'and we are all old cos we can spell'

now that's ironic.

this whole thread has put me completely off mumsnet. people started this thread to attack modelling mums for no particular reason and I just don't understand it. mumsnet is supposed to be a supportive place and it really does seem you're getting your jollies slagging people off that you don't even know, totally categorizing them. it's really offensive. I know a lot of you posting are regulars that new posters, etc. look up to and I think you should be ashamed of yourselves.

2ManyPimms · 26/01/2007 10:48

DLM, it's all rather pathetic, isn't it? Seems to be the same set of people coming to shit stir as well. (They need to get a life, IMHO.)

hercules1 · 26/01/2007 10:52

I think you will find the quote about being old because you can spell came from a model mum.

dylansluckymum · 26/01/2007 11:21

icod is a model mum?

2manypimms, I agree and I think if their children were treating other children this way (comments about being 'coarse', money not going to education, etc.) I would hope they wouldn't be too happy about it.

how does anyone know that someone doesn't have a learning disability? or perhaps had unfortunate family circumstances that didn't allow for a good education? saying about textspeak 'It's hard to read and not the done thing on mumsnet.' well la dee f*cking dah didn't realise your were next in line to the throne. maybe that's the best she can spell... you think that makes you better than her or anyone? get over yourselves.

hercules1 · 26/01/2007 11:23

No, one of the model mums said to cod that she must be old as she couldn't spell.

hercules1 · 26/01/2007 11:24

Sorry, I'm not going to join in with the slanging match you want.

Tinkerbel5 · 26/01/2007 11:44

maybe if threads like these werent started in the first place there wouldnt be any slanging matches full stop

hercules1 · 26/01/2007 11:47

I think it is like a lot of things e.g extended breastfeeding that if you are somewhat ignorant of it then you are very quick to judge. I reckon if people on mumsnet "knew" you from other threads and topics and hence realised you werent actually all a steriotypical model mum then it wouldnt be such a problem. As I misquoted earlier 'ingorance rarely survives once met and got to know or something like that.

Tinkerbel5 · 26/01/2007 11:52

I go on other sections of the board and so do a few of the other 'model mums', but why do we have to be 'known' to be able to post on this site ?, is there a panel of MN'ers who decide who is allowed to be here ? and do these people go round the whole board picking out people they dont recognise the names off and looking up their profile to see what other sections they visit ?

hercules1 · 26/01/2007 11:55

I never said anything about not posting. It seemed peopel were wondering why they were getting slated for being mogglers and I was simply suggesting one possible reason. Hardly shocking.
