really? just me, then?

it's a bit like the mooncup thing, they're better for the environment so you buy one. and then you realise they are better than the products you've previously been using. and then you realise that one stick lasts over a year. and then you feel like a right mug for having shelled out a fortune on expensive deodorants that don't work and leave marks on your clothes...

and then you think 'i wonder if everyone on mumsnet knows about them?' iimploreyoutoignorethename

Oh yes, me too.

Must take Mooncup plunge.

CarolinaMooncup · 21/10/2006 18:33

It's not an antiperspirant though is it? (asks the rather 'glow'-prone CM).

AlfredAitchcock · 21/10/2006 18:34

well, it says that it isn't but personally i think it is.

OP posts:
CarolinaMooncup · 21/10/2006 18:37

better than a mainstream one?

Mercy · 21/10/2006 18:37

Link doesn't work Alfred. Funnily enough I was looking a website earlier today (summer natural or something) and I'm sure it had a deodorant stone thingy. Must look again.

I have recently discovered alcohol-free deodorant - sting-free and no eyes watering at last

AlfredAitchcock · 21/10/2006 19:05

weird that...
just cut and paste it. www.pitrok.co.uk/push.html

honestly carolinamooncup, i think they work better than even those bzarre 'mitchum' deods which are supposed to last two days. i am somewhat prone to glowing myself, honest.

AlfredAitchcock · 21/10/2006 19:09

oh and i'm aitch, rather than alfred. i was the blairaitchproject but people kept calling me blair which didn't sit very well... alfred's better, i suppose.

FrannyandZooey · 21/10/2006 19:10

Well, I have tried most others, but I haven't actually tried pitrok

I find they work fine for a few months, then (usually just as I have bought a new bottle ) they stop working and I have to switch brands.

And yes I am prone to glowing, as well, so it's especially annoying.

FrannyandZooey · 21/10/2006 19:11

(and heh heh heh I told you people would call you Alfred )

AlfredAitchcock · 21/10/2006 19:13

a bottle? do you mean those ones that come pre-prepared so you can spray them on? i didn't find those worked at all for me, just the push-up ones.
i didn't like the bionsen as much as the pit-rock, and there's another one in a greeny (but of course) case that is good.

OP posts:
AlfredAitchcock · 21/10/2006 19:14

and yes... but it is significantly less unnerving than blair, i assure you.

OP posts:
CarolinaMooncup · 21/10/2006 19:14

lol, AlfredAitchcock - I'm happy enough for people to call me CarolinaMooncup

Am going to buy a Pitrok next time I go shopping and test it out myself. So there.

SamhainWitch · 21/10/2006 19:15

Pitrok

AlfredAitchcock · 21/10/2006 19:18

albatros · 21/10/2006 19:39

I have tried them but I stink!!! I shower every other day and wash my pits in the morning, but I sweat alot and though I wanted to find an aliminium free deo-dorant the 3 I have tried so far don't work

foulmoonfiend · 21/10/2006 19:43

I actually bought Biosen one yesterday and am using it today for the first time!

It's working beutifully!

AlfredAitchcock · 21/10/2006 19:58

poor stinky albatros...

I started using the Pitrok push-up crystal a good few years ago and I am only on my second one.

butterflymum · 21/10/2006 20:02

Tried the Bionsen Deo Total Body at start of summer and still happy with it. The bottlee comes with no liquid, just the mineral salts. You can refill up to 5 times. So far, seems to do the job well and last well.

butterflymum · 21/10/2006 20:03

Bottlee??? Oops, meant bottle. Should also have said, you fill with water.

AlfredAitchcock · 21/10/2006 20:07

that's the one i didn't like at all, funnily enough. i found that the nozzle was always getting clogged up which meant that i had to go to the sink and run it under hot water. which is after all what you do with the stick thing.

OP posts:
southeastastra · 21/10/2006 20:31

i don't use any deodorant at all!

QuootieSpookypie · 21/10/2006 20:33

my mum worked for Aloe Vera ('allo Vera! - still makes me chuckle) and she sold a deodorant that was really good... none of them aluminium salts- or something.

FrannyandZooey · 21/10/2006 20:56

OK, I haven't used a push up stick one

I have used erm

Weleda citrus spray one - that is so natural it is not true, in fact I think it is just lemon juice. It ruddy stings when you shave your armpits I must say.

Then Urtekram crystal deodorant - this is like a roll on liquid, was very good until stopped working

then Jason Tea Tree roll on - worked ok for a bit

Now Bionsen liquid roll on - not bad so far, but only lasts a day, if I forget the next day I stream with sweat, so not as good as yours I guess, Alfred
