I bidded on a book

I got an e mail to say it had ended and I hadn't won it

Then I got an e mail from the seller saying you have won......... payment is £6.51

But it doesn't say 2nd chance offer or anything, or that the original winner hadn't paid

I only won it last night????????????

Email them asking why they are offering it to you.

Perhaps the other buyer dropped out.

wotzsaname · 18/01/2007 09:08

doesnt sound right tme.

BuffysMum · 18/01/2007 09:10

or possibly they retracted the highest bidder for some reason

anniebear · 18/01/2007 09:10

I e mailed her this morning

Have just looked in 'My E Bay' and its under items I didn't win

and isn't in items I have won [hmmm]

doesn't sound right. If it's not an official email through ebay then you are at risk, as you'll be dealing direct with the seller. Also, have you checked that it IS from the actual seller - there are all sorts of scams where 3rd parties try to obtain other people's details. Maybe not just for £6.51 though!! but worth checking, and being aware of

wotzsaname · 18/01/2007 09:10

You are not obliged to buy it if your bid wasnt the winning one. Did the email come via ebay as ti should have been a 2nd chance - i got one the other day in my messages, but didnt respond as Id bought another on buy now after id lost out on the original one.

anniebear · 18/01/2007 09:11

shall I e mail the person who has won it??? and ask them?

OP posts:
wotzsaname · 18/01/2007 09:12

Do you want it? why waste your time if not.

anniebear · 18/01/2007 09:12

it has come via e bay but isnt a second chance offer

JustUsTo
This happened to me.
I wasnt the winner in a auction. Only 1 item showing in the lsiting.
Ebayer after bid closed, sent email message to my inbox and asked if id like to buy at the price i bid as she had more.
I just didnt respond.

anniebear · 18/01/2007 09:21

maybe thats what she ahs one, but she didnt say anything like that, just that Im the winning buyer

will wait and see if she responds to me

If I ignore and dont pay, can she leave me neg feedback?

OP posts:
crumbs · 18/01/2007 09:22

no, because you have no deal in ebay's eyes

wotzsaname · 18/01/2007 09:22

You can only leave feedback if you are the "you have won this item" real winner.

Gary Barlow (no laughing please) lol

comes to £6.21 with P&P

I can get it in Asda for £9.99

which I didnt want to pay as I will read it once and then will collect dust. If I were saving a couple of £ I would'nt bother but its nearly £4

OP posts:
anniebear · 18/01/2007 09:26

Just seen it in Play.com for £8.99
