It's one of the better things about having older kids obs! It's nothing new either - when my parents got our first video recorder it was delivered in the daytime & my DF arrived home from work, read the first page of the instuctions & announced:

'Right, first we have to tune this thing in'
'yep, already done, Dad'
'ok, so lets look at how to record'
'already done, Dad'
