DS is sick, what would a good Italian mum cook for him? First time he is properly sick, I need to cook him something, even if he might not eat it...

califrau.
are you allergic to oranges?

Ellbell · 10/03/2007 20:35

OK... Looks like I'm gonna have to share the FAB story of my dh and his minestra di coglioni (???).

You need to know the background. Dh studied Italian, but is not... diciamo... a 'natural linguist'. So... he's in Italy talking to a group of Italian women and he's trying to tell them that he used to live on a farm with a load of agriculture students, where they used to eat various things that lived around the farm and occasionally got shot as vermin (squirrels etc.)

dh: E facevamo anche una buona minestra di coglioni.

italiane varie: Coglioni?

dh: Si' si'... coglioni.

italiane varie [shocked]: Ma... che tipo di coglioni?

dh [not understanding what all the fuss is about]: Coglioni normali. Grandi cosi' (con gesto di mezzo metro di grandezza). Coperti di peli morbidi....

And it's only when he sticks his front teeth out and puts his fingers to his head to make 'bunny ears' that they realise that he is talking about...

CONIGLI!

Bello, no?

Med how are you?
My flight to milan was cancelled so had to go back home con le pive nel sacco... very disappointed

LieselVentouse · 12/03/2007 12:32

Whys nobody speaking Italian

mediterraneo · 12/03/2007 13:36

Oh, you must have been looking forward to going to Italy without dcs, no? My trip to Brighton was cancelled as well, but had lovely weekend on the South Bank. My period is still late, about a week now. Strong cramps lasted 24 hours and then nothing. Still have pregnancy symptoms. Did another test yesterday and it was negative. I may have ovulated late, so maybe the hormone doesn't show, or it's a phantom pregancy. . Never heard of anyone though with a negative test being pregnant.Che ppppallle.

mediterraneo · 12/03/2007 13:36

Ciao LieselVentouse, ma cosa vuol dire il tuo nome? All'inizio pensavo che eri una troll.

LieselVentouse · 12/03/2007 13:44

perchè avete pensato ero un troll?

franca70 · 12/03/2007 15:09

ciao liesel, no, I didn't think that.
so, if you teach me spanish, I can teach you italian se tu mi insegni lo spagnolo, io ti insegno l'italiano!
Med, your symptoms are quite strange, I should say. Why don't you ring your surgery and see if you can have a blood test done there, to check the hormones?
yes, I was very looking forward to going to milan, I had my day planned, my brother and his wife would have picked me up from cadorna to have lunch together, then meet a friend and go shopping together, then have an aperitivo with my best friedn and his wife and then go to the wedding party.... grrrrrr.
nevermind, saturday were a beautiful day, we went to the seaside instead.

franca70 · 12/03/2007 15:10

Ah! yo lo hablo tambien, mujeres. I thought you were a troll because I don't know what your name means....
Will go to the surgery on Fri...do phantom pregnancies really exist?

franca70 · 12/03/2007 19:26

I don't know much about phantom pregnancy med... I hope they'll give you some answers at the surgery. (anyway, when I tested for dd the test was positive, then I did another test at the surgery, which came back inconclusive, and then a blood test confirmed the pregnancy. so insist on the blood test, which is more reliable)
hi califrau, quante lingue parli?

mediterraneo · 12/03/2007 19:35

Grazie Franca, that sounds like good advice. Today I feel very down and sluggish, put ds in bed at 645pm, as I have no energy at all. Ds didn't mind at ALL,so I might do it again . I wonder if my period is coming. bleah!

franca70 · 12/03/2007 19:43

I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling down. It's horrible not knowing what's going on, it's a bit like a limbo. Le tette, come ti sembrano? (scusa la domanda cosi' diretta).
6.45! well done, you are brave. Bedtime is at 8 here, I don't want anyone to wake up before 7.30...
