DS is sick, what would a good Italian mum cook for him? First time he is properly sick, I need to cook him something, even if he might not eat it...

No its still stange to hear no Italian voices in town. It certainly makes me double take when I hear them. Bonus for me though because I'm the only English person most people know and they all know I teach so works nots so difficult to come by plus I can usually arrange them around the kids.

I can image it being difficut, my friend's inlaws live in Padova. We stayed with a while ago to have a look around venice. Love to go again but not when there are tourists.

Yes small world. Marotta where's my dog's 'girlfriend' lives. We're waiting to hear weather he's a pround father yet or we have to wait till next season.

Rosa, I take it from 'ghost' not good memories then!

franca70 · 24/04/2007 14:35

hi, the "holidays" went well. San Francisco is a beautiful city, and the food is fantastic. Back in Italy, as you know, was freakingly hot, which we really enjoyed. We went with friends to the seaside, and ds swam in the sea!
Marypop, I hope your dog is going to become father of healthy marottese puppies. I must have missed this, why are you living in that part of the world? (Which I actually love). I gather you are acquainted with the joys of Merendero piadine...

MaryP0p1 · 24/04/2007 16:57

We've beeen holidaying here fore years and decided to try soemthing new. Best thing we ever did I think but only been here 2 years so maybe a few years down the line we'll be a bit jaded.
BTW had piadini for lunch on the beach this PM, mmmmm. Whats your favourite filling? Come to mention it there is a healthy black market for piadini in Essex whenever my DH has to go back for business, that and moretta.

Rosa5 · 24/04/2007 17:42

Ghost of the male kind to be honest . Its taken me years to erase that sentimental part of my life love DH to bits and don't fancy a walk down memory lane.
Franca agree with the weather its gone from mild to hot in such a short time. We are all in a flap over this area for the Di longhi factory that exploded over Treviso. Even though they said the cloud went North they are advising not to eat veg /let children play in open grass areas so went to look at salad I have and its all from that area. Checked with butcher and they are now getting meat from another area ( how true is that??)So am now resorting to frozenveg ! Scary this as nobody is giving out any concrete info about what was exactly in the toxic cloud !

franca70 · 24/04/2007 17:52

Le Marche is a lovely part of Italy... I also like senigallia ( a few great restaurants around there too, or so I'm told... I used to eat with the fishermen in Marotta, as they used to be my dad's friends).
My fav filling has to be erbe e lonza.
Gosh rosa, I didn't realize the situation with de longhi was so serious! no insalata trevigiana for a while then! Is it still so warm? T
My mother in law went to venice for a few days in february, she loved it, she saw children outside a primary school. One dad ask his son: "would you like to walk back home or would you rather take the boat?". She found it fascinating.

Buongiorno a tutte - come si sta bene con il sole! Bentornata Franca. Sto cercando di usare meno mumsnet in questo periodo, e' troppo addictive.

franca70 · 25/04/2007 17:59

how are things?
califrau how was the posh wedding?

mediterraneo · 26/04/2007 10:05

Io sto bene, un po' di depressione post miscarriage, sto pensando di non fare piu bimbi e concentrarmi su una carriera. L'idea di passare altri 3 anni con un bimbo mi riempe di panico, bah vedremo.

PippiLangstrump · 26/04/2007 11:57

buongiorno.
no med don't leave us and try again. we can be in it together.
I had a false alarm this month so it might be a feb/march baby instead.
oh I cannot wait.

DH and I cannot do things in half: trying for a baby, selling/buying house, moving, DH having an operation, going on hoilday... all in the spac of two months. Can't call us lazy!

franca70 · 26/04/2007 13:20

med . I think it's "normal" to feel depressed after a miscarriage, and it's important for you to grieve. Take your time, but don't leave us, we can always tak some bevilacqua .
Pippi, gosh you are a multi-tasker! Hope your dh's operation is nothing too serious.
Meanwhile the franca household is seriously dreaming of going back to Italy, but so far there's no sign of a job for dh, so we stay put in devon, which global-warmingwise is much safer...

PippiLangstrump · 26/04/2007 18:00

that is good news franca isn't it? it might not be asap but it is at least in the cards for sooner rather than later. speriamo bene. Is DH as happy as you to go back?

only a hernia operation... which I am sure will reduced him to a demanding whiny baby

med, [hugs]

franca I meant to ask you. How did you manage to take DC off school for that long? are they okay about it?

franca70 · 26/04/2007 18:13

, men!!! Dh manage to put such a miserable face, when he's not well...
Dh is actually the one who really wants to move!
Easter holidays here were from the 5th to the 24th of April, so he only missed 3 days and the school gave us permission (also, he is in reception).

franca70 · 26/04/2007 18:14

forgot to ask how's your dd. Bedtime back to normal?

PippiLangstrump · 26/04/2007 22:30

well not like it used to be but yes much much better.
before we just had to say bed time and she happily went. Now we need to read a story or two and if she's still awake when we get up to leave the room she cries. Not for long at all but still.

mediterraneo · 27/04/2007 10:12

Bedtimes have also changed with my ds - hewanders out of the room with excuses of wanting water or a combination of pee/poo. I don't mind, indulge him with the water and he does normally have to go to the toilet. My trick is that I start the bed time routine 10 mins earlier than usual which allows for his 10 mins of time wasting.
I never really realised i was meant to grieve for a miscarriage, but I think i have to. I had a chemical meltdown when my successive period came, felt really down in the dumps and unable to cope. Feel better now that i have rallied friends and family round for support. I won't try to get pregnant till I feel more together hormonally.

franca70 · 27/04/2007 14:57

Sounds like a really wise thing to do Med. Meanwhile I'll send you a hug. I'm told that there are many interesting exhibitions in London at the moment...

PippiLangstrump · 27/04/2007 19:56

I'm sure there are. don't worry, you won't see many of them even if you lived here...

Rosa5 · 27/04/2007 19:58

Sorry you feel down Med I am sure its normal sending you an abbraccio .

Pippi I admire you at least you are keeping busy hope your DH is a good paitent. We are house hunting at the mo but its all pretty expensive here.

My week went with dd falling off sofa and fracturing collar bone ( which I discovered after 4 doctors checked her over and said she is just a bit shaken)and her getting a gastric bug ( my guess fromn the hospital). So its been D+V all week and a sore shoulder. Hopefully she getting better now. I have aged 10 years.
