Having re-read The Half Blood Prince last week, I think he is on the right side, but no-one agrees with me! Anyone else sad enough to have an opinion on this?

Oh do post here if you remember the odd thing Dumbledore said. I love a good conspiracy. I wonder if I will still want to be Dumbledore's girl if he turns out to be a baddie.

but he won't be dd's girl. we know that he is special and good don't we?

wonder if i should change my name to something hp related?

pointydog · 28/09/2006 17:52

Who cares - he's the sexy one. And I'm not the first to say it.

kimi · 28/09/2006 17:52

DH (age 40 next week) thinks DD is not really dead and will come back, i think snape is going to turn out to be a goodie in the end. DS1 is big potter fan (thats why we read the books ....honest)

alexsmum · 28/09/2006 17:54

who pointydog? dumbledore? weel each to their own i guess

DumbledoresGirl · 28/09/2006 18:02

Sexy? Dumbledore? Not sure I see that in him, but of all the characters, he is the one I would most like to meet.

Actually, it is indeed irrelevant to my name if he turns out to be a baddie. Afterall, I am the woman who named her cat after Voldemort (Morty).

pointydog · 28/09/2006 18:02

it's the long beard stuffed in a tight napkin ring. Turns me on.

saltire · 28/09/2006 18:06

Someone (can't be bothered to re-read the whole thread0 said they thought Dumbledore was an animagus and had turned into another phoenix! That's a good theory. you're right alexsmum, JKR did debunk the theory about Petunia being a squib, but i still think that there is something about her that we will find out. i also read - again i'm sure it was a quote from the lady herself - that in book 7 someone discovers later in life that they can do magic! now that could Petunia, who has perhaps kept it hidden bacuse of her dislike of magic, or perhaps Hagrid, or the Filch or mrs whatersname that looked after Harry ( the woman with the cats)

motherinferior · 28/09/2006 18:35

THe Dumbledore thing IRCC wasn't so much a remark as an expression. He was very odd, and had a funny look on his face, at one point when it was a bit noticeable.

Dark is Rising is a very interesting series, isn't it.

Back again! Had my tea! Dumbledoresgirl, in the order of the phoenix (I think!), when Harry tells D that Voldermort could now touch him without being burned, he thinks he sees a 'gleam of triumph' (or sommat) in Ds eyes, but then thinks is mistaken. Rang alarm bells for me at the time

i cannot remember. i also cannot find bk 6, will hunt properly later (its prob being used as a doorstop or something)

i do remember that wholr quest for the hocrux...there was something odd there. a lot of effort for one horctux...and dd was talking funny, the whole relationship b/w them was odd and contrived. (sorry dg i know you like this bit). i thought it was either poorly written (pace dg) or a smoking gun.

oh i must find the book!

newgirl · 28/09/2006 19:18

snape - good definitely - doggie has it right i reckon - he loved lily etc

dumbledore will be back as a floaty phoenix thing hovering over them all

harry will DIE taking voldmort with him restoring harmony in a star wars sort of way and they will both float around as phoenixs with dumbledore and harry's parents, altogether again

ginny will be pregnant with harry's baby

actually, is not OotP, its in Goblet of Fire, silly me. Page 604 (yes, I KNOW I'm sad), Harry says 'he could touch me without hurting himself, he touched my face'. For a fleeting instant, Harry thought he saw a gleam of something like triumph in Ds eyes. But next second, Harry was sure he had imagined it......

okay, i've read all the books but evidently don't have the frighteningly accurate recall theat you lot have.
also don't have time to read the whole thread, sorry, so just came on to say that Snape is a goodie, imho. and our collective crush on ALan Rickman is relevant in that when in the films he is revealed as a goodie we can all swoon and say 'i've always loved him...'

my question, however, is. what is the name of the thingies that voldemort has chopped himself up into and litteredd around the place? cos i think i know where the last one is... (i bet you have all guessed this too and i'll be so embarrassed).

imnot27 · 28/09/2006 19:59

Horcruxes! Wheres the last one?

OP posts:
FillyjonktheBananaEater · 28/09/2006 19:59

they are called horcruxes, aitch

i think we are agreed that snape is a goody

but we are trying to decide if dumbledore is a baddy

hmmm i do not like alan rickman. galaxy quest kind of ruined it for me.
