God I am sooooo bored. I just spent ages updating and reading reviews on GoodReads. I have three tasks I need to complete before I leave for two weeks and no longer officially an employee. I have decided to faff about until 16.15 then do it all in adrenaline mode.

I've just had sad news, my best friend's FIL has been poorly for a very short time but has gone downhill quickly. I had a phone call off her about an hour ago asking if I could have her girls as she needed to go to the hospital as the docs are switching his life support off. I think they were waiting for a miracle. So sad. Don't know what to do with he girls so just bought them chocolate and bunged a film on. Awful time. Just waiting for the call now. I've known him for years. Life is so precious

Oh Flops it's a blessing to have a friend like you that can just take the children and be there. Life is indeed precious and things like this hold a magnifying glass up to it.

God flops. How awful. You're an amazing friend for being there for them. I don't know what to suggest really, just play it by ear and do whatever the girls want. Sounds nice and low key.

Thanks wenches, she'd do it for me in a heartbeat. The girls are 13 and 9 so are aware of what's going on. This really is the best place when we have traumas.

Someone just nearly poked their eye out on my umbrella and shouted at me in the street (I was deliberately holding it out of the way so I don't know how she managed it - that has brightened up my afternoon
