I am FREAKING out.

DH accepted a job today in our home country. We have told the kids. I have to tell work tomorrow.

He is starting in January. The DC and I will finish out the school year, sell the flat and follow.

Freaking out doesn't cover it actually. Fuck fuck fuck.

I hope your workplace stinks forever!!

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 13/01/2016 19:58

ahem...

Careful magi - a post such as that would appear to indicate that you are of the cuntish persuasion. Grin

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 13/01/2016 21:52

Annie I love meet ups and would totally love to do a Canadian one.

100kms...... I have a few guesses as to towns. K-W or G maybe?

Smile Grin

Annie I am a real life cunt! Grin

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 13/01/2016 22:47

Slightly south of K-W and G. Starts with a B and is west of H. Wink

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 13/01/2016 22:47

And that is exactly why I like you, magi. Grin

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 14/01/2016 08:46

The atrocious cuntishness of everyone on this thread is beyond reproach. Fact.

Great news about the au pair Hearts.

I'm sure your flat will be snapped up, you just keep snapping at everyone's heels to keep the sale moving along Grin

Stay positive about DH going; it's the first big step towards your great adventure.
Rally all your friends and make lots of arrangements for nights out and boozy nights in!
Brunches, lunches and afternoon teas when you finish working.

You'll be far too exhausted and hung-over to miss him!

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 15/01/2016 01:36

Ooh...we have badges? Sweet!

I hope everything goes well tomorrow OP. My DH had to go through the CIC intake centre at Pearson nearly 6 years ago and it is a nightmare. Tell your DH to buy a bottle of water before the plane lands as he may have a long wait and there isn't anywhere to buy a drink until he clears customs.

Safe travels to your DH!

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 15/01/2016 20:00

Aaaah fuck Annie that sounds awful for your DH. Mine is Canadian though so I am hoping that will help? He only has a couple of suitcases with him this time, no unaccompanied baggage etc. Fingers crossed - my DMum is waiting up for him at home!

BBB you are going to be amongst the friends for brunching and lunching and boozing before I go, you do realise that darling?

Magi and Fru - you too, you cunts.

Just say the word, will be there like a shot.

Hope you're OK tonight sweetheart Wine

FruStefanOla · 16/01/2016 17:38

How are you doing today Hearts? Wine

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 18/01/2016 18:41

How's it going sweetheart?

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 22/01/2016 13:14

It's been a week - how is DH settling back in to life in Canada? Is he a beer-swilling, donut-munching, snowshoe-wearing hoser yet?

And how are you coping without him? Thanks

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 22/01/2016 13:28

Annie I am sure he has at least been to Timmy's more than once Grin

But sorry for the radio silence everyone!

It is really busy without DH, even with the help of the au pair who is still wonderful. I think she and the DDs and I will settle into a routine soon which will be easier. Doesn't help that work has been ridiculously busy this week.

DH is loving the new job. Absolutely loving it. The team are all really nice and extremely good at their jobs. He is having some late nights but that is to be expected. His phone is giving him trouble, Rogers is apparently a lot worse than Vodafone even for customer service Grin

I really miss him. Due to info security etc they do not have wifi at the office, and they are pretty strict on personal emails to/from company email accounts. It is an open-plan office so he can't really ring home unless he sneaks out and goes to a coffee shop to use their wifi. By the time he gets home at night it is the middle of the night here. So keeping in touch during the week is really difficult. He keeps waking me up by sending texts and emails in the middle of the night!!! I did the same to him the other day though by accident. Hopefully we can catch up this weekend properly. With him not working and my flexibility (and my own office) we have been really spoiled the last while being able to call/text/WhatsApp/email/whatever whenever we wanted to. I guess we will get used to the new rules!

I've been thinking of you. SO pleased to hear the job is going well.

Rotten about the contact though.

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 22/01/2016 16:12

That all sounds promising; stressful but promising.

Rogers have shitty customer service. Tell your DH to post a rant on Twitter and tag @RogersHelps. He will get lightning fast assistance. I do it every time I have an issue. Grin

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 22/01/2016 16:48

Thanks for the tip Annie.

FruStefanOla · 22/01/2016 18:08

Hi Hearts. Glad everything is all working out well - apart from the crapola problems with you and DH being able to contact each other at sensible times of the day.

Surely his company must know that you're still here in London, that you're trying to sell your home here and that you and he do need to have some regular form of contact during the day?

Anyway Flowers and Wine - as it's Friday!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 22/01/2016 18:43

Sounds like you're doing well Hearts FlowersWine

Maybe Dh can get a special arrangement in the circumstances, as outlined ^

Difficult in a new job obviously.

But it will only be for... ooh.. a bit over 5 months now Grin

FruStefanOla · 23/01/2016 19:13

Hope you and DH are getting the chance for a good catch-up on the phone this weekend Hearts.

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 26/01/2016 19:49

Today was a tough day.

Minus side
Was reduced to a gibbering snivelling wreck at the passport office this morning. The fuckers. Need to go back. More on this later if I have the strength.
Shouted at DH down the phone about said passport issue but in all fairness he was supposed to take care of all of this before he left
Ran out of loo roll at home. Had to ask au pair to use her own money to buy some.
Forgot to get money for the cleaner.
Can't find hoover bags. Decorator needs to hoover. Embarrassed that bags are AWOL.
Headache.

Plus side
Got to speak to DH not once but twice Smile and apologised the second time.
Gave myself a stern talking to about the passports. Decided to suck it up and be a grown up.
Had a nice coffee.
DD1 in a good mood after school.
Got a lift home from a colleague so missed the wind and sideways rain.
Have decided that I am treating myself to a bagless Dyson when we move.

OP posts:
HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 26/01/2016 19:53

I am going to ask MNHQ to move this out of Chat so it doesn't go POOF in a few weeks.

OP posts:
FruStefanOla · 26/01/2016 20:05

Perhaps ask for it to be moved to Other Subjects www.mumsnet.com/Talk/other_subjects. We'll still find you!!

Sorry to hear about your up and down day. Sometimes it just all gets on top of you, doesn't it?
