really? just me, then?

it's a bit like the mooncup thing, they're better for the environment so you buy one. and then you realise they are better than the products you've previously been using. and then you realise that one stick lasts over a year. and then you feel like a right mug for having shelled out a fortune on expensive deodorants that don't work and leave marks on your clothes...

and then you think 'i wonder if everyone on mumsnet knows about them?' iimploreyoutoignorethename

"stream with sweat" - Franny, ugh!

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 21/10/2006 20:58

use pitrock

its fab

and you don't have to wobble your lips during application or anything

FrannyandZooey · 21/10/2006 20:58

Well, I do

Do you not sweat, then, Greeny?

FrannyandZooey · 21/10/2006 20:59

Ok Filly, when this bionsen one runs out I'll get one

Greensleeves · 21/10/2006 21:00

Like a whore in church, Franny

AlfredAitchcock · 21/10/2006 21:01

eeeuwww, franny doesn't put deodorant on every day. and she streams with sweat...
honest injun, i really recommend them. during the summer what i used to do was put it on then get dressed then go back and do another swipe for safe keeping. you should try it, frankensteinandzooey.

i don't like them, do we really need them at all?

ruty · 21/10/2006 21:03

best one for me is a Jason's one - it is a waxy lump but really works - just run out hope i can find some more. Check Bionsen one doesn't have paraben in it - it was this ingredient in roll ons that was recently linked to breast cancer - i have a vague memory bionsen roll ons were aluminium free but not paraben free.

FrannyandZooey · 21/10/2006 21:05

Oooh I think the Bionsen is paraben free ruty, I will go and check though

FrannyandZooey · 21/10/2006 21:05

SEA speaking personally I do need them

Perhaps you exist on some higher plane, or just have a shit sense of smell?

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 21/10/2006 21:06

pitrok doesn't have parabens in

seeing as how its a big lump of salt and all

AlfredAitchcock · 21/10/2006 21:11

i definitely need a deodorant, i'm afraid. i'd honk without one. i put on deod every day, though, so the world does not yet know my stinky secret.

AlfredAitchcock · 21/10/2006 21:12

am v jealous of people who don't, though. i swear my dh doesn't have pores...

OP posts:
southeastastra · 21/10/2006 21:12

i must exist on a higher plane.

but isn't it just your natural smell? if you wash every day it's not that bad

ruty · 21/10/2006 21:14

can you get pitrock in shops or just on net?

FillyjonkthePumpkinEater · 21/10/2006 21:16

bloody anywhere

you can't walk into a health food shop without stumbling over them

FrannyandZooey · 21/10/2006 21:16

Yes I knew a woman who used to say the same, SEA

reeked something chronic, she did

AlfredAitchcock · 21/10/2006 21:21

i bought mine in boots. and SEA, i must confess that i knew a bloke who said the same thing about not needing deodorant.

but he didn't need to tell me, if you get my drift?

Another convert here! I've been using themsince vefore I started ttc ds.

southeastastra · 21/10/2006 21:26

maybe i reek then! but they're a recent thing aren't they?

FrannyandZooey · 21/10/2006 21:27

Yes, but so are baths, and washing clothes

and not having lice all over your body as a matter of course

southeastastra · 21/10/2006 21:30

baths and washing clothes are not that recent!

AlfredAitchcock · 21/10/2006 21:32

funnily enough i think these salt things have been used for a long time.

OP posts:
AlfredAitchcock · 21/10/2006 21:33

for the record i am absolutely that you do not smell SEA, you come across online as highly fragrant. my dh is the same, just does not have any body odour. lucky get.

OP posts:
FrannyandZooey · 21/10/2006 21:34

I was thinking of the Elizabethans SEA; they all stank and had to shave their heads and wear wigs because their lice were so bad, but you may be right
