Who are the newbies?

I've only been on mn for a few months - August I think it was. Who else is a newbie? It's hard to tell from posts who is new and who is 'old'! Also, do any other newbies find

1 you can kill a thread stone dead with one flash of your nickname?

2 your threads fall off the active convos at an alarming rate

3 you spend ages thinking of something incredibly witty to say and no-one notices?

only joking really, love mn, am an addict!

i am indeed, 2nerves. this christmas name change thing can be confusing i fear... although not as bad as hallowe'en when i was briefly theblairAITCHproject but had to ditch it as was becoming freaked out at people calling me Blair. Might change to Aitchoo Aitchoo Aitchoo next week as people keep getting me and Greensleeves mixed up, which has positives and negatives.

and humph, no secret crying today on your birthday...

SmileysPeople · 08/12/2006 23:44

I'm a newbie. MN great for me tonight. I had a problem asked for help, got good advice and great support and am going to bed happier.
I LOVE MN.
You may have to remind me I said that one day!

whensantagotstuckupAITCHimney · 08/12/2006 23:45

hello lulu, you old softie. might swing into the bar now as AM NOT WORKING for once...

2nervesnapartridgeinapeartree · 08/12/2006 23:48

Are you called aitch in RL?

I only ask because I am (as a nickname obv - my mother doesn't actually dislike me afaia) and have admired your clever name from afar many times.

BahHunkBug · 08/12/2006 23:50

No reason to be sad about killing threads, ladies

Merry Christmas!

trixymalixy · 08/12/2006 23:50

Hello,I'm a newbie too. I found out about MN from a booklet I picked up in Mothercare.

My DH is getting p'd off at the amount of time I spend on here too. Can't believe how addictive it is!!

2nervesnapartridgeinapeartree · 08/12/2006 23:52

lol hunker.
What happened to hunkertheinternetphenomonen?

Or is that SO last week?

Quootiepie · 08/12/2006 23:54

awww, thanks Aitch

Dont worry Twinkle - people get my name wrong all the time! Quotie, Qootie, Qutie ~ everything!

whensantagotstuckupAITCHimney · 08/12/2006 23:55

well, my name begins with an H and i sign emails suchly... (but tbh it's also what i call myself when i am being particulalry dense and dufferish and i joined MN heartbroken that BFing had given me up and i was dreading weaning so the Aitch came easily to mind).
HOWEVER. i was initially Aitch71, but some people (yes, oldies goddammit) think that names with numbers are naff and i agree with them so i asked people to help me with a new one. in fact i think it was Humph who came up with it.

Quootiepie · 08/12/2006 23:55

lulu is definatly not a "newbie" ~ I think she came after me though... but still. Every thread I go on and stick my oar in, she's there first!

CertainlyNotHumphreyCushion · 08/12/2006 23:58

Oh yes, she's terribly clever, that Humph.
And vastly under rated.

BahHunkBug · 08/12/2006 23:59

I'm too fickle to stick with one name too long, 2nerves I've had about four since December started!

This one is a bit curmudgeonly though, so I'm thinking of changing it. It makes me post with a frown and I feel grumpy with it on. [ponders]

(Can I just say to anyone who's new to MN and feeling a bit daunted...you bloody should be, it's scary!)

(Just kidding - just get stuck in )

2nervesnapartridgeinapeartree · 09/12/2006 00:00

Well done Humph - not that she will see this as she's obviously not around tonight.

BahHunkBug · 09/12/2006 00:00

(Aitch, I believe I am one of the oldies to whom you refer re number-suffixes )

BahHunkBug · 09/12/2006 00:01

Yes, where is that enigmatic poster, that glamorous Humph?

I had a winning lottery ticket with her name on - I wanted her address to post it to.

Shame, I'll have to spread jam on it and eat it if she's not here.

That would be if someone wanted to look you up.

FrostyTheSnowMarsLady · 09/12/2006 00:07

Came to have a read and say hello and saw that Chandra had me up for President! Ooh sounds lovely! Chandra........ remind me why!!!

Hiya newbies. Just pitch in and duck occasionally. That's what I did! I don't take anything personally (except those that don't like lemon drizzle cake) and when posters p*ss me off I either walk away from the computer (swearing under my breath) or I change threads.

Anyhoo........ that's what I do. Have to say I don't recognise many of your names but I did have a virus filled computer for a few weeks and I've been really busy recently.

MN.... love love love it! I can see you all do too.

Now... who's round is it?

whensantagotstuckupAITCHimney · 09/12/2006 00:07

typical... bloody oldies coming on and hijacking a lovely innocent, nay virginal newbie thread. be off with you, aged crones...

Quootiepie · 09/12/2006 00:08

Hear hear ~ isnt there a "clique" thread somewhere? Leave us unknowns in peace

SantaGotStuckUpTheGreensleeve · 09/12/2006 00:12

How long do you have to serve before you're not a newbie any more? I've almost done a year now. And I hate the word "newbie" anyway, it's not even a real word.

FrostyTheSnowMarsLady · 09/12/2006 00:14

Greeny my love..... you are officially an oldie now!

whensantagotstuckupAITCHimney · 09/12/2006 00:14

ROFL Greeny at 'not real word' snobbery. love it, love it, LOVE IT.

SantaGotStuckUpTheGreensleeve · 09/12/2006 00:15

Ooooh!! Am I really?!?

I do like lemon drizzle cake, too
