Our beautiful leather clad lovelies have hung up their pauldrons, wrapped their thighs around their wenches horses and rode hard for the border. There'll be no more snogging in cupboards, or noshing on the Queen...s awful cooking. But we're not sad...oh no, we can keep this nonsense going ad infinitum, and there's plenty to look forward to as the Swaggerers stagger on in post muskie oblivion.

So keep the Cardinals finger flowing, and help yourself to the complementary Hot Chilean Nuts.

Now....S1 Ep1 anyone??

Comtess · 25/09/2016 22:02

Hey wenches

Monday morning, ready to work! Actually looking forward to today, not least because we have a problem with the drain under the sink and so I'm making Mr C wait in for the plumber as have irrational fear of foreign creatures being involved and just don't want to be in!!!! Run away! Run away!!

Watched 'The Big Short' last night with ds3 all about financial crash. It's really very very good esp Steve Carell. Brad Pitt totes unsexy in it and looks like my old geography teacher in it. Basically a good film showing the utter fuckwittery of capitalism and the housing market, and made up money. Recommended.

Today we had massive Yorkshire puds with roast beef and gravy, mashed potatoes and greens. Made me feel homesick. I got a bit emotional washing up and then Mr C made me laugh by making ludicrous 'you'll always have all the Yorkshire you need' crassness. I pointed out it wasn't Yorkshire I missed, at which point he started murdering Ilkla moor loudly, I shouted 'FUCK OFF' really loudly at him just as nice neighbour rang the doorbell. She clearly had heard so we then had to do the 'just being silly hahaha' over jollyness thing. Awks Blush

Homework, in my experience just needs facing. I always encouraged mine to do it the day it was set and just get it done well. Incentives being food (tea and toast) whilst doing it, and instant praise when done. I always reminded them that it was all for their benefit not mine, but that if it was done to a high standard and on time, I would always look favourably on social stuff at the weekend. This always was enough to get them to do it on Friday when younger. Their old school had the 'show my homework' app so I always liked that I could quickly check what they had to do and deadlines just to nudge them too. I always found disappointment a better reaction than anger about quality.

Hel ouuuuccch about the bee sting on the head. Yowsers.

Happy birthday mini-Bads!!

Comtess · 25/09/2016 22:13

Sorry copied most of that in from last night without changing it. Mumsnet keeps not posting stuff and just having Whirly circle going forever so you're not sure if it's going or not.

FancyFancy · 25/09/2016 23:08

Evening wenches, in the middle of watching Poldark.

Sympathies re: the homework letus. I feel fortunate that my DC's schools were without mercy in years 6 & 7 as far as homework was concerned. None of the schools set that much, but they accepted no excuse for not doing it, or doing it late. Made my job much easier as a parent! I also tend to go with the disappointment tactic, although I'm sure both have been subjected to a rant about how it won't be me having to work my arse off for GCSE's because I've coasted for years when they've been overly annoying Blush

Fab rewatch commentary ww Smile

Badders123 · 26/09/2016 06:59

We miss you too my lover Flowers
Ds had a lovely day thank you Smile
It's my nephews b day on sat and we are going bowling Confused

I must watch that film comtesse - it's on Netflix now
Have a good day wenches X

LetUsPrey · 26/09/2016 08:06

Morning wenches.

Did you find out the problem with the plumbing Comtess? WE DO NOT NEED PICTURES!

Am doing the disappointed thing with DS1. Zero effect. Sigh.

Didn't watch Poldark last night as was just too tired so had an early night. Have woken up knackered so that worked.

Yy Badderz last week crawled by.

Have good days wenches x

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/09/2016 08:24

Oh dear god Badders!

Oh FFS. That^ was what I wrote last night and didn't post. Anyway, mooooooooooooooooooooooooorning all.

Ta muchly for running the bath LetUs the relaxation factor was somewhat ruined by DS deciding he needed a poo while I was trying to soak, and then he performed more magic tricks for me. I love him dearly and all that, but... bless him. Then he joined us me in bed at 2:10am [matchsticks] and proceeded to pin my arm down for the rest of the night while DH carried on sleeping. But it was very cute too, having my arm used as a substitute for Bear and being cuddled. Am just a bit tired this morning.

Homework was started on, but we seem to have 3x the amount of last week (not aided by the reappearance of the dreaded Maths Monkey.) Haven't seen Maths Monkey since year 1! WhyTAF has he reappeared now?! Come on wenches, what competitive parenting ideas can I use? We're going to do stuff with his SaturdayMorningSportingActivity which involved races and timings, but DS didn't win or move up a level, so not quite PA boasty enough, and I soooo want to take the piss out of the concept. I know - Maths Monkey can count the bottles of beer that Daddy got through on Sunday morning. About 30-40 I think. Of course, I don't need to say he was actually bottling up the homebrew rather than drinkig the stuff Wink And then we can estimate how quickly he got through them and workout an average Grin Grin Grin Will also have try remember the 'disappointed' reaction to DS not doign him homework properly.

Comtess - you are in Australia - the land where more of the wildlife will kill you than not. Fear of Foreign Creatures is NOT irrational.

FancyFancy · 26/09/2016 08:43

Morning wenches

Did actually get to watch Poldark last night, albeit late. Found it a bit low key tbh. He remains very hot though & I love Demelza. And next week I think a bath may feature

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/09/2016 11:04

But have had sudden blast of housework instead of working - having remembered that the chimney sweep is coming today Shock So now at least the house in't quite the midden that it was...

Badders123 · 26/09/2016 11:11

Helen...I'm the same...just been to village and ran errands. I've hoovered and mopped the floors.
Breakfast dishes done
Got one load in tumble and another waiting to go in
I think I'm done now :)
I'm ignoring the ironing pile til tomorrow later
I really must try and get into poldark

ApricotCrush · 26/09/2016 11:22

Hello, we're back, had a nice weekend. It was quite sunny, but the wind was biting and I'm really not keen on walking too far when it's like that.

Pleased the party went well Badders.

OMG Comtess is the drain sorted yet? Glad you're enjoying your new job.

Watched Poldark last night. Dr. Apricot diagnosed the mystery illness before Dr. Enys did. Smile

Well, my car has gone in to have some bodywork done and I won't get it back until Friday. Shock I hate being stranded.

Have a good day all!

Badders123 · 26/09/2016 11:32

💥welcome home apes!💥💐
Meant to ask cycling wenches....what is your view on BWs steroid use?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/09/2016 13:42

I am not a 'cycling wench'. But I think it all seems a bit disappointingly disingenuous. Kind of "I didn't cheat because I was allowed to do it, so that's not cheating." Not that I have any indepth knowlegde apart from what I read in one online article

(I am a baking-cakes wench, because tonight I am going to to meet people I've never met at a place I've never been, and it's a 'bring and share' buffet thingy. That is not as dodgy as it sounds Hmm - it's a work-related meeting Grin. )

Now I am going to be a 'getting-lunch wench', after which I will be a 'working wench' again.

Badders123 · 26/09/2016 13:58

I am currently "drenched wench" 😖
Ugh. Cold and damp and horrid.
I am making egg mayo sandwiches for my lunch
I must admit those 3 words bring and share inspire horror in me 😀

FancyFancy · 26/09/2016 14:51

Afternoon wenches. Am trying to have a peaceful post lunch cup of tea, only next door's gardener is blasting away on the leaf blower. Fecking thing Angry - blows most of it out onto the street where the wind blows it back onto my drive.

Re BW - don't really know enough about it tbh. If he was genuinely ill then fine. Not sure the Guardian article tells us much - doesn't tell us what was actually wrong with him nor whether the steroid in question is a logical treatment for it. And the comment about 'no needles' is a bit disingenuous. It's a daft statement for anyone to make as presumably there are plenty of perfectly innocent reasons for someone to have an injection - vaccinations anyone? I know that's not what they mean, but I do wish journos would give us facts and not insinuations.

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/09/2016 15:17

Badders We haven't had any rain thank goodness (washing out on line) and 'bring and share' also traumatises me, but I can do cakes ok, so cakes it is. Must remember to ice them though...

Chimney all swept - lovely chap, cats were v. unimpressed with the industrial hoover Grin but inconvenient cat has decided it's safe to come back in now and explore the newly cleaned chimney etc which he can get to for once because I moved the fire guard out of the way and haven't put it back yet.

erm... that's all really.

Fancy - has the fance been mended yet?

SisterHelenoftheEternalCatchUp · 26/09/2016 15:56

WTAF is a 'fance'? FENCE, FFS.

Anyway - rewatching Ep5 - Constance should feel right at home in the locksmith's house (lookig for his blind wife) - that's the set for her old house Grin did we notice that at the time?

FancyFancy · 26/09/2016 16:14

Not sure we did helen - well I know I didn't, cos I always miss details like that!

And no, fence still not fixed Sad. The leaf blower offender is on the other side - otherwise he could cut out a stage & just blow the sodding leaves through the cavernous gap in the fence. Grin

Badders123 · 26/09/2016 17:29

No I didn't notice either
Feeling rough as buggery again today so I'm off to bed soon!

WickedWenchOfTheNorth · 26/09/2016 19:14

For Bads CakeBrew

ApricotCrush · 26/09/2016 19:53

Nope, didn't notice that Helen, now I'm going to have to watch it again. Wink

Wine for Badders.

Re BW. He has asthma, doesn't he, and steroids are a treatment for it. But who can prove how bad it was at the time to necessitate what he was prescribed?

I'm getting pretty disenchanted with sport in general to be honest. Our local football club has just been bought by a Chinese businessman who is throwing millions at it in order to get to the top of the Premiership in two years. I only recognise the names of two of the players. There are no local players who have come through the ranks, which is how it used to be.

DH is currently watching a golf competition where the top prize is £12 million. It's obscene. It's all about the money and the true meaning of sportsmanship has been lost.

FancyFancy · 26/09/2016 21:01

And don't forget that by Tokyo a man can take drugs to reduce his testerone levels for 2 years (to a level still far higher than most women) & be able to compete in the women's events apricot. Honestly, you couldn't make it up Sad Angry
