Thanks Nickel, link works and have just voted for Woolly Hugs Smile

MrsDilligaf · 19/02/2017 19:32

I've voted for Woolly Hugs and begged all my FB friends to do the same.

Malcom I am now an avid knitter. I have taught myself over the last few weeks, and I really do sit, knit and have a little think about how powerful a hug can be. My squares are wonky, and nowhere near as wonderful as some but I love my new hobby.

I'm just sad that something so joyful to me has come about because of someone else's immense pain

BathshebaDarkstone · 19/02/2017 22:19

Sassy that sounds lovely!

Ada I've voted!

BathshebaDarkstone · 19/02/2017 22:27

Went to a Tolkien Society meeting in the Wetherspoons pub at Putney Bridge, I had breaded Brie with cranberry sauce, DD had bangers, mash and beans, DS2 had fish, chips and peas, the DC had ice cream with chocolate sauce for pudding, DD also had toffee sauce, back home, put DS2 straight to bed, DD had 30 minutes playing Terraria on her tablet then bed, then I came to bed. I made DS2's snack for Lego creations club this morning and got uniforms out while he was getting ready for bed. Grin

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 19/02/2017 23:02

MrsD I agree entirely with your sentiment. One of my squares is truly..um..unique(!) but it was made with love and thought for the final recipient. That's an amazing legacy for Zombie to have left and she is still bringing people together and inspiring joy and love even though she's now partying hard up there.

Bath, the Tolkien Society meet sounds really interesting. The Hobbit was the first 'proper' book I ever read all by myself. My mum was reading it to me for a bedtime story and I couldn't wait to see what happened next, so I snuck a read after lights out. I was so hooked, I asked if I could read it myself instead of it being read to me. When I had finished it, I went on to The Lord of the Rings. I actually had Tolkien calendars in my room as I was growing up!

The ice-cream also sounds good!

Sassy, how are you feeling? I have to say, I think I may be coming down with the lurgy too - I've had a stuffy nose and Woolly head all day and am feeling decidedly bleurgh tonight, quite nauseous too. I'll stay away from M&S, shall I?!

Back to the grindstone tomorrow, good luck all!

BathshebaDarkstone · 19/02/2017 23:07

Malcolm ah yes, Tolkien and ice cream, who could ask for anything more! Grin

I'll reply properly tomorrow, my phone's about to die and I should really get some sleep!

BathshebaDarkstone · 20/02/2017 05:17

Morning! Drinking coffee and watching BBC world news. GrinBrew

Go to www.tolkiensociety.org Malcolm. There are local groups all over the country. Smile

SassynSane · 20/02/2017 07:28

Morning Brew

I am finally feeling a bit more human thanks Malcolm. Took until yesterday afternoon and I first started feeling a bit weird last Weds aft, so I sincerely hope you don't have the same thing - it literally incapacitated me....um, yes, stay away from rich food, M&S or otherwise Wink Hope you're ok?

Right....time to gear myself up for the school cannonball run! Hope everyone has a good morning 😊

BathshebaDarkstone · 20/02/2017 09:47

Glad you're better Sassy, get well soon Malcolm

Dropped the DC off, in the Sainsbury's café having my large caramel latte and my big breakfast sandwich. GrinBrew

SassynSane · 20/02/2017 10:59

Bath drooling over your caramel latté....wondering if stomach ready for one? Grin

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 20/02/2017 11:19

Morning! My tummy has been rather delicate shall we say, overnight and this morning. Also feeling rather nauseous. But not ill, ill if that makes sense?!

Really annoyingly, today was the first time I was meant to give blood since DS2 was born last year. Had to ring up and rearrange - now I have to go to a market town that is further away and with flipping awful parking instead of 5 mins down the road! Angry And it's not until April. Oh well.

Glad you're feeling better, Sassy. Hope you're not too exhausted being back at work.

Bath, I would usually join you in spirit with the caramel latte, etc however today I'll think I'll stay away if you don't mind?!

Have a good day, everyone.

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 20/02/2017 11:20

PS Thanks for the Tolkien Society info, Bath. I'll look them up.

SassynSane · 20/02/2017 14:54

Are you feeling any better Malcolm? Shame about missing the blood donation too! Not working today thankfully, back in on Weds. Spent all day catching up on all the domestic stuff that built up whilst I was ill so no resting up, but will grab that latte when I do drama run later Smile Right....almost time for school run...again...when's Easter??! Grin

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 20/02/2017 16:52

Still feeling a bit delicate but all seems to have settled down now, thank goodness! Hoping to be fully fighting fit tomorrow.

Now off to do tea before DD2 has Brownies. It's her birthday tomorrow as well, so I need to blow up some balloons and put up some banners after she's gone to bed, or she'll never forgive me!

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 20/02/2017 16:53

PS Easter is around five weeks' time, Sassy!!! Grin

Fiderer · 20/02/2017 17:08

Malcolm Thought Easter is mid-April this year. That's at least a billion weeks away. You got my hopes up there. Unless the Brexit country has decided on a new date. We get no half term here - well 2 measly days for Carnival next week.

I was also lurgified at the weekend with D&V and oh the relief when you can eat & sleep.

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 20/02/2017 17:57

Bugger. I got it wrong. It's seven weeks!!! 😫You were right, Fid.

Good Friday is actually DD1's birthday this year - last year was one of the only times that we can remember when she's had to go to school. She was not impressed!

Hope you're feeling better now, Fid. I thought I was, but some gurgling in my tummy has just led me to find out that I'm definitely not. I still feel okay in myself though, just a bit tired out, as you are when you've got an upset tum. Praying that the children (well, the babies, really) escape whatever this is.

SassynSane · 20/02/2017 18:03

Just looked up dates here and 7 weeks this term until we break up for Easter....Confused Hope the balloon blowing goes well later Malcolm & glad to hear you're feeling a bit better.....maybe use a pump though...virus filled balloon anyone? Grin

I share your relief Fid!

Hope everyone's Monday has been ok.

SassynSane · 20/02/2017 18:06

X post Malcolm....def use a pump to blow up the balloons Grin and hope the, ahem, gurgling, settles down soon x

BathshebaDarkstone · 20/02/2017 22:14

Sassy caramel lattes are the dog's bollocks. I wish I knew who decided that that meant a really great thing! ConfusedGrin

Sorry to hear you're still feeling shit Malcolm. Re the Tolkien Society, our local group are mostly old bastards, they used to send out a list of local groups to new members, I hope they still do. Smile

Have done a wash, found underwear for the DC, made DD's snack for singing club tomorrow, in bed now.

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 20/02/2017 22:22

Sassy, I delegated balloon blowing up to DS1 and DD1!

Had a jacket potato for dinner as I hadn't really eaten. It was very nice. I do love a good jacket!

Hoping a good night's sleep will sort me out.

Bath, I chuckled at the description of the old bastards!!! I can imagine. I suspect I probably don't know enough about the books (other than enjoying them over the years) to be able to hold any semblance of a decent conversation on the subject, but the only way I can remedy that is to find out more about them! Which I intend do to.

Right, I'm off to try and get some sleep. Night, all!

SassynSane · 20/02/2017 23:03

Bath I actually used the "Dog's" expression earlier in a message to someone Grin It was about purple carrots....how I have got to my age and never tried them before I do not know. Had some with dinner & even DD who can be a bit circumspect when it comes to veg, wolfed them down. They are bloody gorgeous!

Malcolm glad you delegated the balloons! Hope potato and sleep sort you out and tomorrow is less gurgly!

Just watching end of Dirty Dancing on tv....nobody puts Baby in a corner! Wink

Night everyone.

BathshebaDarkstone · 21/02/2017 04:00

Why am I awake? Confused

Malcolm they're the same people who were members when I joined at 21 ( I think, or maybe younger). All very MC and academic. I was brought up MC but DH is WC and has a WC income, I'm not remotely academic. Glad you managed to eat.

Sassy "the dog's bollocks" is an odd expression! Grin Do purple carrots taste different from orange carrots?

MalcolmTuckersOmniShambles · 21/02/2017 07:12

Well, I'm awake and not feeling too bad, fingers crossed!

Hoping that normal service will resume today.

DD2 loves the (non-virus filled) balloons - she's yet to see the bunting that's hung up all around the family room!

Hoping everyone else has a good day.

SassynSane · 21/02/2017 07:19

Morning all Brew

Indeed they do Bath - they have a really lovely sweet flavour that is much stronger than their rather bland orange cousin....clearly after my very first tasting I have become a carrot connoisseur! Grin By the way, think you need an extra shot in your morning latte after your early start!

Hope everyone ok today? How's your tummy Malcolm?
