Glad the electric blanket was good Bads.

Wine Chocolate [Aramis] for LetUs.

Yes, WW it is the carols tonight. Op Smile haven't announced who is speaking this year, but a Burketeer asked them if Tom was going and they said not, no doubt due to work commitments. I would have gone otherwise. I think that certainwenches may be on the lookout for him though. Wink

FancyFancy · 01/12/2016 22:21

Comtess · 01/12/2016 22:49

Ooooh. Wenches on the prowl! Go Helen!

Good Intel Apes- I thought the carols were always a bit later on although clearly 1) Tom's decided he can't turn up without being mobbed by a crowd. 2) I'm in warm and sunny Australia 😎😆. 28 degrees and sunny this morning Wenches. I've been for a run and I'm now just off to the shops to finish getting stuff organised for my boy coming over.

I'm shopping for a suitable 'hot Christmas' outfit. I need to look hot and it will be hot 😉😄.

Will report in later.

Morning wenches Smile TFIF WineWine

Fancy not sure about the eye, but we are working quite well together with the eye gel and she's fine otherwise, eating like a horse and playing like a kitten.

Glad you're feeling better LetusSmile

Have fun at IKEA BadsSmile

No staying at Chateau FancyShock I was imagining you all having pillow fights, drinking lots of wine and perving over TM!

I had the weirdest dream last night, it involved me getting lost in a hospital where I was taking Sigrid for a checkup, me getting out of the loo with my knickers at kneehight without realising it and getting laughed at and Sigrid puking in the transport box Confused

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/12/2016 10:28

Morning all

Bit of a long day yesterday, but great fun (and I got home two hours before Elk, so can't complain overly, esp since DH got up with DS at 6:30 and sorted breakfast)

Comtess - I thin the carols were early this year, but I don't know when they've been on previous years so I'd have thought Tom must be due a well earned rest from interacting with fans - if you think that did ran the gauntlet every night at RTBH and most nights at DBS... if must be bloody exhausting. I heard from another source that they saw some fans actually, LITERALLY run after him when he was trying to make a getaway from DBS one night Shock I mean, FFS.... I had visions of him at sitting home with his feet up feeling deeply relieved to have avoided the bullet this year, so to speak. (I also had other visions of him, but there was no taxi involved and our wonderful rail service is certainly not the Orient Express either Wink )

LetUs - glad you're feeling better now - ditto for Sigrid. I need to work and catch up on yesterday's email backlog... (and get the washing out of the machine etc etc)

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 02/12/2016 11:04

They ran after him??? Shock Poor Tom! And such embarassing behaviour. He probably needs an helicopter on the roof in the future.

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 02/12/2016 11:32

What do you think of this dress? I'm thinking I would shorten it and wear it with a belt.
www.bonprix.se/produkt/must-have-lang-chiffongklaenning-svart-moenstrad-966056/?bundle=10363747&wishlistItemIdShown=546491986

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/12/2016 11:37

I'm thinking that, as it is, the dress looks like a strange semi-transparent dressing gown. Your idea of shortening it would work much better.

Then again I have no fashion sense, so for goodness sake don't rely on my opinion Grin

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 02/12/2016 12:01

I'm thinking knee lenght with a belt and boots.

ApricotCrush · 02/12/2016 12:59

Hello all.

Pleased to hear LetUs is on the mend and Sigrid is co-operating.

Glad you had a good time Helen. The carols are usually around the 16th, and there are two of them, but only one this year. Who were the speakers? Yes, poor Tom. He's just too nice, and people take advantage of him.

Nice dress WW, but your idea is better than full length.

The blog is finished!!! But I'll probably spend more time playing around with it. Hmm

www.followingthemusketeers.com

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/12/2016 13:26

hurrah for blog. Will read it when I've finished the current spreadsheet. (Next year then, at my current productivity rates!)

Speakers were Emma Crosby, Steve Shepherd and Matt Johnson - so a newsreader-I-have-never-heard-of and an actor-I-have-never-heard-of and a television personality/presenter-who-I-have-never-heard-of (who dropped out at last minute). Also one of the choirs changed I think, but they were all very good - treblemakers were fab, plus a gospel choir and a children's choir doing a very enthusiastic rendition of 12 days of Christmas.
The actor read a humourous letter from Joseph to 'Club Corinthians 18-30' complaining about the standard of accommodation at the 'City of David' residence. The other readings were straight poem/prose type things.

For those who want to imagine themselves on SisterHelen & Elk's big day out, the highlights included:

  • relaxed browsing round shops without worrying about small people getting bored/breaking things/whining
  • Hot chocolate with whipped creme at Cafe Verganno (Charing Cross Road) - OMG!!! Just the best ever.
  • Christmas market stalls on the South Bank - lots of things you didn't know you needed, to buy as presents for people who don't need them either.
  • A wench failing to make a cashpoint work (technology fail) and giving up in despair
  • An emergency trip to Boots for 'party feet' inserts due to inappropriate footware
  • A wench dipping her scarf into her plate of pasta when we stopped for food (obvs. saving food for later)
  • WenchA pointing out that WenchB was about to set fire to her carol sheet because she was holding it over her lighted candle (the Carols really were by candle-light)
  • Tom Burke sitting next to us in our pew.

NB - one of the above didn't happen, I'll leave you to guess which Wink

ApricotCrush · 02/12/2016 13:59

Sounds fabulous, typical wench day out. Grin

I've never heard of any of them either. That's probably why they didn't announce who was going to be there. Shame really, they usually have some well known personages.

I've still got candle grease on a pair of trousers from last year. It's amazing they don't set the church on fire!

I can't possibly guess which one wasn't true. Confused

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 02/12/2016 14:22

Grin Apricot candle wax comes out quite nicely if you put kitchen roll either side of the fabric and then iron it - the wax melts out of your clothes and into the kitchen roll. (I had to do that this morning before sticking my clothes in the wash)

Oh - we also went into the Flying Horse (aka 'The Tottenham') for a drink when we went to Tottenham Court Road tube station and found ourselves literally over the road from it. And there was a visit to the National Portrait gallery for toilets that were free (and naice)
