Having re-read The Half Blood Prince last week, I think he is on the right side, but no-one agrees with me! Anyone else sad enough to have an opinion on this?

OP posts:
WhizzBangCaligula · 15/11/2006 21:00

I reckon it will be Snape.

Heroically.

Or maybe Arthur Weasley.

DumbledoresGirl · 15/11/2006 21:20

Snape, definitely, in a way that will make it obvious beyond all doubt that he was on the right side all along.

nikkie · 15/11/2006 21:39

Wonder if they'd notice Aslan amoungst everything else?

Bucketsoffrozendinosaurs · 15/11/2006 22:43

No it won't be a big war, that pretty much happened in Book 6. It will be a coming-of-age quest out 40days and 40 nights in the wilderness type thing, mano a mano, fighting inner demons in order to fight Voldemort. Unsatisfactorily he'll not return to Hogwarts because he'll be a man (like Titus Alone from the Gormenghast trilogy) We'll see the other characters at the beginning and right at the end and they'll recognise the change in him.
I really think she will take the path less trod and people will either love it or feel let down. The difficult follow-up album where the band grows up and gets better at writing and playing if you will.

Rosybumpily · 16/11/2006 09:37

Yeah could be right, though its usually been a team effort that helps Harry and Dd kept encouraging Him to keep Hermione and Ron on board. Also the fact that Harry loves and has friends he trusts is what sets him above Voldemort.....

WhizzBangCaligula · 16/11/2006 10:14

Yeah I think the Harry finding friends and family thing, rather than standing alone, will be important. His whole Hogwarts journey has been about finding a place in the world where he's no longer alone (like he was at the Dursley's) hasn't it? (Though there's that hint when he dumps Ginny because Voldemort would use her to get to him)

"SHe's a hot chick who takes off her glasses, pulls down her hair and turns into a sexbomb"

just to clarify here

I said she was gay, not celibate

figroll · 16/11/2006 10:41

Of course Snape is a goodie - he could have killed Harry at any time when he was running away, but he gave him advice instead. Told him he could read his mind and he needed to block this. The killing dumbledore was already agreed by Snape and DD - that is why they argued, as Snape didn't want to do it. I think Snape is fab - my favourite character.

I don't know who is gay though. I wonder when the next book is out? Anyone have any idea?

figroll · 16/11/2006 10:43

I also believe Snape is doomed and will die in the next book - more is the pity. Harry will probably become the Dark Arts teacher and break the curse!

trying2bgood · 16/11/2006 10:44

I have always had a soft spot for snape and feel that at the end he will prove to be the goodie and also the hero of the piece!

MerlinsBeard · 16/11/2006 10:46

figroll, the books isn't even finished yet prob be xmas nxt year or later!

figroll · 16/11/2006 11:24

Oh that is terrible - what a long wait. I was hoping next spring time. Never mind

dewmeadow · 16/11/2006 13:47

fillyjonk - lol!!!!!

I meant hetero sexbomb, not lesbo.

Snape dying heroically would be good. DOnt know if I could cope with Arthur Weasley or any of teh Weasleys dying (except Percy, who wont die but will go and live in a gay commune in London).

What about Harry dying? That idea used to be all the rage.

DumbledoresGirl · 16/11/2006 14:51

I think if Harry dies, JK will become the least popular person on the face of the planet. I don't know, with all her money, maybe she thinks she can risk that, but it sure wouldn't be popular....

RIP Snape.

WhizzBangCaligula · 16/11/2006 15:01

Harry can't die can he?

I like the idea of him become DADA teacher and breaking the curse...

Rosybumpily · 16/11/2006 15:18

For a while I got bogged down by the prophecy saying 'and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives...'
I thought 'neither can live while the other survives' could mean that they both have to die, mind boggled on wording, but then it says 'either' not 'each' must die at the hand of the other.....but maybe when one dies they both die because of the 'connection' between them.
(which I think involves Harry being a horcrux)
I was starting to think Harry may have to die

Rosybumpily · 16/11/2006 15:21

But there might be some special magic created somewhere by Dd to save Harry and Dd kept telling Harry not to take the prophecy as seriously as V does.

Rosybumpily · 16/11/2006 15:24

I mean, afterall the white witch thought she could kill aslan but there was a deeper magic she didn't know about so it must be true....

figroll · 16/11/2006 15:29

But the prophecy was considered to be about Harry by Voldemort. There is no proof that Harry is the person in the prophecy - if you get what I mean. Harry may have nothing to do with it at all and Voldemort was mistaken in trying to kill him in the first place. By trying to kill him, he has developed a link between HP and himself. Remember Neville - he is much more likely to be involved in the last book in my opinion. I think the prophecy may have been about him, but who knows?

Oh God, what crap am I talking now! It is a while since I read HP and I think I need to go back and revisit some of the books.

firemaiden · 16/11/2006 15:35

I reckon Ron is going to be Head Boy and head of quidditch next year (since HP won't be at school) which is, coincidently, what he wished for in the Mirror of Erised in book 1. Just thought I'd mention it....

Rosybumpily · 16/11/2006 15:40

Yeah but I think V made Harry the person in the prophecy by choosing to attack him but There could still be more of a twist with Neville.... Can't believe we have to wait AGES longer to find out! (trying not to wish life away in between times)

DumbledoresGirl · 16/11/2006 15:59

Wouldn't it be awful to die before the last book came out?

Sorry, I am having morbid thoughts today.

WhizzBangCaligula · 16/11/2006 16:04

Talking of which there was a very sad tale of a little girl who died of cancer before one of the books came out and JKR read bits of it to her before it was published.

here

DumbledoresGirl · 16/11/2006 16:14

That is a lovely story. I did find myself thinking once since reading book 6, that if I found out I had some terminal illness, I would have to write to JK and beg her to tell me in confidence how the last book pans out. It is daft to be so obsessed, but I would really want to know!

Right, off to make myself more cheerful!

HowTheFillyjonkStoleChristmas · 16/11/2006 17:41

ah there are some fab lesbosexbombs, dw
