Anonymity and all that - why not do a member profile?

If you have so far (like me) chosen not to do a member profile, why not?

I enjoy the feeling of anonymity on MN, and tend to be a lot more open on here than in RL, and chat about things that I wouldn't talk about to friends in RL.

Am I alone in my hesitancy on this?

no, me too!

Tinker · 27/05/2004 18:49

I'm just not a joiner by nature roisin. Once other people start to do something I become even more stubborn about not doing it. I hardly ever add to threads where I feel everyone is being 'told' to do so. Just a miserable git really.

feezy · 27/05/2004 18:50

I want to know how to erase mine. Can I ?

suzywong · 27/05/2004 18:50

I just think I blather on enough as it is so who would want to know more? If you are that desparate to find out you could discover most things about me throughthe archives anyway. God forbid you should be so bored.
Plus I do quite like the anonymity

lou33 · 27/05/2004 18:50

Feezy, email [email protected] and they will do it for you.

charliecat · 27/05/2004 18:51

I didnt think i was interesting enough to merit one!

Kayleigh · 27/05/2004 18:55

Haven't done one but no good reason for it.
And like suzywong says, if anyone wants to know anything about me it's all here somewhere !

It's important for a woman to keep a bit of mystery about her

agy · 27/05/2004 19:09

Same as Charliecat - too boring. Not that Charliecat's boring! OMG I'll shut up.

SoupDragon · 27/05/2004 19:21

Basically can't be ar$ed.

CODalmighty · 27/05/2004 19:22

I agree with roisin. I am making a habi t of that at the mo. Her and frogs

charliecat · 27/05/2004 19:29

Thanks agy!

tamum · 27/05/2004 19:36

Agree with SoupDragon- I was just trying to think exactly why it was, and then I saw Soupy's answer, something clicked and I remembered

Gosh - didn't realise I was in such distinguished company with my views on this ... ... for once

OP posts:
Toots · 27/05/2004 20:07

Me too, not a great joiner, not often anyway. Like skulking about. Have realised/crystalied so much about myself from how I use Mumsnet. In fact, here is my ALTERNATIVE MEMBER PROFILE.

Toots wants to be in on things and popular then disappear when she fancies. She hates being responsible and only wants to be leant on by people who are actually quite strong already. She can also be kind and nice.

whats YOURS??????

Toots · 27/05/2004 20:08

And PLEASE do yours, all of you I'm already panicking!!!!!

Skara · 27/05/2004 20:08

Hi Roisin, just adding my name to the list. Don't want anyone I know coming on here and adding two and two together, I like being able to rant in privacy

Toots · 27/05/2004 20:09

sh*t. Will have to go and get more wine and pringles and hope someone else has posted

Suzywong is a 57 year old warehouse nightshift worker from Hartlepool also known as Derek. She like greyhound racing, pretending she has young children and collecting all the lint from the tumble dryer. Her ambition is to have sufficent lint to one day stuff a cuddlly toy.

Chinchilla · 27/05/2004 20:51

I'm the same as Soupy, but I'm also worried that no-one would post on it, and it would rapidly fall off the active list, into oblivion.

Chinchilla · 27/05/2004 20:52

Chinchilla is 'a gentle, timid and intelligent animal of the rodent family. It originates from the Andes Region of South America'.

Branster · 27/05/2004 21:00

nope. me too roisin!

BlossomHill · 27/05/2004 21:01

Roisin, I feel exactly the same. To me this is just somewhere to get advice and sometimes open up. I like the anonymity too. I certainly wouldn't post photos or personal details, it's just not me. Then again everyone is different!

Kayleigh · 28/05/2004 08:23

LOL suzywong And that's quite unusual for me at this time of the morning. Will think of you as Derek forevermore !
