Ahhh thanks Coddy

What do you want to know ??????

Janh · 12/06/2004 17:01

Hooray!

nutcracker · 12/06/2004 17:03

Theres not much to tell at the mo. House should be ready by Friday so hopefully i can sign for it next Tuesday and move in in the following few days.

Actually feel quite weird about it. Like i'm really excited but managing to keep a lid on it at the mo. Think once i actually get in there i will turn into a blubbering wreck and cry for a week )with happiness of course).

codswallop · 12/06/2004 17:09

what have you got to get yet or can you survivi as is?

OP posts:
nutcracker · 12/06/2004 17:15

Erm well we'll have no flooring, but have survived that before, and as we'll probably live in the garden for a while it won't matter .

It probably will look a litle bare at first cos as good as my kids are at spreading out their junk, i don't think even they will fill a 4 bed house with the contents of a 2 bed flat.

Things i have to buy immeidiatly are : black out blinds for kids rooms, flooring for kids rooms and an alarm and lots of locks for the doors and windows.

It'll probably take us a while to get sorted, but i'm fine with that. Have said we will take one room at a time so we don't get overwhelmed with stuff to buy.
My Ds is having his room done first so that we can finally have our room back. Will be weird though not having him their peering at me in the morning.

codswallop · 13/06/2004 15:01

you know trhat you can just gett he blackout lining - which is white?

OP posts:
codswallop · 13/06/2004 15:09

are you carpeting or lino or wood?

OP posts:
gscrym · 13/06/2004 15:16

What type of locks are you needing. This is DH's area as he supplies them to building sites. Make sure they meet what ever is stated by your house insurance.

nutcracker · 13/06/2004 15:32

Not sure what locks we need yet. There will already be locks on the doors but i want more just to be sure.

I am hoping to have laminate in hall, dinning room, kids rooms and maybe in the living room (can't decide). Will be needing carpet for the stairs, our room and possibly the living room.
Think i'm having lino or vinyl floor tiles in kitchen, bathroom and downstairs loo.

Twinkie · 13/06/2004 15:34

any more news?

OP posts:
nutcracker · 14/06/2004 19:59

Well guess where i've been today ???

In the new house. It's still in a bit of a state and won't be ready for Friday after all, but probably sometime next week.
It has gort a through living/dinning room which is massive. A fair sized kitchen and a downstairs loo.
Upstairs it has 2 big double rooms and 2 smaller rooms which are really good sizes for small rooms.
New bathroom which is great and a massive landing.

Basically it's brilliant, i can't beleive how big it is.
They have papered and painted the living/ dining room walls (magnolia) and fitted new kitchen units and painted walls (maggy again). They still need to paint the hall and fix light switches that were all smashed.
Upstairs all the rooms need decorating and i will have to make that a priority as the people who lived there before have written all over the walls in permanent marker.
They have fitted all new doors internally and a new front door.

I am sooooooooo excited

P.s - I will email you Twinkie.

codswallop · 14/06/2004 20:15

Btw how old is the house? what kind of style is it?

OP posts:
nutcracker · 14/06/2004 20:57

The house is about 10yrs old Coddy, quite modern, but alot bigger than most new houses i've seen.

Am bust looking at colour charts now

Dd's have now decided that they want seperate bedrooms. I was going to give them the largest room to share and then have the other one as a toy room, but Dd1 is insistent that she wants her own room.
Ouestion is, who gets the big one ??? Suppose i could give DS the big one and Dd's the smaller two
Any advice ???

nutcracker · 14/06/2004 20:57

Busy not bust

misdee · 14/06/2004 21:51

i bet you cant belive its finally happening. whats the garden like? is the grass 6ft high?

nutcracker · 14/06/2004 21:53

LOL Garden is quite big but needs some work. The grass has been badly trated and may need replacing, but i don't mind that.
The kids couldn't care less what it's like so long as it's full of swiming pool and all the rest on their lists

codswallop · 14/06/2004 22:01

is that with a jacuzzi? ;0

OP posts:
nutcracker · 14/06/2004 22:05

Dd2 has enough wind to turn any bath or pool into a jacuzzi

nutcracker · 18/06/2004 00:16

Well they have taken the boards off now. Not so sure if this is good or not though as it leaves it exposed to anything and everything, and i have visions of the old family breaking back in and wrecking it all again.
I am going to speak to the estates mamnger on monday and ask why they have been removed.
They are also supposed to be ringing me on monday to tell me what else needs doing and how long it's gonna take.
Hopefully it'll be finnished in the week and we can move at the weekend .
Have spent today looking at stuff for the house and i still can't really beleive it's ours.
I was gonna buy a pictur, but i didn't want to tempt fate.
