I am FREAKING out.

DH accepted a job today in our home country. We have told the kids. I have to tell work tomorrow.

He is starting in January. The DC and I will finish out the school year, sell the flat and follow.

Freaking out doesn't cover it actually. Fuck fuck fuck.

Done
V best of luck with it all

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 26/01/2016 22:17

Oh Hearts. ThanksWine

Hang in there. The next few months will fly by and then you'll all be together again on this side of the pond.

When you're settled, we'll have to arrange a MN meet-up for all of us in SW Ontario.

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 27/01/2016 00:45

Aw, darling, this was bound to happen about something, it's a big adjustment and I bet you're trying to overcompensate too, for the girls missing their dad.

Brilliant that your plus side dealt positively with pretty much everything on the minus side Flowers good for you.

Bagless definitely the way to go but what will really change your life is cordless Smile

Oi, Annie keep your powder dry for a bit, we have many, many meet ups that Hearts needs to concentrate on here before you get your mitts on her Grin

lemonpoppyseed · 27/01/2016 00:57

Aha! Found this thread again! It popped up last week, then I managed to lose it completely.

I am in Toronto, so any questions, just ask. However, we are moving away in the summer (heading to the US for DH's job) so I may miss the great SW Ontario MN meetup. I have been here fourteen years - eek - and love it...

Glad your DH has landed and all is going well. Hope you manage to find a time to chat soon!

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 27/01/2016 02:36

Lemon you may just have to venture north for the meet up. I would love to meet you personally and thank you for my sanity the sling. Grin

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 27/01/2016 02:37

I shall bide my time, Bewitched. Soon she will be mine, all mine.

Bwahahaha!! Grin

Want2bSupermum · 27/01/2016 02:54

Found this thread. So exciting that you are making the move. That area of the world is one of my favs. We are stuck in NYC and I really really would love to be raising our DC up in the KW area.

I'm on my own a lot as DH travels for work and its not easy, especially when you are working. Not the best thing to disclose but i keep some cash in the house in case I need to pay someone. I have the Dyson now for the bag less feature!

For Skype calls we do them super early in the morning here (at 5:30am) so it's 11:30am in Denmark. This is normally when DH blocks time out on his calendar. Not so easy to do though when you don't have wifi or you are all in different places.

magimedi · 27/01/2016 17:43

I shall bide my time, Bewitched. Soon she will be mine, all mine.

You are such a massive & atrocious cunt, Annie! Grin.

Hearts Hope today has gone better.

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 27/01/2016 22:35

Yes, magi, I am. And that's why you love me! Grin

magimedi · 27/01/2016 22:41

PS Do you have gin in Canada?? Preferably Death's Door!

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 27/01/2016 22:49

Yay! That would be awesome.

And yes, we have gin! We're not all backwoods, beer-swilling, igloo-building hicks, you know. Why, we even have electricity! We is totally modern, eh!

FruStefanOla · 29/01/2016 19:47

Hi, Hearts. Happy Friday - are you OK, eh?!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 29/01/2016 20:05

About to be a real lightweight and go to bed in a minute (bastard early morning tomorrow)

I have the PERFECT place for a Canadian meet up. Cottage (Canadian definitiion, not the UK one) on Georgian Bay, 6 bedrooms, sleeps 14 or 16 at a pinch. Less than 2 hrs from Pearson.

OP posts:
HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 29/01/2016 22:26

Want2B - cash in the house is an excellent tip. Thank you! Come to the Georgian Bay meet up Grin

I think I am getting used to being in charge of keeping on top of everything. I was very spoiled before with DH doing so much.

If it was just living without him for 6 months I think it would be fine... it's everything else I have to do, mostly to get the house ready to put on the market e.g. the biggest decluttering exercise ever undertaken in the history of the world. Plus the passports. Plus DH lost the girls' Canadian Citizenship certificates so need new ones of those too. Plus keeping the place show-worthy for the estate agents. Packing the house. Doing the inventory. Auuggggghhhh I am freaking myself out again.

OP posts:
HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 29/01/2016 22:26

Need a fag.

Must stop smoking.

Not right now though.

Want2bSupermum · 29/01/2016 22:47

hearts I would love to join you guys! Im 7 months pregnant right now and if I deliver up in Canada I will have an easier time dealing with Canadian immigration! I checked based on annies thread about her DH and our future 2nd DD will be waiting approx 2.5 years for her citizenship certificate to be issued. I strongly suggest your DH finds those certificates. I can only hope a request for a copy of something already issued doesn't have such a long wait time.

Want2bSupermum · 29/01/2016 22:49

Its better when you drink! Being pregnant, working stupid hours and having 2DC ages 4 &2 is awful. I need drink and can't....

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 29/01/2016 23:09

Make the agent work for their money, obvs. you have to sign off the inventory but make them do it.

It's a family home, doesn't need to be perfect. Can you get a cleaner for a couple of hours a week, or even a fortnight just to do stuff you can't get to.

Do you have to de-clutter? Could you just take everything with you? It will all take on different significance when you get the other end and be more obvious what to ditch and what to keep - all a bit emotional doing it here.

Um, if DH lost the certificates can he not be in charge of getting new ones?

Don't freak out sweetheart, it'll be fine. You've got lots of time to sort it all.

Have a fag, now is not the time to be removing crutches.

Decide that you're going to stop when you're settled the other end.

magi is the Queen of vaping, she'll boss you into it give you lots of good advice Grin

magimedi · 30/01/2016 07:13

Yes, I am back from 'forrin' & had a wonderful time with PFGC.

Vaping is amazing but agree with BBB that now is not the time to give yourself any more pressure.

I don't know how much places like Lock 'n' Store charge for storage nowadays but could you put some of the stuff into store prior to the move & deal with it later or take it?

FruStefanOla · 30/01/2016 08:40

But if it's your own home which you're selling, why do you need to do an inventory Confused? After all, all the chattels belong to you. Inventory checks are just for furnished rented properties where the majority of the chattels belong to the landlord, not the tenant.

magimedi · 30/01/2016 09:32

I wonder if Hearts means it as a list for the packers who will be shipping the stuff to The Great White North??

FruStefanOla · 30/01/2016 09:54

Ah, good point magi. I hadn't thought of that.
