People who post on these - you are aware that your posts can be read by people who aren't "on" your threads, right?

Because some of you are pretty offensive and dim otherwise.

OP posts:

Hunker's post (the main bit)

"I just wanted to say that if there were mums on this thread who didn't feel their babies were ready for food, there's no need to give it to them till they're quite a bit older. I know that often women feel pressured into weaning early and I wanted to lend a bit of support to those who weren't ready, as I know how "in-yer-face" it can get as soon as your baby hits four months."

I think that is polite.

i'll tell u what is wrong cod, the postnatal group i am on has been named so solids crew, just because of the name a few people came onto it lecturing- do not wean your baby till 6months blah blah blah the WHO says this, the WHO says that, etc.
do people really think we dont know all this info already? it is up 2 us when we wean r babies fgs, & a lot of people didn't appreciate being told what to do, but fair enough that was the end of it, but then this thread was started & it has really pissed me off! why do people find it funny 2 slag people off all the time? & to make stupid little comments like "the fluffy threads" & "too scared to venture out" etc!

MrsBadger · 26/02/2007 11:30

It's like well-meaning advice from anyone (friends, HV, MIL) you say 'how interesting, thank you' then take it or not as you choose.

No need to take offence that the advice was given.

Agree foxinsocks. I would love to exclude ante and post natal threads, because seemingly they are not welcoming to anyone who isn't part of the exclusive crowd on that particular one.

I find it highly ironic that MNers are being accused of being cliquey/school-like by someone who has told everyone else to get off 'our thread' "your views are not welcome" and "mind your own business."

However, I don't really want to enter the fray and get my head blown off either. But if this was all triggered by hunker's very tame comment on the 'solids' p/n thread, then I just can't understand the big reaction.

I take it as my duty to point out what the WHO says about weaning. And will do wherever I please.

God I hate text speak.

I love the postnatal threads - its my place to go and ramble about my day to day life. I can whinge about problems without having to give a whole history, I can bounce about good stuff which would seem trivial to other people... but really don't care who reads it or comments on it. (Except for one very hormonal day when it seemed a big issue ... are you ladies hormonal?)
