coming out tonight, they're lighting up the sky tonight, for you, for you Smile

EvilDoctorBallerinaDuck · 04/06/2017 20:26

Thank goodness for Facebook Safety Check! All my Facebook friends are safe.

Went to McDonald's for our traditional day before school breakfast, DS2 had a bacon roll meal, DD just had a bacon roll, I had a bacon, egg and cheese bagel meal, had chicken breasts in BBQ sauce with potato wedges for lunch, had steak hash with beer gravy for supper, all in bed now. 🍗🍺😴

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 04/06/2017 21:03

Really glad your friends are okay, EDBD. A few of mine used the Facebook thing as well, it's a really good idea.

Sassy, your DD's words have just brought a tear to my eye. I had a chat with DD2 about it this morning, she saw me watching the news. She couldn't understand why. And when I tried to explain it, I just couldn't. Words did actually fail me.

I'm watching the concert, too. Katy Perry is singing Roar at the moment, it's one of my and my DD's favourite songs. I think that's all we can do, really. Just keep roaring out against terror and evil. And maybe one day the love and compassion will win. I don't think I've expressed myself very well really!

#I❤mcr #I❤ldn #wewillneverletthebastardswin!

Glad all those you love are safe EDBD!

I know Malcolm, it has been difficult to find the words. DD and I chatted about it this afternoon and DD has a solution, "mummy, we need to find all the bad people and we need to lock them all in prison so they can't do bad things, or hurt anyone else"....You know what? Out of the mouths of babes....

Hugs to you both xx
