...?

they often seem to be the same people who would think twice about factory farming and sweat shops

Nope. Nor the fact that most human trafficking (ie sex slaves) in the UK is connected to the illegal drugs business. TBH I think they probably get a kick out of dabbling with organised crime, think they're in a Guy ritchie movie or something.
I grew out of it by the age of 21.

all you can think about at the time is how cool and glamorous its supposed to be

(but its not so you just pretend it is)

zippitippitoes · 23/11/2006 16:25

of course i meant ethics..it seems to be an acceptable drug and yet it causes so much harm..i really fume when i hear eg media people speaking as if it is an acceptable and individual life style choice..it may not be an issue for them but then they also talk about farmers markets and not wearing fur

I think cocaine addicts are selfish and thoughtless but I don't think people who have the odd line at parties etc are.I had the occasional line in my misspent youth adn I certainly do think twice about factory farming and sweat shops

southeastastra · 23/11/2006 16:28

cocaine is the devil's dandruff

zippitippitoes · 23/11/2006 16:29

I can see that it is alluring from that point of view but you can watch the films and read the books without buying in to the lifestyle

was going to comment but it's easier to just say...

Agree with NP

zippitippitoes · 23/11/2006 16:31

that is what i find mysterious..at 20 I can see that you might not think too hard but at 30 surely it is harming so many people having it at all?

zippi its like stepping over a homeless person on the street

you just pretend its not there or nothing to do with you

nailpolish · 23/11/2006 16:33

can i just say i dont feel like this any longer

but i remember how it feels

TeeCee · 23/11/2006 16:36

Don't think you'll find any cocaine users on Mumsnet, we all have to get up in the mornings!

zippitippitoes · 23/11/2006 16:36

I guess so..it is so odd to have a troll around borough market or somewhere and being all foodie and ethical and then pulling out coke after dinner

Tortington · 23/11/2006 16:37

i have met a lot or recreational users very recently - its rife man!

me - i cant even roll a spliff

nailpolish · 23/11/2006 16:38

i totally see what you are saying
wierd isnt it

it all stems from the media though i think, and what messages they send out

inviting people round for dinner of organic hand reared lamb and then a line or 2 of coke

and then saying it's my choice it's not doing any harm

Are you suggesting that all those on the other thread about chicken are snorting coke???

Seriously though, its a shockingly common drug and i would say that at least 25% of people on here have at least tried it once. I know I was in the minority when I was younger because I hadnt (and still havent) touched the stuff.

expatinscotland · 23/11/2006 16:41

i've stated what i feel about cocaine use numerous times on here and gotten slated for it.

so i'll state the reaction of Columbia's vice president, Francisco Santos, on hearing that Kate Moss was elected Model of the Year despite being a known user:

"Every gram of coke that is consumed is soaked in Colombian blood,"

zippitippitoes · 23/11/2006 16:41

mellowmama

I didn't see that I was mulling over some thing i heard on the radio, but i know in a vague way that people on mn have mentioned coke and was thinking how it all goes with being acceptable
