Hi, you two!
Been rather a mixed weekend, to be honest. I don't know WHAT I did to my back yesterday, but as I was getting DS2 out of his highchair after breakfast, I felt it go and then, my God! It was like the worst kind of cramp x1000 right in the middle of my back, going round to the sides. I couldn't stand, I couldn't walk, I was literally in tears with it, it was so painful it made me feel sick.
I took two high strength ibuprofen and then an hour or so later, two of my strong migraine medication (doesn't contain ibuprofen so safe to take together) and it slowly got to the point where I could move again, but it was really sore all day. Definitely muscular, some kind of spasm. Was horrible! I managed to get some sleep and today it's been fine, although I can still feel it there, iykwim!
But today has been lovely. We had a BBQ in our garden and my parents came over. DH made homemade lamb and beef sliders, we had barbecued corn on the cob, veggie kebabs and asparagus wrapped in prosciutto (got to thank my friends at Friday night's BBQ for that idea!). I made a potato salad and a pasta salad. It was delicious, although I got full really quickly because it was so flipping hot!
Then it took me nearly an hour to clear everything up afterwards, including mopping the dining room floor because it looked like the two youngest had had a food fight in there!
My mum made homemade raspberry pavlova for pudding. It was bloody lovely.
However, my room temp is now just under 29 degrees, even though we kept the blinds shut to keep out the sun and have got the fan going! Dread to think how hot your house is, Sassy!
Re the sleepover, it's such a good idea. It cost £15 and you had to pay when you sent back the form asking for a place. I think there were 50 spaces available on a first come, first served basis. Children had to bring a sleeping mat/air mattress, sleeping bag and pillow. Parents were asked to inflate mattresses when dropping off. No electronic devices allowed whatsoever, or sweets/snacks. Included in the price was Dinner, which this time was Dominoes Pizza (DD2 doesn't eat cheese, so I provided a packed tea for her, at the Chair's request). There was some kind of a chocolate pudding affair.
Drop off was at 7pm, children had to be signed in (and then out again at pick up) with a contact number written next to their name.
There were at least two teachers who had volunteered to sleep over, as well as several PTA members.
The children watched a film (Sing) and were given popcorn and glowsticks to wave about.
In the morning, they had breakfast and then we collected at 8am.
I don't know how much profit is made, but the kids absolutely LOVE it! I'm happy to ask my PTA Chair if I can pass her details on to you, Sassy, if you like? She only lives a couple of doors away from me!
I also hope your DD hasn't suffered too much today. It sounds utterly horrendous, poor thing. Is there anything stronger the GP can give her at all? Or maybe a trial of a small dose of steroids over a longer term period? (Which was one of the things DD2 was given by Great Ormond Street when she was seeing a consultant about potential allergies/intolerances, although these were food related and not of the anaphylactic sort). Feel free to tell me to butt out and I'm certainly not trying to teach you how to suck eggs! 🐣🥚
Hope your day was good too, EDBD - how's ED'sLad doing?
Anyway, I'm off to melt sleep now. Catch you both tomorrow!
