Having re-read The Half Blood Prince last week, I think he is on the right side, but no-one agrees with me! Anyone else sad enough to have an opinion on this?

oh no have seen stills....no, imelda staunton is not right. it needed to be someone sugary-jane horrocks or jane asher or someone. someone fluffy. thats why umbridge is so horrifying

(am rereading bk 5 btw-it is horrifying. harry is tortured in dententin and no one does anything )

imnot27 · 14/10/2006 14:01

Yes fillyjonk, my dd who is ten was actually quite disturbed by the detention bit. I think it is frightening for kids to imagine being trapped at school with no-one to turn to. Was quite horrific, really. Oean ? Griffiths for Sirius? Just cos I fancy him really... He was in the Fantastic Four, and was the architect in Forsyte Saga. Yummy

harry potter is full of stuff like that

adults being cruel to kids and the kids having no one to stand up for them

hmmm

the kids seem to like it.

interesting.

I was re-reading book 6 last night, just thinking, if Snape is a goodie, why does he knock Flitwick out when he goes to Snapes study when the death eaters arrive. Is mysterious, no? Perhaps Flitwick is actually Death Eater and only Snape knows?

OP posts:
Bucketsofbloodydinosaurs · 16/10/2006 09:57

For his own good of course. If he's unconscious in the basement he's not going to get zapped or hit by shrapnel. And Snape has important things to do (like watching Malfoy and DD) he hasn't got time to waste duelling with Flitwick or rescuing him later.

imnot27 · 16/10/2006 10:02

Thanks Buckets, you've set my mind at rest!

OP posts:
Rosyspookily · 16/10/2006 10:08

Yeah poor Snape seems so awful but all his bad behaviour is for higher reasons!!
Read some predictions on a Harry potter site (thankyou cornmeadow) and one was Nevilles parents would recover! Wouldn't that be great for wee Neville?

ScareyCaligulaCorday · 16/10/2006 10:14

Totally agree that Gary Oldman is a huge disappointment as Sirius, you want him to be gorgeous.

No-one has challenged me/ agreed with me about whether Sirius is gay though!

imnot27 · 16/10/2006 10:22

OOhhhh missed that about Sirius as gay! Yes, I'll go with that, therefore we could have had Rupert Everett playing him, who is goooorrrrgeous, and very good at villain type roles. Would be fab if Nevilles parents recovered, I feel very sorry for Neville. y hopes of a Neville/Luna union were dashed on the mugglenet site, so I need some reassurance that he will be happy at the end!

OP posts:
ScareyCaligulaCorday · 16/10/2006 10:24

No no, I don't want you to agree with me, I don't want him to be gay, but I fear he is...

imnot27 · 16/10/2006 10:39

No, sorry, I see all the signs now you have pointed it out, its not even debateable IT'S A FACT!

OP posts:
Rosyspookily · 16/10/2006 11:27

nope I thought Gary oldman or whatever his name is was pretty sexy as sirius, I like them rugged! And he's FAR too dirty and scruffy to be gay![GRIN]

Rosyspookily · 16/10/2006 11:28

oops

ScareyCaligulaCorday · 16/10/2006 11:30

Yes but that's why GO is wrong for Sirius. Too rugged, too unambiguously heterosexual and not handsome enough. He never had any looks to lose.

Bucketsofbloodydinosaurs · 16/10/2006 11:57

Oh God, Sirius and James were like the Sean Bean character and Aragorn in Lord of the Rings, gay gay gay! None more gay .

I'mnot27, are you hinting that Luna comes to a sticky end then?

imnot27 · 16/10/2006 12:27

No Buckets, I just read that people hoping Neville and Luna would be a couple were sadly misguided. You know, Vito Morgesen or whatever he's called IS Sirius!! You have finally found the answer i have been seeking for YEARS! That is exactly who should have played him,- sexy, fit, bit scruffy BUT also bit gay, well done!!

OP posts:
ScareyCaligulaCorday · 16/10/2006 13:42

Who he? You got a link?

I am so upset that no-one is arguing with the proposition that Sirius is gay. I want someone to go through the books and prove that he's not.

Rosyspookily · 16/10/2006 13:57

Well poor old Sirius was rotting unfairly in azkaban when he should have been out chasing women (or men) and then the poor guy was only out a year but had to hide and then he snuffed it, very tragic figure.

dreamcatcher · 16/10/2006 14:45

If Vigo Mortenson (I agree seriously shaggable and perfect for Sirius) actually played sirius then wouldn't lotr and hp start to look just a bit too similar?
Gandalf is already virtually interchangeable with DD. What next,Harry as frodo?

Come to think of it if you put glasses on Elija Wood....

imnot27 · 16/10/2006 16:52

Scareycaligulah, Vigo M is the bloke who played Aragorn in Lord of the rings! Yes, I can see Elijah W as Harry, don't know why they didn't shoot all the filma at the same time with same actors, save on a bit of cash!

OP posts:
imnot27 · 16/10/2006 17:06

Have found link to Aragorn/Sirius here

OP posts:
ScareyCaligulaCorday · 16/10/2006 20:05

Ooh yes, he's much more gorgeous than Gary Oldman.

Pity about the name Aragorn, it reminds me of Aragog the spider. As well as Catherine of Aragon, of course

imnot27 · 16/10/2006 20:11

Yes, but he's actually Aragorn Son of Arathorn, bit of a mouthful!! Shall we e-mail Warners (or whoever made film!) and ask them to re-shoot all the Sirius bits with Aragorn in?

OP posts:
MerlinsBeard · 17/10/2006 09:55

Re reading Order of the phoenox and the bit where Dumbledore has a look of triumph in his eyes is, i think just pride. Pride because the magic that Lily evoked when she died to save Harry was really powerful and Dumbledore had taught her. I get the feeling that Lily and/or James were taken under dd's wing a little so he would be proud of them.
I think he feels triumphant taht a half blood (am i right in thinking lily had muggle parents?) could hold off V's powers for so long.

Am probably just rambling - sorry!

Rosyspookily · 17/10/2006 10:02

Yeah mumofmonsters that might be right...ooh I can't wait for the next book!
Am now in love with Aragorn guy...painter and poet and gorgeous? swoon...
