DS is sick, what would a good Italian mum cook for him? First time he is properly sick, I need to cook him something, even if he might not eat it...

Rosa what do you use as a mosquito repellant? Ds gets bitten to death when we go down south. Very hot in London too. Fantastico.

franca70 · 23/05/2007 13:35

It's dd's 3rd birthday today!
and it's hot here as well.
mosquitos, haven't discovered a 100% effective repellent yet... My mum tells me it's 34 degress in Milano... I'm really afraid that Italy is turning into a desert for real.

mediterraneo · 23/05/2007 13:57

franca70 · 23/05/2007 14:06

franca70 · 23/05/2007 14:06

oh, sorry you meant the temperature. Yes it's apparently 34 degrees in Milan. scary.

mediterraneo · 23/05/2007 16:46

MaryP0p1 · 23/05/2007 17:26

Hi everyone, Pippi sorry to hear about the stressful move. How is everybody?

franca70 · 23/05/2007 17:43

ciao Marypop how are things in le marche?
Yes I'm hoping that it's turning into Ibiza... however, it's not going to be immediate, it was chilly until yesterday.
Pippi, that's sweet (your dh missing dd, that is).

MaryP0p1 · 23/05/2007 17:58

Bloody hot at the mo actually. School finishes in 3 weeks and I can't wait. I finish next week, got 100+ school reports and a full immersion course to organise to do by next week, so running around a bit.

franca70 · 23/05/2007 18:01

arg school reports. I don't envy you marypop . Have you got the time to go for a nuotata?

mediterraneo · 23/05/2007 20:35

12 degrees at the weekend apparently! che pppalle!

franca70 · 23/05/2007 20:44

12 degrees, here? Oh no!

PippiLangstrump · 24/05/2007 09:48

'morning all!

don't know about weekend but it looks like today is going to be a furnace in london.... EVVIVA!!!

what's your plan for the day then?

franca70 · 24/05/2007 10:01

I'm stuck at home, as finally they are building up again the partition wall that fell months ago. I'm also expecting an engineer for a blocked downpipie.
I should also: work a bit, do ironing, tidy up in general... but as usaul I'm wasting time on mn!
what are you doing today? are you at work?

PippiLangstrump · 24/05/2007 10:10

no not working today! have got no chores to do either as cleaner comes on wednesdays and today is the only day the house looks halfway decent!

might go to hyde park with DD to the Diana memorial as kids like to splash in it and DD loves it. If I stay at home doing nothing I am going to bang my head on the wall due to house-move business. I hope we'll never have to do this again! It's taking years off me.

I have started to enjoy work again due to change of dep which is good.

What happened to your partition wall? Is it a house you live in?

Ah tell me are properties in Salina expensive?

PippiLangstrump · 24/05/2007 10:18

mannaggia mannaggina the weather is changing... forget the park and the car is not working... looks like I might have to bang my head on the wall after all!

mediterraneo · 24/05/2007 10:28

E' nuvoloso, tutto all'improvviso! Dopo la scuola andiamo a fare un picknick qui a Victoria Park. Pippi sei mai stata al parco di Peter Pan a Kensington GDNS, c'e' una nave da pirata, paddling pools, etc. very nice. Hope it isn't going to rain. Have no work to do, only chores but will wait for ds to be round. Going to read a bit before the school run!

mediterraneo · 24/05/2007 10:29

Pippi i thought you had given your job up, and become a housewife. Che e' successo?

PippiLangstrump · 24/05/2007 10:34

ciao med! Hai visto che macello con il tempo?? AArghh! maybe we'll go to Clissold park instead as it's closer and won't be a disaster if it rains.

Do you know I have been looking for the peter pan bit many times and could never find it! how useless of me!!!! I really want to take DD there and everytime I keep walking miles and ot getting there. Which end is it?

I was temted to leave work but it is much wiser for me to stay to get another maternity leave and then see. It'll be stupid not to hang on for a few (hopefully) months more as mat leave offered is very good. do not remember if you are working med.

mediterraneo · 24/05/2007 10:59

The P Pan park is very close to Queensway tube. I had to ask because I couldn't find it. It is actually called the Diana Park, or something like that.
No, don't work. Do some translations and private lessons, but basically I am housewife. I love it! Pity about not having lots of spare cash. Having said that we are about to go on holiday to spain and italy, staying with friends so won't be too expensive, booked the flights in december. Are you trying to get pregnant then? We have postponed, still feel depressed about the miscarriage.

PippiLangstrump · 24/05/2007 11:09

I can imagine how you feel. where you trying at the time? have you thought on when you might want to try again? bestfriend n1 had this over two years ago and could not try again. now they would but I think they are now very scared. bestfriendn2 did not wait at all and got pregnant super quick and they now have a DS.
It need to feel right for you but do not let fear guide your decision.

We have just started over a month ago. Ideally I had it planned to start after the holiday (going to calabria in june) but I am leaving it to the gods TBH.

generally I like working p/t. When the job is okay I would not change my position at all, contrary to what some people have said I think it is the best of both worlds, at least for me, that is. sometimes though I think I'd love to be a SAHM. I would hate to be working FT so I hope I will not have to.

mediterraneo · 24/05/2007 11:14

Yes, we were trying, got pregnant immediately which was nice. I think it is a hormonal depression, the gp recommended waiting a bit to get my hormones back together, otherwise i go from feeling up, to feeling down , to feeling up again a bit too quickly. Also don't want to be pregnant during the holiday. I would like an autumn baby....but no point in planning....Have a friend who had 10 miscarriages, never thought it would happen to me....
Full time work must be stressfull, i have friends who have to work full time and they complain that they never see the children, only 1 hour in the am and 1 hour at night. Very sad. I think we are very lucky from that point of view.

PippiLangstrump · 24/05/2007 11:27

damn! wrote the whole post and then deleted by mistake.

your GP's advice sounds wise actually. hormone imbalance is a killer I think. I dread to think of these few months after the birth when you feel possessed by the devil! (or is it just me?). If this is how you feel at the moment then yes it is wise to wait.

and yes we are lucky I think about having the choice - I'll never tire of saying that!

DD has been sleeping for so long... what's going on? I am\ not used to all this 'spare' time'!
